It's hard to feel like you've been taken advantage of when you've made money. For some people here, they've never seen that type of money. So essentially, they're ok with it anyway because of the end result (though they would feel differently if they bought in after it passed .40 like some people are the bottom dropped completely out before they could sell any).
Furthermore, I tried to warn people weeks ago when it went to $.46 and he came in saying it was going to be $1 by the end of the week and then $10 by the end of the year.
Now, also consider that I didn't own one coin of XRP. I was just looking out for yall. It was obvious what he was doing but everyone was caught up in the irrational exuberance of the coin price rise to notice it.

If they fuck this up, everyone pays the price. Bitcoin (although not the monopoly it once was), is still the token market's reserve currency. If the U.S. had this kind of ideological split, it would crater the entire world.

That's what it looks like. If they mishandle this, BTC is done. I don't mean done as crypto or even done as a mono-currency (it might split), it's done as the reserve currency. A MAJOR contributing factor to its market value is the network effect it's built. With Eth already eating away at that with its smart contract tech which has become the currency of ICOs, a mismanaged fork could unravel the entire thing. That thread shows it's really ideological. Ideological disagreements are the most difficult to negotiate because it requires you to deny yourself in the process. You can easily negotiate a technological stack or financial term.. but not ideology...and especially with purists...and bitcoin maximalists are purists. It's like arguing with a fundamentalist.
