JONES, Oklahoma -
The family of a Jones High School basketball star is accusing the school district of more than a hard foul.

Kiara Lovings,16, is one of the best few players on the Lady Longhorns. She hoped to win a scholarship to play basketball in college.

A week ago, she posted a photo of herself and Purcell Head Coach Heather Graham on her Twitter profile page. Jones played at Purcell Friday night. Kiara said she was kicked off her team because Jones' School District officials ordered her to take down her Twitter photo, and she refused.

"I won't get to play; I won't get to a thousand points. Crazy. And you won't play again this year? Looks like I won't. Won't play at all,” said Lovings.

Jones' Superintendent of Schools Carl Johnson refused to talk on camera Friday. But did say Kiara was taken off the basketball team by one of her parents. Kiara's dad Melvin told News 9 that is untrue.

the girl posted a pic of herself with a RIVAL Black coach

her current WHITE coach aint like that and asked her to take it down

seems the girl said no...she is one of my role models (and few Black friends)

The girl's white coach was like ...OK and SENT her teammates to tell her she is kicked off the team.

the superintendent is LYING and said her parents took off the team.

Wait, you're a kid. Adults tell you to take some shit down. Your parents encourage you to buck authority.

Why do they want your kid to take it down?

And parents are supposed to support WHATEVER someone tells their kid to do?
 
She kept it real and showed the school district that she is the bawse that she ain't taking down shit. Oh well, there is always community college.

What was the picture harming?
Adults can't just say shit and you need to listen. Give a logical reason and then someone should listen but that whole cause i said so shit teaching kids to just listen to authority... yea we'll see how that works out if trump gets his way.

And now their daughter is off the basketball team. They can now go celebrate their victory with their daughter.

Well the lesson she learns is that if you're going to be convicted about something it needs to be worth it b/c there will be sacrifice. It's up to her to do whatever she wants I guess. This is a good lesson for her. I'm not sure what her stance was in this case. When your teacher, or someone of authority (your boss) tells you to do something, if you choose not to there are consequences. She's learning some adult lessons. She can choose to make her own way post this.
 
When you're a kid, you can't always run to social media when you get in trouble, or don't like what an authority figure says. This 'social shaming' court of public opinion isn't a way to get things done. That''s another lesson here.

"Oh, my mom says I can't spend the night at so and so's house, so i'm going to post it on social media. Why? I don't know. Well because she said so."

And we wonder why kids don't respect authority.
