They are not covering 200k.. Max maybe 120k because that would suggest in their contract a lot of the money is hidden like night diff and shift diff and that would have to be at minimum 10% of their base pay.. MTA not allowing that shit
Don't know about the 200k part but your right on the other parts
there are senior operators that get closeI think if you never go home and damn near sleep on the job its possible.. maybe not two hundred gee but very close to it...
nope install and line techs, switch techs, engineers etc... VPs in corporate are over $300kThats verizon corperate tho
Probably VP of IT

Until tax time....with these city jobs, base salaries are shit. overtime is where its at.
lol head of mta's is prob clocking mills..everybody kno the nigs behind the scenes pocketing mad moneyC'mon... Y'all telling me that a train/bus operator can make almost $100/hr (btw, that's $202k/yr). Without a degree and a blue collar worker, hell, I doubt the head of MTA doesn't make that much.

This is subjective.with these city jobs, base salaries are shit. overtime is where its at.
true. But why settle for base, when they pay you for working extra hours? That base keeps your head above water, the overtime lets you get the nicer house, send the kids to Catholic school, and a decent vacation every year. This is subjective.

yes... lets just say I've seen a relative's w2...Bruh you MTA? Ok tell me how many hours OT these senior cats makin to touch 200k... You telling me these dudes doing 1800+ hours OT? For the year?
I hear LIRRMTA, Metro North or LIRR ?
yes... lets just say I've seen a relative's w2...
he has been a motorman since 85 (pops got him in transit as a booth clerk out of high school - took the train operator test at 20)... so he has +30 years already... maxed at IIRC $34 base - he has seniority but prefers nights
the way he explained it to me- a normal shift is automatic OT, he easily does 20 to 25 hours every week - without doing extra shifts (8 hours + 3 to 5 hours per day) depending on how far the job took him from his assigned terminal or yard.
IIRC differential for evenings and weekends was around $1.50/ hr 6p to 6a and all weekend
Holiday pay is double time + $2/hr -
The year I saw, he said he was working to avoid going home- so he put in to cover whatever... and to him it was free money.
The thing I didn't realize before he told me, is they get paid not at end of shift but until they return to their terminal or yard, no matter if its Rockaway or the Bx. So on OT even though he may sleep while on the way to the needed yard or terminal and at the yard while waiting to be sent out and again deadheading back for hours, he was still getting paid the whole time
when they want to push it 40 hours OT is not impossible
Once again this is subjective. Not everyone wants to buy a house. Spending habits, rent, bills are all important factors. Plus work/life balance. Unless you stacking up for a vacation, a child or etc nobody wants to be working like a madman for OT. Im an athletic guy with a social life so work/life balance is key for me. Had an old job where I turned down OT. Again all this is personal preference.true. But why settle for base, when they pay you for working extra hours? I already agreed it's subjective. I just listed the benefits of ot. If you can survive off your base salary in NYC, more power to you.Once again this is subjective. Not everyone wants to buy a house.
