George Karl book addresses issues with Melo

This dude gets such a pass from the media....back in the day he took unnecessary shots at Iverson after he got Billups and was just given a pass for such blatant fuckery...switch the roles and you would never hear the end of it

I've never met Melo to say if he is, or isn't lying, but yes. I'm mad cause its another case of an old cac throwing a brother under the bus after he rode his coattails to keep his social standing. Unnecessarily doing it at that. So you can say yet again he's using someone else to make his money off of while throwing him under the bus. But Melo is the selfish one???

He sneak dissed him by playing up Billups intangibles (implying AI had none) publicly and how the team was so much better after their trade.

Even if its true, saying those things publicly aint a good look. Karl never won nothing either. At least Phil won something. Karl got by off being a CAC PG that played for Dean Smith and his Carolina Tarheel connections in the NBA.

They kinda were a better team after Chauncey got there (I think they reached the WC finals the first year) so I'm not mad at him for saying that.

Melo played hero ball like AI but didn't bring it defensively like Chuck. Some points he make are valid

So,I guess it's okay for a former head coach to talk about something he knows nothing about,let alone talk about someone's personal life......George Karl needs to sit his stupid ass down somewhere.


Karl wrote Anthony and Martin not having fathers in their lives became a detriment to their personalities.

“Kenyon and Carmelo carried two big burdens: all that money and no father to show them how to act like a man,” Karl wrote.
 
I stated he went left. I stated my op that he violated. Still does not detract from his basketball points.
I'm just concerned with the Knicks and how this dude can't change it up to make us better.
 
Look many of y'all know I used to be a big time Melo defender but stopped that shit a couple years back

I think Karl made some points about him ON THE COURT

What I have a problem with is this, his speaking on him and the other players upbringing that's irrelevant and unacceptable not to mention none of his fucking business

Also since when has George Karl been known as a defensive coach or stressed defense?

Sure he coached Gary Payton but Payton is a defender period would've been that anywhere

Last point when you continue to have issues with your star players that leads me to believe that the problem is YOU and not them

Say what you want about Demarcus Cousins but he NEVER wanted Karl as the coach, was mad as soon as he heard about it and that leads me to believe his reputation with the players in the NBA is TERRIBLE

Do you buy Suburban and then get pissy 10 years later after a paradigm shift, that it's bad on gas??? Melo is and has always been what he is. A score of varying efficiency, who is better as an iso player. That's been the book on him since Oak Hill. Why in the universe would is he expected to change what he is because the game is now different???
 
Karl underachieved having 2 hof players in their prime and a great supporting cast.
Without Melo they were in the lottery
If he complains a player isn't doing something it is the coaches job to make them do it otherwise what the fuck are you coaching for?

He had Melo as a rookie and made Melo the player he is today because instead of teaching defense he whined about it to the media instead.
Melo TRIED to play defense when Mike Woodson was the coach...why? Cause he demanded it. Melo ATTEMPTS defense when Coach K is coaching him why? Cause that's what it demands. But this ain't about his career it's about Karl

I'm not arguing about who he is now. I'm arguing why he is the way he is- because he has a shitty ass coach in George Karl.
Like I said, if Melo came into the game and played for pop or Brown do you think they'd allow him to do what he didn't do under Karl?
They'd sit him or make him play defense.. TRAIN him to be an NBA PLAYER
They not going to the media with it they going to make it happen especially if melo went to the pistons the team would make sure he played defense too
I'm saying that Karl was the coach and got a rookie and made sure melo never learned to play any type of meaningful defense.

The part that's often overlooked. Melo was the only one from that draft class who never missed the postseason with his original team. He carried the Nuggets & lost to superior teams in the post season. If Melo doesn't play D, that's on the coach...not the player. Karl is a punk ass bitch who does nothing, but talk shit & throw dudes under the bus.

Ain't nobody motivating melo.
The team's he been on have been ass. When they were decent he took them knicks to the playoffs like he took the nuggets to the playoffs.
He took the money and SO WHAT. It's his job to get paid and the Gm's job to assemble a good fucking team.

Came in and they made the playoffs. The 1 year his bigs were healthy they went to the conference finals where he showed up but they lost to the damn lakers.
Went to the knicks and they instantly went to the playoffs but again his team broke down around him.
He was expected to beat the big 3 of the celtics by himself
and then the next time beat miami heat and the big 3 they had by himself.
And I'm far from a melo apologist but I'm tired of people trying to make him something he's not. He's a fucking scorer that can score from anywhere and hit big shots. That's a piece you can win around
Everybody ain't born to do everything so in turn you need a point guard who can get him the ball in his spots and run the offense meaning not get him the ball when it's not his turn to get it.
It's not a coincidence his best years are the years he had a good point guard.

I keep telling anyone that would listen this! IMO, Kyle Lowry is perfect to play with him. It's also amazing how he gets criticized for not leaving, choosing the be his own player & not ring chase. Dude can't win for losing. Like you said, Knicks went to #2 in the east when they put a team around him. Kidd retires, Felt gets the gun charge, Tyson is hurt...shit fell apart in NYK. Not his fault.

If Melo played with Shaq in 06 he would have a ring.....if melo played with bron from 10-14 he would have a ring and all this wouldnt mean shit. Paul Pierce never played D before KG he gets KG and a ring and he becomes so great player
