Got a friend in Winnipeg, Manitoba that does really well selling stuff on Kijiji. Whether it's stuff within the family, or items that their grandchildren have outgrown ... or fully-sealed and packaged, new items that they win in contests ... they turn a good profit on there. Especially when they're able to re-sell stuff for more than what it's probably initially worth (that the buyer can't find in their region).

friendly advice selling on amazon during the holiday season as a new seller...

you won't get your money for a few months. when sellers start new during the busy shopping seasons a red flag automatically goes up. you will get a notification stating that your account is under review while you are selling. they will hold funds until such a time they are comfortable with you selling on there. the first time i started selling they held over 100k for 3 months.

doesn't mean much when 92% of it is spent on mortgages repairs and property tax. what are you left with? i already know because i have a friend with 100+ units and clears about 150k in his pocket after the fact.

it depends on what you are selling. i pay out the ass on shipping expenses but the customers are actually paying the price. in my pricing of products i advertise free shipping but the cost of shipping and supplies is in the price.

the big factor is packaging and shipping it well enough so it's not damaged and costing you more money. i make sure to do that so i can keep the value down. By keeping the value down that keeps the actual cost of shipping down.

for example a 500.00 computer 24 x 18 x 18 and 28lbs a label through ups from say ohio to california with my discount is about 29.00(without the discount 48.00) if i set it's value at 100. if i set it at it's actual value then it's 40.00. is it wise because the package can be lost? for me the risk is acceptable because in all the time i've done this, only 2 computers were lost in shipping. any damage that's done 99% of the time is cosmetic (damage to computer case) in which case the 100.00 is usually far more then enough to replace.

in the beginning i just shipped them in their boxes and actually it wasn't bad for every 175 i may get 3 with cosmetic damage from shipping which i considered an acceptable risk

but with ebay and amazon those were affecting performance percentages so i had to resort to dual boxing them.

do the packaging yourself too. i goto home depot and lowes to buy boxes and those rolls of brown paper painters and butchers use to pad the contents. comparing me spending 2.00 on a heavy duty box and a 10 roll of paper that can package 6 computers to fedex and ups charging me 25.00-36.00 for doing the same thing

da don thanks for breaking it down your packaging process, seems you got it all figured it out in terms of online selling

It was basically a trial-and-error process until I got it right I'm not sure what you're selling but as you go along with it you'll see ways of making it better

Before I forget definitely sign up with a carrier such as UPS or FedEx. I would recommend UPS because if you can obtain an account manager you will get a much greater discount on shipping out items

Am interested in online selling , i guess finding the right product to buy cheap or in bulk and selling at high price, from the UK but this thread inspired me to really find a second hustle

Dude... I would really love to chop it up with you.... I have so many ideas & nobodyto bounce them off of... I come here to get or grow my ideas.., I feel like a kid with talent, no direction... needed a producer to help create that snag hit.

If you niggaahz stop hating on each other we can pool our ideas to strengthen the others weakness in an attempt to create generational wealth.

It's not like we are in the same city / state stepping on each other's toes. & even if we were in the same place, there is more than enough money to go around.

Nothing serious just something to have fun with....
