Official BGOL Crypto Currency Thread ★★★★★

A lot of people are telling me they cannot get their credit card verified though COINBASE.COM. Where else can they buy bitcoin online quickly??

Yo my homie called asking about this shit. Mind you I told these niggas about this shit in January after the Pascal incident and they ain't did shit.

I guess mainstream media ran with a Bitcoin story for tonight's nightly news and the $2,000 price got everyone's attention.

I don't get how folks are more interested now at $2000 than a month ago at $1100?

People don't really understand the buy low/sell high investor mentality. I mean they say bitcoin could hit $10,000 at some point so he should still get in.

By the way what was the cheapest Pascal had been before it's boom.

because if 1 thing is worth 2g's then they want to know wtf is it and why?

I was interested in crypto but it felt like bitcoin was going to be the only thing and everyone else was just going to not be worth the time or effort.
i was actually looking for an excuse to get back into it and then i found one.

im researching 2 coins right now to see what's what. then ill just weigh the pros and cons and put them in the thread

Tell them they'll have to wait 24 hrs. Coinbase does this weird thing where they say you have the wrong address and you'll have to wait 24 hrs.
Its bullshit but usually lets you get it right and verify after a day or two.

maybe but people can't get in when it's already 2gs like that. you get in at 2g and by 5 coins for 10k sure you've got 5 coins but 5 coins doesn't really feel like shit.
on the other hand those that got in when it was cents 5 bitcoins is nothing as they've got thousands..

People can just get fractions of a bitcoin. At this point it's good to have some fraction of bitcoin rather than none at all.

Types of Wallets
There are many different ways to use Bitcoin and so there are many different types of wallets:

  • Online bitcoin wallets. Wallets that can be accessed on the web from any internet connected device.
  • Bitcoin hardware wallets. Physical devices designed to secure bitcoins.
  • Software wallets. Wallet applications downloaded to your phone, computer or tablet.
  • Paper wallets. Bitcoin private keysprinted from an offline computer.

By the end of this article you’ll understand Bitcoin wallets and have a better idea about which type is right for you. Here are some factors to consider:

  • On the go? If you are making payments in person and not online then a mobile wallet like Copay (iOS & Android), breadwallet (iOS) or Mycelium (Android) is a must.
  • Frequency of payments. If you will need to make frequent payments then it will be best to keep your funds in wallet that is easy to use and accessible. Mobile wallets and desktop wallets are good options.
  • Amount. If you are dealing with large amounts of bitcoins you will need a secure wallet. Hardware wallets and secure offline wallets like Armory are good options.
  • Use combinations. Use a mobile wallet as your checking account, and a hardware or secure offline wallet as your savings account. Mix and match to find a combination that provides both security and accessibility.

Trying to learn which wallets are secure too.

I'll really tempted to build a quick machine learning program that scrapes all the exchange data for indicators of possible breakout coins. You could roll the dice on 10 coins and lose all your investment on 9 and it wouldn't matter if that 1 hit. That's how venture capitalist invest. They know half are going to fail and they'll lose their entire investment . 25 percent will break even (meaningless to them), 20 percent will return double their money (meaningless to them), 4 percent will do 4-5x investment which is nice... and then the one Facebook or Instagram Series A investment will return their entire fund and more.. it's the 50x return they're looking for.

when a venture fund raises 500M, they're expected to return 5B back to the LPs...so you need massive hits... all funds are typically driven by ONE monster return. So you place a lot of bets and then go in hard when you think you've found a home run.

ya...that's my mindset (on a much lower level of course now that I've see the run ripple is on)...I'd sooner throw my $$$ @ low buy-in coins and hope for a huge payoff than to go w/ the "sure" coins that will climb @ a relatively steady pace w/ a decent payout...I notice ppl keep looking @ the end #s like bitcoin...even if it hit $20000 that's only a 5x flip...something for fractions of a penny let's say $0.001 that rises to ten cents...that shit just flipped 100x and that's not even taking into account you can buy a variety of coins @ a fraction of a penny as opposed to one that cost $2k...it's a gamble tho

It it gets on Poloniex it will explode but I'm just gonna throw some change on it here and there.

I'm waiting for my limit @ coinbase to replenish...I just need that price to stay down for a couple days...I want those $0.000x or $0.0000x coins...that's where the real payoffs potentially lie

*edit*

I remember reading reddcoin's platform tho as I look @ the site again and remember not being too impressed...I like the idea of coins serving as currency for banks/gaming as spectrum mentioned...but reddcoin is targeting social network apps...don't see a real use for it there but you never know

Was just looking at this site sounds similar to your idea uses a bot to check for early indicators of abnormal coin movement and relays info via telegram.

Web cam shows? :dunno:

I guess my Ledger hasn't even shipped. But I'm getting into the habit of leaving my coins off of the exchange...especially Poloniex

Co sign. So with the ledger i can transfer without converting I gather. Yes that's where I'm trying to get. Get coins in a "secure" place.

I don't have anywhere near as you guys but I plan to make this a life long plan. Bgol strikes again. Man I been off and on bgol since I was 17. I'm 37. All phases of my life involved bgol at SOME point. Y'all muhfuggas collectively have been like a big uncle. Thanks to those who have shared anything. It's funny that I honestly never came here for porn (enjoyed though and thanks). Y'all worth y'all weight in BTC.

Okay I just purchased $75 USD of DOGE on Bittrex. The shit is confusing to me I guess cause Im used to Kraken. Im just trying to see how much my DOGE is in USD like how you can do in Kraken.

Right now it says I have 31460.09 in DOGE and an est. BTC value of .0355499l does that look right for around $75?
