2017 CHICAGO BEARS Off-Season Thread

All I'm saying is career backup comes in, does well for a few games, the rumblings start about being soooooo much better, the offense flows, the teams plays better etc... How many time have we seen this story just in terms of Bears QBs??? I'm not disagreeing with the assessments of what Hoyer has done. But this is always the case with backup QBs. They can do well for 4-6 games, and that's really about it. If they were actually capable of more they'd be starting.

Jay is what he is. He doesn't bother me anymore. In hindsight we got exactly what we should've expected. That's not really his fault, we thought we had a top tier QB and he's just good enough to disappoint. But when the squad was good enough to compete Jay was like the X-Factor. If he's good, it's gonna be a good day and they could've beaten anyone. If not??? We already know. But his worst years have come at a time when the team have sucked and because he's not well liked people slam him and lay it at his feet. I'll admit, I like his attitude. The body language police ate always trying figure out what this look means, or why you didn't get fired up or some dumbshit like that. I've gotten it so many times in my life and I think it's comical. So I understand what it's like. Maybe that's why Im not as hard on him.

I think Cutler is taking the blame for the team and front offices failures.

He's to blame for some of course

He got fucked in the Tresman years bc they let the defense go to shit while the offense was prime time. And the Hester WR experiment was a fucking disaster. You are right about that. And I'll always say Jay is the toughest motherfucker I've seen at QB; his first four years, no line, he took some fucking SHOTS and got back up 9 out of 10. Had some of the worst LT's I've ever seen (J'Marcus Webb; Chris Williams; a washed up Orlando Pace). But there is just shit he has not improved on in 8 years; good team, bad team, good front office; bad front offense. All arm; mechanics still bad; decision making, suspect. It's just time for everyone to part ways.

I can agree with that. But we need a leader and good decision maker at that position in order to win.

Cut Cutler loose, start Hoyer, draft a QB

I agree that we need to draft a QB, but I agree with the other poster, despite Cutler making a few mistakes here and there, he's still our best option at QB; until we get better. Cutler aint Brady, but I always wondered how he'd be if he had a Dallas Cowgirls type OL and receivers who were able to get separation and run the right routes.

He'd be Tony Romo. A guy who puts up numbers but is still a loser because he makes horrible decisions with the ball. A guy who dips his toe in the playoffs every 3 or 4 years, but that you cant win with consistently.

Do we need to draft a QB or some durable receivers?
Jesus!! Smh......

Bears' Kevin White (fibula) placed on injured reserve

Kevin White's NFL career can't get off the ground.

The Chicago Bears announced Wednesday they placed the former first-round pick on injured reserve after suffering a fractured left fibula and a high ankle sprain in the team's Week 4 win over the Detroit Lions.General manager Ryan Pace said surgery is an option for White. He could be eligible to return in eight weeks if healed. Former first-round corner Kyle Fuller was previously placed on IR. Only one player can return from IR per team.......

Doesn't matter who we pick with the 1st round pick. I'm so close to being done with this franchise. I remember Pace wanting to bring in Todd Bowles but Ted Phillips wanted Fox. I remember them passing on Bruce Arians..... It's hard to manage a team this poorly

They cursed! Bleacher Report still have the Bears winning too many games, in their mock draft they have the Bears picking 12th and selecting D. Cook. They need to get a top 3 pick, nothing lower than that.

Shit, go back to the early 90s and look. The Bears 1st rounders are littered with busts and never lived up to the hype players. Only really hit on Urlacher and Tommi Harris before he got hurt.:smh:

Greg Olsen might be our best draft pick, and we never benefited from him, because of our shitty offense

True, and the shitty turf. He stayed a possession guy when he was a Bear. Catch the ball and get tackled right away. Now he looks like a real live game breaker. What we thought he would be for the Bears. I think the shitty field diminishes allot of speed, and change of direction. All of the Bears fast players over the years were straight line players. Even Hester was a 1 cut and go dude. Why cant the Bears get field turf anyway??? Youre never gonna get good grass for football where Soldier field is, just not in the cards right off the lake.

"..gotta laugh to keep from cryin'"

Curtis Enis :smh:
Michael Haynes :smh::smh:
David Terrell :smh::smh::smh:

I just fucking KNEW David Terrell was gonna be that dude. Turns out A-Train was the better Michigan pro. Why didnt the Bears resign him anyway??? Had 2 thousand yard season if I remember correctly.

The Bears will struggle but I like the direction they are going. Mofos talking about fail 1 picks(ya'll forgot Cade by the way:puke:), but what about the fail coaches? Wandsted(sp) and Jauron come to mind:smh::smh::smh:.

Some of you act like Cutler was throwing four interceptions every game

I don't watch alot of Bears games, but when I do,he seem like he don't care at all.

Mind you,I was a defender of his, because one of the reasons,he played for the Broncos and still til this day I think the owner gave McDummy too much power for a coach, who hasn't done anything..When,that stupid ass coach traded Cutler,I remained a fan of his...But,when you have a quarterback that doesn't seem to care about winning games and quit on the team it's a problem.

I even agree, that the Bears should of fixed the offensive line along time ago,but it's still no excuse to not care most of the time.

Cutler has that Eli Manning look

He has a I don't give a fuck look on his face, regardless.

If he wins, people look at it as him having confidence and not getting down on himself.

If he loses, people look at it as he doesn't give a fuck.

He's really in a no win situation. The bottom line is you have to win as a QB, or they will complain about anything you do. If you have too much fun. If you celebrate too much. If you act aloof.

And there ain't shit Jay can do about it to change it either. I've gotten the "You act like you don't care, you have an I don't care attitude" my entire life. It used to be annoying when I was younger because you can't tell based on outward appearance in allot of cases. Now... I really don't give a fuck as far as it looking like I dont. Other people overanalysing is other peoples issue. I think Jay had come to that point in his life a looooooong time ago.

I know its only been 2.5 weeks (because he took over in the second half of that Dallas game), but over the last 3 weeks the best rookie running back in the NFL hasnt been none of the high drafted rookie RB's, its been 5th rounder Jordan Howard. The scary thing is that he's learning how to catch the ball as well.

Cant wait to see more from him. Especially vs the Vikings.

We just blew a lead....:hmm:......lets see what we can do....

BEARS!!!!!!!!!!!

I am not upset with this loss.
There is some promise for the future.
Jordan Howard is a legit RB, good field vision and patience.
Over 500 yards against a shitty defense, not bad.
Hoyer got 3 consecutive games of over 300 yards and no turnovers.
Hoyer isnt the future franchise QB but his contract is more sensible
than crybaby cutler.

Stupid penalties, stopped running the ball and break defensive breakdowns man reasons for lost

Also that kicker barth is dumpster garbage

Just finished Luke Cage... What I miss??? Oh. The squad lost??? Ehhh... I'm sure Chitowns summary will be more entertaining than had I watched anyway.

That's what's so funny about this, they paid all that money to Cutler and got nothing out of it, they could have just paid some journeyman at way less the money and got the same thing.

Howard does look good though, Kevin White can't stay healthy and L. Floyd looks lost out there. I prefer they suck the rest of the season and get a top 3 pick.

Come on dude, when did Cutler ever cry? The way he was being hit the first couple of years he was far from a crybaby. He had every reason to bash the team, coaches and O Line, but stayed quiet.

Give the man some credit

Cutler will go down as the best statistic QB BEARS franchise ever had,
but as a QB that can lead a team he falls short.

I was a cutler apologist for many years. I liked former GM Jerry D'Angelo
breaking form tradition and getting a good free agent prospect.
Unfortunately, when he arrived he didn't have the necessary offensive
scheme that suited his abilities.

There are various other reasons on why cutler never lived to his potential
being in a bears jersey, which has been posted by me and others countless times.
From bad coaching, inept bears front office of hiring the right person for
making football decisions and even the lack of professionalism that existed within
the organization.

But being a BEARS fan its frustrating to see how to this team is presently.
'Crybaby' may not be the best word. Maybe sulking overrated athlete, who
didnt live up to the hype of being a strong armed QB; who just didn't have the ability
to persevere through the storm of organizational mediocrity. Just hoping on hope,
that he can lead the team. There were good glimpses of him being a potential 'elite'
QB but there were games where he was totally ineffective.

I just know one thing, this will probably be cutler's last season with the BEARS.
Brian Hoyer or Matt Barkley may not be the answer for future franchise QB, but
it definitely will not be cutler. It's time for him to take his 'strong arm' somewhere else.

nah

your organization failed the man

how is he supposed to perform when you wont give him an offensive line that stops him from getting hit?

If you guys ever did cut him, watch him go somewhere else and ball out

Oh no doubt the organization failed him but
cutler is also responsible for his own ineptness on the field

NOOOOOO.....

Jay is one of the toughest SOBs I've seen play the position. I'll ALWAYS give him that. But he has NEVER learned that he can't make every throw. His decision making has not caught up with the immense arm strength he has. Pressure burst pipes. Jay struggles with it. I'll alway respect his toughness. But his ceiling was 2011 IMO.

Yeah man. I was a Jay apologist for many years. I still think he gets a raw deal, but he is what he is. A talented guy, who makes poor decisions. That always equals inconsistency. At 33, that ain't changing.
