Kendrick Lamar - HUMBLE

now you sound real foolish, ain't no damn way big sean should be mentioned in the same category as j. cole.

j.cole is a way better rapper than big sean.
As stated earlier in this thread, and should be stated in all music threads.........HOW GOOD MUSIC SOUNDS IS BASED ON THAT INDIVIDUAL PERSON'S OPINION.
If you like Drake or J Cole...I can't tell you shit. If I think K Dot is the current goat, you can't tell me shit. Most of the rappers I like aren't even that mainstream anyways.

My current favs are
Rick Ross - Niggas hate because of his fake ass gangsta personality. Even though he's made some of the best rap music over the last 8 years
Kendrick - the young nigga is just dope :dunno: AND conscious
Big Krit - Southern rapper that's conscious as well and mkes great music
Curren$y - not the best rapper at all. But this nigga raps about weed cars and women. Something I can relate to. Music to smoek to. Best "stoner" rapper out
Freddie Gibbs- Street rapper that just dope as fuck. Still underground in my opinion. But he always drops heat. My favorite street rapper doing now. I can't listen to these other cats rap about bricks anymore.

:lol:Well damn how come his opinion is cool and I'm hating

Because your shit was hate......nobody even knows he signed to Jay and he has all but 2 versus with Jay and been signed to him for 8 years. Its like saying Dre is responsible for Kendrick success.

Everybody knows he's signed to Jay.
Wasn't he the first rocnation artist?
Being signed to Jay allows u certain avenues

I swear this era is like when the NBA was searching for the next Jordan. Kendrick is on some Grant Hill shit and everybody is gassing it up. You read his lyrics on genius and it's so average. He spit it and the internet goes nuts. I think it's because he's anti-mumble rap but also anti-Drake.
Na...I think it's the other way around. I think in this age of fast quick on to the next/internet era, people don't have time to actually sit back and realize how good some of these artist are out here.
Like Lebron aint damn near Jordan? Same with that Dave Chappelle special. Everybody was all let down. Im like.....wtf are you expecting :dunno:
People want everything to be epic. And if it isn't...it's just ok.

well I can't argue with this. you are right we all have our own personal opinion.

my current favs are
drake - not being bias cause we related, but he has always worked on his craft and I was a witness to it as we was growing up and to see him grow as an artist was great to see. but I always liked his rap and he is an overall versatile artist, he can sing, rap, while dibble and dabble in different genres and still make good sounds.

j.cole - good rapper that speaks on his life story and keeps it real.

Just like anything else, all you can do is all you can do. Maybe he's great because everyone else is so trash. But that was the beauty of "CONTROL." He asked his peers to step the fuck up. So many people thought it was a diss record when it was more like a reckoning. And with the exception of Pusha, no one he named fucking got it. He let niggas know what it was with that verse. I'm about to raise this fucking bar, and yall can try to re-raise or get shit on. And right now, he's shitting on all his peers.
I actually like Kendrick. His debut LP with Interscope is one of the top albums dropped this decade. His follow up was eh to me. Just because someone is overrated it doesn't mean they're not a good artist.

Like I said, I can't be mad at Kendrick, he can only compete with what's in front of him. Sadly, the levels in mainstream rap is so low it makes him seem better than he is imo.

I hope his next album is really going to live up to the hype, because his last one was meh. We're so starved of creativity at the moment, anything a rapper does that deviates from the norm is automatically seen as innovative.

he has grown on me immensely...

he has greatly improved his flow

and even though at times I STILL can't catch everything he saying?

Its like he so good he FORCES to listen closely so you can catch his lyrics.
his voice is a little weird and whinny

kinda like EM.. but people complain when EM does it

Nice little bounce track. No Limit-esque. I take as a street single. Nothing too crazy. A little juvenile, but entertaining.

Respect...It's all subjective. I'll use this as an example.

"My fans can’t wait for me to son ya punk ass and crush your whole lil shit
I’ll Big Pun ya punk ass, you a scared little bitch
Tiptoein’ around my name, nigga, ya lame
And when I get at you, homie, don’t you just tell me you was just playin’"

That shit isn't dope. If anybody else spit that nobody would give a fuck. But, he's Kendrick and doesn't sing or rap about sippin' lean and he breaks the internet.

I think his bar structure has gotten lazy. I'm from Detroit so the bar for me right now is what guys like Em and Royce are doing lyrically. I don't think Kendrick would be at the top of the game in other eras with the way he writes right now. Section 80 and maad city Kendrick, yes. But, now, I dont think his pen is sharp. And he's sounding like Elmer Fudd lol.

Song is alright to me.

This doesn't come close to the impact of Blacker The Berry or his previous hit tho.

Kendrick can do better.

Being the g.o.a.t. of anything is just relative to peoples own personal experience, demographic, and bias.

I was just saying in a millennial age full of futures, young thugs, Drakes (no diss), and Jcole's (no diss either) someone in the majors like him is bound to stand apart. So my question stands is he really worthy of praise or is it just because he hasn't fell into that conformity people see him as so great.

And sad to say it being from the south, but when Atlanta, and New Orleans started making all party music and drug dealing music the bar got set on limbo last level.
The thing is, "so called hip hop greats" from Jay Z to Nas to Em think hes really good/great, but yet we have dudes on this board who cant even rap saying otherwise:hmm:we have respected people in the music industry, from writers to producers to singers to musicians that say hes good/great, but we have dudes on this board saying otherwise:hmm:; everyone has their opinion so one likes what he likes; but there are alot of bullshit opinions out there.....

So because Jay-z and Nas and industry people think he's great, every one should think he's great, too?

And non-rappers opinions aren't shit? I mean, I don't play golf, but I know Tiger Woods is a great golf player.

You say every one is entitled to their own opinion, but since they don't agree with you and Eminem, it MUST be some bullshit, right?

See, when niggas mention "Kendrick Lamar dick riders", they mean niggas like you who say shit like this.

I mean, I like most of his albums, too. But at the same time, I understand that some people don't like TPAB, some people don't like this song, some people just don't like him at all. And that's cool. I don't gotta act like people's opinions aren't shit because they don't agree with mine.

I don't gotta act like my music palate is so much fucking better than everybody's because Jay-z likes the same shit. Like Jay-z don't like some bullshit, too. Shit, he made The Blueprint 3, Jay-z thought that shit was hot. The fuck does he know?

You niggas got to stop dick riding. It is not your job to convince everybody you come across to like Kendrick Lamar's dirty draws.

You sir are not comprehending; why would someone, who is not involved in any way of a profession, also can not even do the profession, be more valid then some one who is involved with the profrssion in every way :hmm: your opinion is yours and who cares what it is; who cares what my opinion is, no one....i don't give a fuck what u or anyone else likes or thinks about music; makes me no difference; the point is if I or anyone is going to value someone else's opinion; it would be wise to value that opinion coming from someone who is involved with that profession.....

Why would you put value into somebody else's opinion?

Why would you want your opinion validated by someone like Jay-z or Nas? What does that do for you? It ain't like it's your music.

If YOU like it, that should be the ONLY opinion that matters to YOU.

I'm not going to act like I like some shit that I don't like just because someone else said they like it - that's weak. You gotta be your own man.

Gotta admit. I didn't like the beat at first, I just liked his flow on it.

But after hearing the beat through my studio headphones instead of my computer speakers, I like it now. I didn't get the bassline the first time. That shit sounds like it'll knock in the whip.
