NBA Offseason 2016 - FreeAgency money dried up...Waiters gets $2.6 after OKC pulled $6+ offer...

There are actually restrictions, though. As soon as the W’s go under the salary cap to make room for Durant, they lose all their exceptions except for the Room Mid-Level Exception, $2,898,000. A team may always add players at the league minimum salary (which depends on the player’s seniority). So they'll need to get players to take way less money and in this market, who is going to do that.. you got bums getting 10M a season.

Lance Thomas gives Knicks a discount as bench shaping up

What's funny is now that KD is joining th Warriors he'd all of a sudden just a jump shooter

Who did they lost besides Barnes and Bogut who they already replaced with better talent?

they had to release multiple players to get under the cap to make the deal. Zaza isn't better than Bogut where they needed it though (defense)..for instance, Bogut averages 5 times the number of blocks as Zaza. They had to (or will have to) release Barnes, Barbosa, Speights, Ezili, and Bogut to make it work. So the bench is going to be much thinner.

ya I don't see them losing all those players...losing barnes bogut and ezeli might be all...I remember having this discussion and warrior fans were thinking they'd have to lose barnes...bogut and livingston which would still be worth it...being able to keep livingston is a plus

rereading the thread now but folks were talking about KD to GS since feb.

Russell Westbrook Has No Interest In Extension With Thunder

Westbrook_Russell_okc_151211.jpg

Russell Westbrook has no interest in working on a renegotiation and an extension of his current contract with the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Westbrook is scheduled to be a free agent in 2017.

Westbrook could re-sign with the Thunder but he doesn't believe it makes sense financially to do the renegotiation to improve his salary for 16-17 and an extension.

Without a longer term commitment from Westbrook after losing Kevin Durant, the Thunder could consider their trade options this offseason.

Sam Presti said he has not communicated with Russell Westbrook via phone, but said they've exchanged text messages and Westbrook has spoken with other staffers.

"I've been attending to other parts of my duties," Presti said, "but I'll talk with Russell and the other guys here probably either tonight or tomorrow."

You think so? They only have one 2.9 mid-level exception and the rest have to be league minimums. You think Barbosa gonna take the league minimum?

They should have their bird rights by now shouldn't they? Maybe not Barbosa but them
Other ones that's been there three years.

They just need to trade him then and start all over.

Not from what I read. I'm still reading shit trying to piece this all together though so I might have missed something.

They can also go over the cap for their own players

There are some restrictions though. . That's why the reports that based on the CBA, they had to release players to get under the cap before signing Durant and (which means they won't be their own players anymore) then they're only left with one mid-level exception of 2.9 million and league minimums.

"In order to squeeze in Durant, the Warriors also have to renounce veterans Leandro Barbosa and Marreese Speights because their higher cap holds take up too much space. Both could return either for their minimum salary or the room mid-level exception."

good old post @ day carver...I underestimated bogut's value since I hardly saw GS play...but I remembered this discussion so when bogut went down in the finals I knew it'd be an issue for GS...a lil bit of foreshadowing in this old thread I'm reading

Bogut is great defensively and an excellent passer and screener; Livingston is easier to loose but I think the lost of Bogut would hurt them...

They can also go over the cap for their own players

They can only go over the cap on Mcadoo

"The more interesting machinations come in the rest of the roster spots. Golden State decided to make both James Michael McAdoo and Ian Clark unrestricted free agents, but they have Early Bird rights on McAdoo, meaning they can go over the salary cap (and his minimum hold) for a contract could be worth as much as the estimated average player salary ($6.191 million for this season) that must run at least two seasons. The Warriors cannot do that for Clark because he only has one year with the team but can with veteran swingman Brandon Rush, who started part of last season while Barnes was hurt."

B, you must not have been watching the heat. Lebron Carried those heat Teams. Wade should thank Lebron for extending his career for him... Nah, lebron earned all 3 championships.

The Heat won their first title without LeBron on the team, Mr. "you must not have been watching." And Wade was damn near as good as LeBron on the first two trips to the Finals.

No Wade, no Miami titles. Simple as that.

I'm talking about recent history. First you gave Wade those 2 championships. Now you admit it. If you finally admit what we all know (LBJ has always been the best player on any team he's been on), then how can it even be Wade's championships??? I know Wade is great, let's just not get carried away in praise of others. Lebron's been the best player in the NBA the last 10 years. Since MJ he's been the most dominant force in the NBA (other than giving Shaquille, Grant Hill, and Kobe a few years in between)

LOL @ "finally admit."

I agree LeBron was the best player on those teams.

That is no admission that LeBron "Carried those heat Teams." That's fucking fiction. It's a childish way of summarizing a more complex reality. LeBron has never carried a team to a title-- no one person ever has because it is impossible. This last Cavs team, despite his best effort, loses without monster performances by Kyrie and any rational observer knows that. Those more balanced Heat teams thrived because of collaborative greatness.

None of that was even my point. We were discussing the lack of loyalty the Heat have shown Wade and you turned it into a discussion of who deserves credit for their titles, neglecting the fact that Wade delivered the franchise a title long before LeBron came to Miami to play with him. So their being co-leaders the first two years and Wades subsequent decline isn't the issue-- Wade led Miami to a title without LeBron and LeBron never would have come to the franchise without Wade. The Miami Heat need to appreciate that Wade has won three titles for them.

You turning down probably the best center in the league for Kevin Love or Ariza?

So let me see

Irving, McRae, Mo
Jr, Shum
James, Jefferson
Cousins, Fyre, Jones
TT, Khau

Irving,McRae,Mo
Jr,Shum
James,Ariza
Love,Jefferson,Jones
TT,Fyre,Khau

I was thinking about matching up against the dubs, in crunch time

Curry - Irving
Klay - Jr/Shum
Iggy - Jefferson
KD - Ariza
Green - James

Mum have to go check out boogie's defense against pick and rolls and screen coverage to see if he's a better defender than TT on those situations
