So I guess it would be safe to say the Trump administration is supporting the Taliban by proxy.
How dirty and crooked Trump is makes me respect politicians like John McCain, Bernie Saunders, and Joe Biden much more. I remember when McCain was running for president and he hadn't won the republican nomination yet. He was traveling on the campaign trail via commercial airline, sitting in coach by himself. I don't know if that was optics or not, but I gained more respect for him when he did that.
Trump's base is meaningless. When Comey comes forward with charges (and one of them is treason), the only thing that is saving Trump (the GOP congress) is going to run like cockroaches when the lights come ou. The worst charge for a politician to be associated with is treason. Everyone is going to try to wash their hands of Trump.

I'm cautiously optimistic but recognize that the country I'm putting my faith in saw fit to elect this charlatan in the first place.
