Papoose CAN rap his ass off. In my opinion, his biggest problem has always been... the BEATS he actually chooses to put on his albums... and his inability to write (catchy) BLOCKBUSTER-level 'Hooks'... Like 50 Cent, or Drake.
When you put Papoose on OTHER people's SMASH BEATS... he goes tf off.

Here's a Prime Example..... This was a SMASH HIT record for..... Busta Rhymes.... before Papoose got on the remix.
It would be a 'whole different story' if most of his albums only had LOTS of tracks like THIS.... which was a HIT for The Lox...

I believe a design of an industry could get to a point where it promotes more images than others. That doesnt mean that everyone that works in and with that industry is aligned with it. If you are using Papoose as your reference, he's someone mainly known to 30+ hip hop fans and or folks from the northeast. I could say Jay Electonic is dope but a gang of BGOL members would think he's trash bc they haven't heard a successful or good (read as constantly played on the radio/video/talked about) track of his in years.

I would still have to disagree on the industry.....Another reason you probably wont hear it is because most of these big rappers cape for every other woman under the sun in their music, except for their own.
Remember, anything that pertains to the unification of the Black family is shunned upon in the modern day music industry, as far as hip hop is concerned.
