NBA offseason 2016-2017...NBA offseason best in sports....This offseason is lit to the 3rd degree!!

no. all of it is because of his pops and because he hasn't disowned his pops like they want someone to.
man i was at work and i mentioned getting some big baller brand stuff and a coworker was like oh so you support his views have you met him?
i was like have you met ralph lauren or calvin klein or gucci fam? do you even know what their views are or are they just clothes?

everybody shut they asses up after that.
I actually started a thread commending Pop but I think it goes deeper than what you typed.

Market your line, even big up your son but some of the shit he said will cause his son to get unfairly roasted whenever he has a bad game like tonight. All that better than Steph Curry and hes already better than Jason Kidd bullshit, and then Lonzo lays an egg like he did tonight, hes gonna get shit on...

Thats what Im referring to. You cant go on a 3 month tour talking that shit and expect anything other than a huge roasting....

And it should be directed at pops not the kid is all I'm saying
and also I wouldn't want my dad to say "He's average"
fuck that lol
say I'm better than steph even if it ain't true.
that's just me.
when my dad hyped me up it didn't make me feel pressure it made me feel invincible

But see, that's where I have a problem with your logic. Again, I have nothing against either of them but...

There is a difference between saying he's average and giving measuring sticks to compare him to, and then not expecting when he falls short for people to speak on it. His father eliminated the dynamic of criticism being 'directed at him' when he put his sons skills in a comparison against other stars. So its cool for Lonzo to essentially embrace the shit his father said, but oh, the public and media should when he plays ass, not criticize him but talk about his 'Father'?!?! That doesn't make sense Bruh...

Also, Lonzo enjoyed the celebrity his father's mouth brought him, he wasn't on WWE because he's a good ball player he was on their because of his fathers mouth, so if you reap the benefits of it, expect to deal with the negatives too.

While I don't think it's as severe as him 'turning against his Dad', he embraced the shit he was saying without saying anything. I'll never forget years ago when people were comparing Harold Miner to MJ, and I remember them asking him a question concerning the comparisons and them saying he would be just as good, etc. and his response was to the effect of, people have their opinions and I'm flattered by the comparisons, but I don't look to be compared to anyone else, I just want to be judged on my own achievements.

To say something like that isn't a diss on his father, but he also allows himself to put shit in the proper context as well. Like I said, it's HARD as fuck on a 19 year old as it is, but say he does struggle like a son of a bitch, each game I believe it will get to him, he will start pressing, because he is forced to live up to the expectations his father set...

People can speak on it. Now is premature after 1 summer league game. If he goes out there and has a bad season sure.
It's like people don't get hyperbole when he says something. That's what I don't get. He's clearly just talking shit in a joking manner but people treat it as gospel though they know better.

You got it backwards lol Lonzo isn't enjoying the celebrity his father brought him his father is enjoying the celebrity his son brought him. If Lonzo was a scrub and wasn't delivering in high school and in college there would never have been a mic in his face nor any of these opportunities and probably no big baller brand as well they built this entire thing off of Lonzo's play.

He ain't never gotta say nothing about his father. That's his dad. His dad says something then his dad can be held accountable for it. He ain't cosigning it and he should never distance himself from his father cause his father hasn't said anything that is detrimental to anything or anyone.

And I don't think Lonzo should respond like a "good boy"
None of the shit all these soothsayers said would cost Lonzo because of his dad has happened. Not none of it. Nothing at all. He had a great year at UCLA he got drafted #2 overall. He is an L.A. Laker Big Baller brand exists.

What part of any of that should be told as a cautionary tale as these writer's have sold us over the past 8 months as soon as they found out that his dad wasn't going to be a "good boy"

Damn Fultz and Tatum looked smooth as hell in their debuts and Lonzo did that his first game? Damn LaVar that's not suppose to happen bro? :roflmao2::roflmao2::roflmao2::roflmao2:

they were down to saying his dad is going to cost him x amount of money on his rookie contract cause he won't be #1 overall
like it was a lock that ANYONE since Lebron James and Ben Simmons were a universal lock to be #1 overall

No one is saying he's not going to be good pro or he's ass or anything. I haven't read or heard any of that but to get all tender because people comment on the way he played in this game is not very bright! Thats the way it ALWAYS is and will be. Game to game criticism or praise. Just like you have people saying Tatum is going to be the truth or is going to be the best rookie of all of them, after TWO summer league games!?!?!?

Just like you're entitled to your opinion about how he should or should not react to his Dads antics, people also have the right to react or deal with it the way they want to in regard to their dealing and judgment of Lonzo and his play on the court.
Also, the book is still being written on Lavar and his interaction with the Lakers. Do I know whether or not hes going to be a pain in their ass?!?! No. However he has yet to deal with adversity, deal with his son not playing well when it counts, deal with any negativity, etc. concerning Lonzo. Then and only then will we be able to say how he is going to react...

Ultimately, Lonzo has to play the game, and play better than the way he did tonight. I believe he will, but as of tonights game, he sucked. No more no less... and people will speak on it. You start a broadcast with 5 minutes of this Kid, basically the whole reason they were on prime time is to introduce him to the basketball world, more due to the notoriety his father generated than his play on the court, and it was anticlimatic because he sucked tonight... There was definitely going to be a story to tell after the game, either about how Lonzo showed up and dominated, etc. or how he sucked in his first pro exposure. Unfortunately he sucked tonight, and people/media will talk about it...

...and as far as Lonzo bringing his father celebrity, I totally disagree with you. He would NOT have been on WWE, people would not have been talking about big baller brand, etc. if it was not for the loud persona of his dad and the outlandish shit he says. I respect his hustle, but don't get it twisted, without Lonzo's dads big mouth, Lonzo would be just another highly rated draft pick. Thats why you don't see any of the other lottery picks on wrestling shows and shit... Thats all Lavar, none of these entities were coming looking for Lonzo...

No.
His dad put in the time with his son and now his son is successful every person isn't the same and there is no right or wrong way to do it
because the right way is usually the cac line of thinking and standard that they themselves don't follow

he would've enjoyed the car his son bought him. the new house if he would've accepted it in the first place.
like we're totally ignoring the common denominator in all of this.. the media.
if he wasn't a polarizing personality they weren't trying to get paid off of he wouldn't be on shit.
they could totally shun him and be like no we not asking you to be on nothing ever again we'd never hear from him but do they do that?
no.
cause they love the shit too.

Basically... Lonzo's game gave Lavar an avenue to market himself, but Lavar took the ball and ran with it. That's why leading up to the draft, you heard more about Lavar than Lonzo, and 90% of the discussion and Lavar's interviews were not about Lonzo's play on the court. Their reality show is all Lavar... people are interested in hearing his next sound bite, not Lonzo's. To say Lonzo made Lavar is.. nevermind... :D
