Also, we can dump bad contracts like JR.Smith, Shumpert and get more cap space to maneuver later down the line before the trade deadline, and what ever we move Mr. Irving for which will be a superstar and draft picks most likely high ones bails the Cavs out of a bad money and chemistry situation and gives them flexibility which they did not have.
But with that being said Irving for Mello straight up is good enough to beat anyone out west in the finals, based on the strength Mello and James are close and Mello is a better fit and scorer rebounder than Irving.

Shit from what I saw and read was that Griffin didn't want to trade for Melo. Remember the Knick called twice before the deal line and nothing happen.
Melo brings plenty of things but folks always talk trading this one for that one and don't keep it real.
