Damn this is all just terrible. I watched all the videos and it's all just so fucked up. It's over for Steve but I hope it's makes people more aware of how serious mental illness is. I understand what you're saying and where your coming from. Things changed for me when my body changed. It affected my ability to support my family. Bills started coming in and money wasn't. I was dealing with physical pain and the healthcare system was running game. Add to that coming from a family and extended family who simply couldn't understand why I didn't just buy some dope and sell it to put food on the table. It was a rough time.
I'm the type of dude who worked under the table as a teenager cleaning up a building that was being remodeled. I worked through my junior high years in the school occupational work program. When I was old enough I worked fast food. I had a second job in the military. In other words I worked to get what I needed because that's what I felt being a man was about. After my back injury all that shit changed literally over night.
I couldn't look in the mirror and be proud of myself anymore and that changed me. I always did for others and now there I was hat in hand needing help financially and physically. That shit can really fuck with you. Especially if you got a rigid idea of your own manhood and that revolved around independence and the ability to provide. I'm in a great place now though but it was definitely humbling.
