In news that is unlikely to surprise any of the Westerosi faithful, Game of Thrones will meet the Many-Faced God of TV Death with season 8... and it will only enjoy six episodes at that.

Casey Bloys, HBO president of programming, confirmed to EW in July 2016 that season 8 will be the final year, as showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss had long stated was their intention. And showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss confirmed in March 2017 that Game of Thrones season 8 will continue to the letter of that original plan and end the series with six final weekly installments.

“It’s only going to be six episodes for the final season,” Benioff said during a featured speaker at SXSW panel. “From the beginning we’ve wanted to tell a 70-hour movie. It will turn out to be a 73-hour movie, but it’s stayed relatively the same of having the beginning, middle and now we’re coming to the end. It would have been really tough if we lost any core cast members along the way, I’m very happy we’ve kept everyone and we get to finish it the way we want to.”

But now perhaps the most fearful news yet... Game of Thrones season 8 could potentially not air until 2019. Still, it is not all doom and gloom. Consider the latest bit of intel that suggests every episode could be movie-length.

Latest Game of Thrones Season 8 News
While Den of Geek was unable to attend this year's Con of Thrones, many fans were, and one revealed that in addition to the season 7 finale being 82 minutes (meaning it's the longest episode in the series' history), the entirety of Game of Thrones season 8 could also be feature-length. We are talking about 80 minutes, 90 minutes, or more. It might even make a possible year-delay worthwhile...

Fairfield just said the Season 7 finale of GAME OF THRONES will be 82 mins. Final season they're considering making each ep feature length!

Game of Thrones Season 8 Release Date
While chatting with HBO about the final seasons of Game of Thrones, Entertainment Weekly learned from Casey Bloys that the eighth season might not air until 2019 instead of its expected summer 2018 bow.

When EW asked if a 2019 premiere date is a possibility, Bloys said, "Yeah. They have to write the episodes and figure out the production schedule. We’ll have a better sense of that once they get further into the writing."

While this could mean nothing, given that EW is the outlet with nigh exclusive access to Game of Thrones' production in its later years, and that editor James Hibberd brought this question up by himself, it is also probable this is the first rollout of the prospect to get fans adjusted to the idea of a truly long wait for the final episodes. And then they make it official after season 7...

On the upside, we were at the San Diego Comic-Con panel last year where Miguel Sapochnik hinted he’d be back for season 8,and Dan Weiss nodded his head in approval. We wouldn’t be shocked if he directs an unusually high number of the episodes for that season after filming the double whammy of "The Battle of the Bastards" and "The Winds of Winter" in season 6's final two episodes.

I liked Oz for a while... Got tired of it a couple seasons before the end.... But it's writing was never on par with the Wire's writing...and they didn't have any characters on par with the top wire characters. That's no disrespect by the way, just saying that one was a good show and one was beyond good.

While great the Wire may not even be better than Oz which is in the same genre. Many from the Wire came from Oz.

Thrones is much deeper and complex

If we get longer episodes. Then im cool with it. But kind of wish that boardwalk empire got the same treatment for their last season. Shit was rushed and shipped out.

I knew the writers were going to make it Sansa vs Jon,this season I don't understand it at all.First, she says they need to stick together yet she continues to challenge him in front of everybody. The sad part, they had this discussion just last week and she still does it.

I think that's the twist by the writers. Make us think there's some conflict between Sansa & Jon.

However, those Stark siblings love each other. It's not a Jaimie & Cersie type of love but you know what I mean. You see how Jon one-hand choked Lil' Finger. Ayra was eating and drinking like a dude but the moment she heard Jon was in Winterfell she dropped that shit and headed north... They down for each man.

In the end I can see Sansa playing Lil Finger and ultimately killing him herself. Increasing her body count to 2.

H-Funk, you my dude, but don't you ever, ever, ever ever ever ever ever come in here with some edited pictures when the real pictures are already posted on here. BGOL is not PG-13, Capice?

Just adding the link and additional, edited ones to bump the thread so people can see the unedited joints. Just playing my part, fam'.

Yeah he's right. Most importantly you could have left that last photo out. Nobody wants to see dudes ass.

Reek definitely went Reek at the moment of truth, HOWEVER......
Euron was going to kill Yara no matter what.
So self preservation in that situation is understandable.
Euron is a fuckin psycho and there was no way in hell Reek could have saved her.
So he should have committed suicide to save his sister?

is it just me but i don't trust sansa , not that she would kill snow but she won't be as good as him making the right decisions
she's always undermining him , i wouldn't leave her in charge

He should have sent her to Dany. Fuck around and come home to Littlefinger King in the North.

In the preview for episode 3 we see that Jon and Dany finally meet. I think that Jon will ask to see the Dragons and when he does, instead of acting aggressive like they do for most people, they will sense the Targ blood in him and treat him like they treat Dany, which will make Dany be all like "Who are you really?".

Something like that.

----------------------------

Dany, "bend the knee"

Jon, "turn around and bend both of yours"

This one :smh::lol:

I think she's very aware of her own hypocrisy, and so probably is most of her audience... but she wears the crown, so some are going to follow her blindly and some are going to follow her out of fear and knowledge of what she can do to them if they don't. They remember what happened to Ned when he spoke up.

Can you guys explain something to me...

Cersei out here talking about how crazy the Mad King was... Aint nobody look at her like bitch, you just got done killing EVERYONE in that church, including your daughter in law. The ashes are still hot for fucks sakes.

I'm betting though that at some point, Nymeria will show up to help her old fam though. Probably against the white walkers and their crew when they make it to Winterfell, her and ghost will be ripping zombies to shreds. Hopefully they both make it to the end.

right he was like nah im good fam i got my own crew now

There aren't many chicks that I would fuck unprotected, splash in, and then not give a damn about possible pregnancy. Missandei/Nathalie is one of them though. I know it's stupid, and she may be crazy behind the scenes, but I'd be like, fuck it, if somebody has to carry the seed, I can live with it being her!

I didn't like it when Dany threatened Varys. Varys probably has the most knowledgeable political mind of anyone on the show. He served under The Mad King and Robert. He was around and aware when Tywin was running things. He knows how to rule; and more importantly, he knows that he'll never be king. He knows the political history. If you want to survive, you listen to Varys. He has spies everywhere. It would have been a huge mistake on her part if she would have killed him. Tyrian is smart, even he knows Varys is valuable as f*ck to the cause. I look at Varys as being "Hand to the Hand."

This is all true... but remember... Dany had NEVER confronted Varys about his own role in all the events of the last 6 seasons.

Put yourself in Dany's shoes for a second....

Varys plays both sides. Very often. To stay alive.
Before his speech last night, "self-preservation" was always his #1 primary motive for EVERY SINGLE THING he does.

Granted, deep down inside, he's got a good heart... however, he hasn't always been able to STAND TALL and 'to do the right thing' whenever HIS back is against the wall. :smh:

As a result, 'his loyalty' tends to flip-flop based on any given situation... which could change (180 degrees) tomorrow. :dunno:

That's not good. :smh: You cannot DEPEND on someone like that.... especially 'when the chips are down'... or 'the odds might (temporarily) turn against you'. :smh:

So Dany 'cornered him' and wanted Varys to prove his true loyalty. (Just like Khal Drogo, Tyrion, Jorah Mormont, Greyworm, Daario Neharis & ALL the Dothraki have done before him... over the last 6 seasons.)

Last night, it was just Varys' turn.... 'to bend the knee'.

Just my opinion.

I see your point for sure. But, if a crazy person is king, that's a stressful situation for you to be in as an advisor to that king. Then, that king gets killed, and the next king thinks that you are valuable. So he wants you on the team. You can't say no. So, you serve. To everyone else, you look like a flip-flopper. Everyone who serves a king (especially a bad one) are going to be under some stress. I understand why Dany did it. But, she should understand that it was Robert who pulled the strings in her case. She's going to have Varys do the exact same thing that he did for her father and Robert. She didn't have to tell him what she would do to him, he already knew. He saw Ned's dad get burnt the f*ck-up by her dad. Self-preservation has to be his motive, because all of the great rulers can be crazy.

Thats what Im saying.

So far the show aint deal with any backlash for that.
She is dealing with the backlash. Only 3 of the 7 kingdoms are on her side and this was before House Frey was wiped out. Euron Greyjoy is an "arms length" ally at most and of course the Westerlands have her back. She is begging Randall Tarly to side with her and, even though he is an asshole, he ai't going to rollover willingly on the Tyrrells. Speaking of that, did you guys see Billy from Black Sales as Dickon Tarly? They recast that role.
