I understand the point of pop artist jacking dancehall, however, that is like the pot calling the kettle black because Dancehall artists are notorious for jacking other music genres, so they really don't have much to complain about.

The music created with it , some of it Called classical is. Plenty of horns, and the music made with them. Polkas, waltzes, chamber styles, and millions of other styles and devices are what merged with music styles from.othrr parts of the world and make up what we have now, including dancehall.
And now we live in a global society where you will continue to see someone from one place experiment with something from another place and merge it with their own style.
The radio we hear music on in the first place is a European Invention. You wanna keep dancehall? Get it off the radio. The electronics used to make the damn instruments to make dancehall have some european influence as well.
This whole argument of trying to keep something to itself is just goofy.

And it should be obscure. It's dope like that. But don't be surprised if people from other parts of the world get into the rythhm and decide to spit their own shit over it. Wale is a black dude from Nigeria and America - not jamaica, and he's on the remix too. Africans all over the continent have reggae artists who are direct knockoffs of Jamaican artists and no one gets made because they're singing to their own audience. People get mad at white people because they have potential access to a much larger audience. In our own community we call that player hating and counting the next man's pocket.

If you count the audience on the african continent that reggae and dancehall artists have, that audience may rival it. Tell your favorite artists to go to Africa and rock. Many already do. Morgan family heritage is not well known in the us but the hit the continent several times a year and enjoy pop star status. All over it.
Well you may be talking about the dancehall remix - but im talking about how carribbean artists are notorius for singing "sitting on the dock of the bay" in a reggae style and every other hit from around the world since the genre began. Reggae itself is a knockoff of Rnb from America that they were getting from am radio stations in new Orleans that could reach them. Eventually it morphed into its own rhythn and style, and that's how styles develop. I love many styles of Carribean music but let's stop this bullshit as if anyone just creates without influence from something else.
This is one of the problems with the industry in itself. A white artist is allowed to "explore musical boundaries", all while Black artists are funneled into cookie cutter stereotypical bs.
Hence another reason to support independent artists, where creativity reigns
