OK exactly what protection are you referring to? Your ISP already has your IP address they issued it. An IP addresses are collected on every website you visit, its called cookies. Even if you were to constantly delete your cookies if you go back to that site they know you've been there before.

There is no protection and your cell phone is the worst yet. With the technology available today your cell phone will instantly broadcast your exact location. Does your car have GPS, Lo Jack?

These gizmos supposedly will make your life easier say for information and shopping and that is what they do best. As for protection get yourself a good dog. We see and hear everyday of systems being hacked. IMO the less technology you have the better. Don't put all your faith in these devices. At some point you will know disappointment. Just think of yourself being part of the Matrix. If you own any type device with WiFi your in there.

If Google can't be everyone's ISP , or everyone's search , or everyone's social media, or everyones' email, then they can at least be everyone's router which is worse than all
those combined with how much data they can be privy to. The high price of this is not worth it if one is used to 25 dollar routers that already cover whole two story houses.
No, they want it to seem like they have to offer a cloud service on top like Meraki.

I expect the prices to drop with a "ad driven" router kinda like Amazon is doing with the kindle price points. The cheaper "ad driven" router could
become more popular and it's a win-win-win for google.
