You're right. That's why I've always been a fan of Gilbert. Gilbert is making himself a lot of money elsewhere and seems to look at the team as a long-term hold. Gilbert is the one who fucked it up for other owners knowing he'd pay the penalties($50 millions).

Few owners will do that. They still are talking small market size when that doesn't even matter these days.
Ticket sales go up for winners. More television. More jerseys sold. The Spurs kept the small market myth alive simply because they are a fucking boring product. If Lebron were in SAS, people would have stopped that market size talk years ago. Spurs shit would be every fucking where.
Owners are going to have to put up or shut up. Cheap owners will just be farm systems for owners who have true superstars and need pieces.
