The Cosby show aired for eight seasons and after season 3 ALOT of the episodes from then on was on some over-saccharine vanilla shit...

especially when you get to the last 3 seasons..

* There were at least TWO episodes where the muppets featured heavily...THE FUCKING MUPPETS!!

* They pulled a *"cousin Oliver" TWICE! once with Olivia to replace no longer cute toddler Rudy and cousin Pam because Malcolm Jamal Warner and Tempestt Bledsoe were in college in real life and on the show part time at that point and with Lisa Bonet gone and Sandra out of the house they needed a teen kid to fill in. Her character never really worked out.

* Was Dabness fucking Vanessa or what? She brings him home as her fiance but they end up not getting married but he hangs out around the house anyway...what the hell was that?

* They all went from dressing like regular people to FASHION HORSES. Bill pioneered the "Cosby sweater" and on any given episode you would see them lounging around the house in what looked like formal attire or some type of outfit like any minute they were going to some gala or event where they needed to be neatly and fashionably dressed...but they never leave the house!

* You knew they were running out of gas when there would be whole episodes that featured anyone BUT a Huxtable. Peter had an episode....Bud had a episode..hell even some kid at the local rec center they volunteered at had a episode.

* With the exception of the occasional rant from Claire the acting over all downgraded and the jokes and premises for each episode got lamer.

* They went to the well once too many times with the lipsync thing.

The first time was outstanding! Everyone talked about it the next day.

the second time was okay...you really can't go too wrong with a james brown song...

but the 3rd time...it was pretty much :hmm::hmm::hmm:

C'mon yall lets be honest..the Cosby Show was a great show (in the beginning) but lets not act like the quality didn't slip towards the end.

*cousin Oliver was a godawful addition to the Brady Bunch when all the other kids started aging out. He just showed up one episode and did nothing to enhance the show at all.

Even with its flaws.... it was arguably one of the greatest family sitcoms of all time.

As a matter of fact... I challenge anyone to name me a better family sitcom over the Cosby Show?
I don't wanna get in a pissing contest of what show was a better sitcom since most of not all the other shows of its time would be white cast and that opens up a whole other can of worms..

Lets just say the cosby show followed all the same tropes and format of pretty much any family based sitcom.

I'm talking more of the quality of the show in its self.

Wasnt that trying to be a pilot for a proposed spin-off show? Lots of sitcoms back in the day did this

Nowadays NBC doesn't even acknowledge the show..in their most recent network anniversary special i think there was only like a one-sentence mention and that was it

yeah that was something for tony orlando...glad that didn't work out cuz it was a snoozer episode..

I'll give you that.

And even Fresh Prince had its flaws in changing characters and introducing new ones.

* they too cousin oliver'd that show... when ashley got too old they brought in nicky who had absolutely nothing to do..

* aunt viv as played by daphne maxwell reid went from a college professor and equal half of the Banks household to a stay at home mom with no real past or career of her own.

* Towards the end it became the Will and Carlton show as they really didn't have much else for anyone to do.

Damn, you right. I didn't even really catch that back in the day.

All shows that are not soap-operas slip at the end. Soap operas string you along not
ending ever because those 7 seasons are really one long novel strung out over time.

Regular sitcoms like Cosby have to have a complete episode every episode.
Yes, they run their well dry becuase they have explored life to the extent that
it works for the show.

It was a great show, but running the course of material is why they end.

They are purposely sinking the show because

It promotes a normal melanin rich family...

If he had some fags on the show regularly

Or a mixed family. He would've gotten a pass...

The nerve of Cosby inspiring black love and black college education

And now he is trying to own a network and

Create more positive images for "black"

People

He must be stopped....

Said the folks at NBC and I blame rockefeller since he owns nbc
..

The premise you suppose would seem silly if it wasn't verified by history.

There has been a persistent campaign to maintain the contrived identity of black people. The propaganda campaign against Black people has been in effect for several centuries.

Everybody accepts the Psychopedia of Black folks as if it's rooted in reality irregardless of their race, religion and national origin.

Who you telling I would never have guessed

How hard Hollywood and the networks

Would use their venues to push faggotry as hard as they are doing now...

They made empire the new Cosby show

The fashion is a throwback to Leave it to Beaver and other 50's sitcoms where Ward Cleaver used to come down the stairs to breakfast dressed in a three piece suit. Everything else was just the over-milking of a cash cow.

The fact that you paired 8 seasons down to 5 episodes you didn't love speaks the the quality of this show.

Chill

those were just the highlights....we can go thru all 5 final seasons (after the first 3) and trust me there would be more episodes where you make these faces :hmm::rolleyes: :yawn2:more than these faces :giggle::lol::happy:

bounce is running the series now and if and when they do a cosby show marathon..you will see the decline.

I noticed it back then but didn't want to admit to myself for all the reasons people are stating now...but fuck it its been over 25 YEARS..its time to admit some shit if nothing else just to ourselves..:)

it has nothing to do with what the show achieved just a observation of the quality...like jordan losing a step later in his career.

Cant agree with this post. Every show, everything person, every thing has flaws. To me possibly the greatest Black show ever.... Ill give it the nod even though The Jefferson as my favorite black show and character. George called them Honkys all day!

BTW years after I worked at an HBCU kids summer program for 5-6 years straight. I could count more then 30 parent sets who were Dr and Attorneys, or 2 Dds, or some combination of those. It was and is still real, and can happen. We know its a show and parents and kids handle things different but still saying its possible.
