Apparently there is incompetent, and then there is genius. Nothing in between.

Genius is rare. What he does takes ambition and guts.

Understanding the need to market oneself and how to do that does not require genius. So few people do it at all, that anyone who does it with any degree of success, comes off as a 'genius'.

A genius to me is someone who has figured out a way to have their brand woven into the fabric of society(e.g. Google;Disney).

If he can figure out a way to make BBB synonymous with basketball, and the go-to, or one of the go-to brands, then it might make sense. Otherwise, anyone with a modicum of business savvy and drive can do what this dude does. Ambitious? Yes. Genius? He'd have to do a lot more than say outlandish shit to get people to pay attention to him. Can he get people to buy BBB if his sons don't pan out, or if he isn't marketable? THAT would show high level talent for marketing.

There's the short term game and the long term game. This cat is pissing people off and selling t-shirts. That's short term. Long term game is he uses his influence to build relationships, partner with established\start up companies and reap the rewards over a long period of time.

But he opened up a website selling t-shirts. And BGOL declares him genius.:lol:

Im calling him one because I have yet to see a family with all 3 boys playing at the level they are playing on... do you know how hard it would be to produce 3 kids that pay attention, work hard and want it like that. That shit doesn't happen with black athletes....white athletes yes..them manning boys

he is getting them ratings as well..i had no clue who his boys are..now I do...the entire world knows..

the fucked up part is this... we sat and watched the media hate Richard Williams...this man should be held as a fucking genius...he produced 2 female who dominated the top 1 and 2 spots in a professional sport...they had to play each other to see who was 1 or 2 many times...

Not to mention if his son expects to see that billion dollar mark he has to get some of that money from shoe deals. He already burnt bridges with Jordan, so a team Jordan deal is unlikely. He burnt bridges with another of Nikes greatest front men in LeBron so Nike may not give him a serious look. The relative new comer Under Armour may not give him a second look because of how they burnt bridges with Curry. That leaves Adidas, converse and a few Chinese sneaker companies. Genius doesn't burn bridges before they are built.
 
I don't think it takes a genius to get the attention of your typical American these days. We live in an age where if you bark the loudest people will give you all the shine you want regardless of how ridiculous the things you say are. As long as you're outrageous and over the top Americans will stand in awe. How do you think we got the Kardashians, Trump and now a nigga that's saying he can out ball Michael Jordan and his kids will be worth a Billion one day despite all the variables involved on that path. That doesn't make any of these people geniuses. It just makes them bold and courageous enough to put themselves out there. None of them believe their own hype, but the illusion of belief is enough to mesmerize the typical American with a bankrupt view of themselves.
