Mr.Malcom has that serious intelligence community credentials. He absolutely knows what he's talking about and I just kinda wish the Joy lady(Opera Joy?) would have let the white boy talk and hang himself more. You have Malcolm there to essentially share your thoughts. Get out the way and let him destroy the other guy. Joy has low tolerance for BS. She doesn't let them spew talking points, especially when they are lies, with no push back. It's rare that she let's BS slide.

Got it! But, ultimately, I assume she invites these "guest" on her show. Regardless of their scripted responses, you have to give them the opportunity to speak. More over, It's the reason you invited the other side on your show as well. Essentially, to debate the talking points etc.

Unless your monologuing, giving commentary etc then your job at that point is to facilitate the debate...Period! That's just how it's done.

debating facts or pov - ok
debating with proven lies - needs to be shut down
thats the biggest mistake with trying to be balanced - it creates false equivalencies and many times the host allows lies to presented unchallenged
so far Tapper and Stephanopoulos are the best I've seen with real time fact checks but everyone needs to stop booking surrogates that are telling blatant lies -Conway Miller Pierson etc...
Jeff Lord looks ridiculous pushes false arguments but he avoids pushing blatant lies

I understand what you are saying, and I agree there needs to be a balance, but for me, that is part of her appeal. They only have so much time for a segment, and the GOP operatives are used to going on shows and running out the time by deflecting and sprouting outrageous, ridiculous, laughable lies and half truths, and you end up to where the entire segment is just filled with the narrative they want out there. Several of the other news anchors have taken her lead with this and are doing a better job of confronting GOP nonsense and controlling the direction of the conversation by pushing back on their narratives.

I know what you're saying, but the problem is that these people aren't interested in having a "discussion" or a "debate", especially a facilitated one. All they care about is pouring out their bullshit stories and talking points to try and feed into their delusional base. That's why they cry so hard about being cut off and "abused". It's part of their same strategy, but it's also bullshit.

I mean, come on... this dude is waving around a picture of a man dressed as a pirate... like that means anything. He had shit to actually discuss when he sat down in front of the camera, and even he knows it. Why give him free range to spout that shit on your program when you can just shut it down from the jump?

"Fair and balanced" has always been a pipe dream.

Can't really argue your points here. It's just unfortunate, in my opinion, that all media is pretty much "bias media." As you mentioned "fair and balanced" really doesn't exist.
