NBA Offseason 2016 - FreeAgency money dried up...Waiters gets $2.6 after OKC pulled $6+ offer...

Wade's opportunities to leave drying up (1:37)

Bulls and Knicks no longer options

The Denver Nuggets, armed with some $28 million in salary-cap space, continue to pursue Dwyane Wade, sources told ESPN's Marc Stein.

Wade has made it known that he will not play for less than last season's $20 million salary.

The Miami Heat, at this point, have only $19 million in cap space. Denver and Dallas are teams Wade's representatives have reached out to, sources said. Due to recently agreed-upon signings, both the New York Knicks andChicago Bulls have priced themselves out of the market for Wade.

Drafted in 2003 in the first round by the Heat, Wade has spent the entirety of his NBA career in Miami and has won three championships.

According to sources, Wade has grown frustrated with the Heat, as they prioritizedKevin Durant and Hassan Whiteside in free agency. Durant met with Heat representatives on Sunday in The Hamptons and is expected to make his free-agency decision by Monday, while Whiteside reached a verbal commitment with Miami on a four-year contract that could be worth up to $98 million.

Over the years, Wade has twice taken pay cuts to help the Heat manage their salary cap, and he has taken short-term deals to help the team with flexibility. He signed one-year contracts each of the past two summers. He averaged 19 points, 4.1 rebounds and 4.6 assists while playing in 74 games, his most in five years, this past season.

The Milwaukee Bucks, meanwhile, have a free-agent recruiting meeting scheduled with Wade next week, after he returns from his European vacation, sources told Stein. Wade played collegiate ball at nearby Marquette. The Bucks, like the Knicks and Bulls, don't presently have the requisite salary-cap space to sign Wade, but Milwaukee could get there if they find the right trade for center Greg Monroe, who is widely believed to be available.

Although the strong belief league-wide remains that the Heat and Wade will ultimately find a resolution, like they always do, sources say both Denver and Milwaukee are hanging around in case Wade decides it's time to leave the only franchise he has ever known.

Wade's representatives put out feelers to several teams, including the San Antonio Spurs, before the start of free agency. The Spurs are not interested, according to multiple NBA sources.

Pass

But Lillard isn't a pass first PG.
In fact, there's only 1 very good pass first PG in the league...CP3. Rondo is a pass first PG and that's because he can't shoot.
My point is... When it comes to PGs... There is no better option than Russ.
I know that's why I brought up Chris Paul as the best option for him to play with.

Just read this on a website about KD......

"If he signs a "1+1" deal and becomes a free agent the following summer, he could conceivably sign a five-year extension with the Thunder that would tally something close to $234 million - that's nearly a quarter of a billion dollars in a six-year span - which is significantly more than he will make if he signs with another team this summer or long-term with another team in the summer of 2017."

The cap space shit is difficult to understand. But that number sounds about right.

Your correct 2017 is when players should sign that 5 yr deal

The Knicks FINALLY get a good grade on a trade from RealGM:

Grading The Deal: Courtney Lee Signs $50M Deal With Knicks
BY CHRISTOPHER REINA

Courtney Lee has always seemed like an ideal complementary shooting guard with his stable all-around game, yet he’s been traded five times in his career and has never last more than two seasons with any single team. Lee has always been desired by others just a little bit more than he’s been needed by his incumbent teams to not include to make trades materialize.

Lee presumably has found a long-term home with a four-year, $50 million deal with the New York Knicks. Lee will start for the Knicks and his salary is below market value for an average starter.

Lee can’t create his own opportunities let alone carry an offense for any extended stretch, but he’ll certainly augment a quality offense. The Hornets scored an outstanding 111.4 points per 100 possessions over nearly 850 minutes after acquiring Lee at the deadline. Lee also scored 1.40 points per possession in transition.

The Knicks already have a pair of ball dominant players in Carmelo Anthony and Derrick Rose, so Lee is instantly a better fit at shooting guard than Arron Afflalo who is a similar three-point shooter but is a higher usage player with his propensity to post up.

The Knicks practically begged Afflalo to opt out and he signed a two-year, $25 million deal with the Kings that contains a partial guarantee for Year 2, which certainly represents better value in terms of years than Lee, but there very clearly had to be a parting of personalities. The four-year deal for Lee mirrors Joakim Noah’s contract length and the Knicks feel confident of what retooling in 2020 around Porzingis will look like, but that’s kind of the whole problem with their shift to win-now mode. With a healthy and productive season from their starting five, the Knicks' best case scenario is probably as a low playoff seed in the East.

Lee is a career 38.4 percent shooter on three-pointers on 3.5 attempts per 36 minutes. Lee and Kristaps Porzingis will be responsible for spacing the floor in the Knicks’ halfcourt offense since Noah’s range extends about five feet and Derrick Rose has shot under 30 percent on three-pointers each of the past two seasons on a shockingly high volume.

Lee is still one of the NBA’s better, more engaged perimeter defenders. At the age of 30, there will be some decline in his lateral quickness over the life of this deal but he should play it out fairly well due to his relatively limited role.

The Knicks also pursued Eric Gordon in free agency, who signed for virtually the same amount of money. Gordon is four years younger than Lee but his injury history would have made that a riskier signing even though it has more upside since he’s a more dynamic player. Lee is a better fit within the Knicks’ existing roster and is a surer bet to simply provide consistent defense and shooting.

Grade for Knicks: A-

Despite the Indiana Pacers’ propensity to bring in hometown players and the number of teams Lee has played for in his career, it is shocking he’s never gone home in his career. Lee would actually be a great fit for the Pacers, certainly better than Monta Ellis.

Lee played for the New Jersey Nets early in his career and this is a different sort of homecoming. For a player who has bounced around as much as Lee, signing a four-year deal a few months before beginning your 31-year-old season is tremendous.

Grade for Courtney Lee: A

Rondo's 2nd year will be an option year. I'm glad GarPax wasn't that stupid.

I say - Let Rondo act an ass if he wants to, trade Taj for a first round draft pick, and let this wash season be over with quickly.

Only thing interesting about this season will be which rookie contract guys will step up to stay with the team.

YEa....
i just read that Rondo 2nd year aint guaranteed. They signed him to a tradable contract and protected themselves all in one move.

Taj is gone because he's getting older and this is his last contract year. Taj will try to put up good numbers as well because he hits the market when the cap space goes over 110 mill. If I were the Bulls, Id let him ball until Jan, so he can build some trade value. Or if they fear injury, trade him early. Nikola is a restricted FA next year. He'll improve to get paid. They already got pics floating around on the internet with him lifting weights and shit...lol

THe only fucked up thing is that most of these teams dont know whose for real, and whose just performing for a payday. Once a lot of these dudes show that they aint worth what theyre being paid, i wouldnt be shocked if the owners tried to lock them out in a few years. Crying that theyre broke because they didnt get a return on their investments; i.e. championships, ticket sells etc.

Btw..the Bulls are lucky they got Butler at that price. A young two-way player like him. If he were a FA this year or next...he could easily get 10mill more per year.

Ok....
So more than likely LBJ will probably do another 1 year deal, then get something like 40 per next year, then retire after that final contract year.

LBJ, Steph, Westbrook and CP3 can basically rest half of next year and they'll still get their money. But each one of these guys still have something to prove; Blake Griffin, Antetokounmpo, Gordon Hayward, Derrick Rose, Tyreke Evans, Kyle Lowry , Ibaka, C.J. McCollum (strangely made a big leap right before the cap year... lol). Those are the most notable names for next years FA. Theres a few others...but these names stood out the most: Each one of those guys with put up huge numbers next year.

Only reason im observing next years FA is because this is the pool my Bulls will try to pull from after we fail next year,.

The Kings rescinded their offer to Seth Curry. He should have signed with New Orleans last year. He would have gotten pt with all the injuries they had. Maybe the Lakers give him a shot.

He'd be makings mistake. If he think he has game he better go to the team that has Deron as their starter. Might get a shot at making some real money next year

musta really wanted out SAC...I thought they pulled the deal on their own too which woulda been odd but I read his agent asked them too...he'll get a deal elsewhere on his name alone...OT but jordan's sons musta really been ass...on jeezus I'm knocking up a tall bitch by year's end

I don't think Seth wants to live in his brothers shadow. There's enough backup spots to go around and teams are always looking for a shooter. If Durant doesn't go to GS then they're probably going to resign Livingston and Barbosa.

I can't call it...just a hunch

Oh yeah Juwan Howard Jr played well in the summer league yesterday. Doesn't seem that long ago that Juwan Howard was still in the league.
