Refs stopped him from getting hurt and that's what he was supposed to do, but he still should have made that mofo go down first. Just let Ward finish him.
Nah a fighter just literally died in the ring a couple days ago. The ref knows that. Kov has his hands down and was doing nothing to protect himself. He wouldve got hurt real bad man. Ward is like Floyd. He may not be the most powerful puncher as he moves up in weight but he places his shots perfectly. He wouldve hurt him real bad.

Rigondeaux defended his belt for the eighth time when he faced interim titlist and mandatory challenger Flores in the co-feature of the Andre Ward-Sergey Kovalev II HBO PPV card on Saturday night at Mandalay Bay.
The fight ended in a storm of controversy because although Rigondeaux landed a clean left hand to knock Flores out the shot came well after the bell ended the round. On fight night, referee Vic Drakulich - the sole arbiter of the outcome - concluded it was a legal punch that had been thrown before the bell ended the round after consulting with Bob Bennett.

At least junior featherweight titlist Guillermo Rigondeaux wasn't boring this time, but the final call in his first-round knockout of Moises Flores on Saturday was questionable.

There was genuine controversy after their first fight and a little rancor after the rematch because of some questionable low blows, but Dan Rafael thinks Andre Ward's victory over Sergey Kovalev on Saturday was fair and legit.
"I listened to it several times. I had a conversation with Vic on the phone and we went over the fight and it was quite clear to both of us that that the punch was thrown after the bell," Bennett said.
Bennett cannot unilaterally change the result, nor can commission chairman Anthony Marnell III. It has to be voted on by the four commissioners.
"Vic drafted a statement has been provided to chairman Marnell and the other commissioners and they will also be provided with a copy of the fight and next Monday morning we will have a commission meeting, where the result will be changed in accordance with Nevada code," Bennett said.
The reason the meeting won't be for a week is because Nevada rules state that the public must be given three business days notice before the meeting can be held. So it will take place next week with the vote on the result of the fight being changed a formality.
"The evidence to me is quite clear," Bennett said.
The two fighter camps did not dispute the impending decision to change the result.
"It was unintentional but we've the punch landed after the bell," said Michael Yormark of Rigondeaux promoter Roc Nation Sports. "Both fighters were in a clinch and then were throwing punches at the same time. Rigo's landed first and flattened him. We understand the commission's position ands respect the Nevada State Athletic Commission and we'll accept their decision. We respect Bob Bennett and we don't necessarily disagree with what the commission decision will be, and we'll move on."
Said Flores promoter Tom Brown of TGB Promotions: "Clearly, the punch landed after the bell and I have complete faith in the Nevada Athletic Commission to overturn the decision. We'll send an official protest to the athletic commission and wait for them to make their decision and I'm sure it will be declared a no decision. They still have to go through their hoops and then see what the WBA does."
Because it was a mandatory fight, the WBA is likely to order a rematch.

Abel Sanchez, who once worked with former champion Sergey Kovalev (30-2, 26 KOs), isn't all that surprised that he has seemingly tuned out trainer John David Jackson in his last few fights and many believe that a parting of ways between the two is inevitable after consecutive losses to Andre Ward (32-0, 16 KOs).
Last Saturday night at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, Ward stopped Kovalev in the eight round of their rematch.
Sanchez explained to BoxingScene.com - "When Sergey and I worked together I understood a year-and-a-half into our relationship he was going to be a very stubborn guy. He's a guy that thought he knew what he needed to do for himself. It was going to be difficult for him to understand that when people look at him from the outside, experienced coaches, they're going to be able to tell him him what he needs to do. But he has a hard time understanding that there's people to help him."
The trainer, who is best known for having worked with Terry Norris in the past and currently with middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin, jettisoned Kovalev from his camp for his lone wolf tendencies.
"That was one of the reasons why I asked him to leave because he wanted to do things in a different manner than I wanted,"he recalled."Other than that we got along, he's a very good fighter. He developed into the kind of fighter that I like in my gym but I'm not going to have an arrogant do-it-his-way type of fighter in the gym to spoil the rest of them."
Sanchez continued,"That''s his only downfall, if he had been in the kind of shape he needed to be in to last a fight against a great fighter like Andre Ward there's no doubt in my mind he would've won the fight. But you can't do it by yourself."

Davis vs. Salido Being Eyed For Mayweather-McGregor PPV?

Two days ago, BoxingScene.com reported that Orlando Salido (44-13-4, 31 KOs) agreed to the financial terms for a rematch with WBO super featherweight champion Vasyl Lomachenko, for a date of August 5th on ESPN.
However, Salido's manager -Sean Gibbons - mentioned that several loose ends needed to get resolved in order to finalize that agreement.
But now a report has surfaced that Salido is under serious consideration as the next opponent for IBF super featherweight champion Gervonta Davis (18-0, 17 KOs), who is being positioned for the Showtime Pay-Per-View undercard to the big card featuring Floyd Mayweather Jr.vs. Conor McGregor on August 26th at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
According to ESPN Deportes, citing sources that are close to Salido, the big issue in finalizing the rematch with Lomachenko is not the money - but the date.
Lomachenko wants to fight in early August, while Salido prefers to return in late August.
A fight with Davis would also present a very lucrative opportunity for the Mexican veteran.
Salido fought on Mayweather's undercard in September 2015, when he battled Roman Martinez to a controversial twelve round draw for the WBO super featherweight title at the MGM Grand. Mayweather dominated Andre Berto in the main event and retired afterwards.
Salido saw action late last month when he returned to the ring in Mexico, and got off the floor to stop Aristides Perez.
Davis traveled to London late last month to make a mandatory defense of his title with a one-sided destruction of previously undefeated Liam Walsh at Copper Box. Salido is not ranked in the top 15 of the IBF, so it will be interesting to see how all of that shakes out. He is, however, ranked at number one under the WBO to Lomachenko, and he's also ranked in the number two position under the World Boxing Council.

Sad man. Couldn't have happened to a better tough guy though. Andre tried to warn him about the business. Talking about ending Ward's career and he fucked around and damn near ended his own. Ass whooped for free. Probably didn't clear $1 million for both fights - two for one special on fuckery.
Andre took his aura of invincibility, but Duva is taking everything else.
