Charles Barkley: LeBron James will never be a top-five NBA great

BmWMdbHIMAA-mvt.png

Has LeBron not tasted revenge in ANY of his finals series. He has beaten the spurs for a championship and now beaten the Warriors. The Mavs and OKC haven't been good enough to go back to the Finals

@Tha Great Muta . Dude... All Due respect, this shit isn't that deep to me! I like coming here to bullshit, talk shit and fuck with the fellas, but... this right here?!?! Humbled the hell out of me concerning LeBron man for real! Dude is on point man!

there is a much larger agenda in place when they go in on him

It's unwarranted and driven by something else other that the game

This is why when I see people spouting the same shit I hear from these reports I just shake my head.

It's almost a litmus test

It's funny. Their defense was geared to stop Lebron and let the other guys win. Unfortunately, those are the same guys Lebron had to lead in scoring, rebounding, and assists when Miami won its 2 chips.

What other player led three finals winning teams in points, rebounding, and assists? Can someone please answer that trivia question?
Thank you

No doubt. I've said it before, I really do stuff to aggravate King T and them, but ultimately, I'm very appreciative of what we are witnessing in terms of him as a person moreso than his greatness on the court. Think about it.... He had the foresight to send his friends to school, AS AN 18 YEAR OLD!?!? Dude has been mature and doing the right thing for a long time Fam...

Zeke don't know shit about basketball man. Not one damn thing. Lebron ain't really do shit. Leading both teams in scoring, rebounds, assists, blocks, ain't shit man. He lost the finals in 2011. Zeke needs the Skip Cult to teach him about basketball.
Exactly

That's why there is something about how he does things that seems to rub certain people the wrong way.
It has very little to do with basketball.
A man plays out his contract and goes somewhere else and he gets hated for that?
Not disappointment, hatred.

I said it in another thread. It's being pushed by team owners and league via the proxy called the media. He has shown the blueprint for players. How to take control of your career and create your own destiny. How to use the system to your advantage.

They use Jordan who btw is a partial team owner to try and minimize his achievements and dilute his legacy. Jordan gladly does it because he is now a part of the borg and was always a company man plus it helps his shoe sales.

The reason why his decision rubbed fans raw (not just Cleveland's) is because we were told to feel a certain way. Ask yourself how you could dislike him for his decision and you wasn't even a Cleveland fan? It doesn't make sense until you factor in all the talking heads claiming he was bad for the game for doing it.

Damn. It's not that. Don't promote that. It was the WAY he left. Shaq left Orlando to LA in 1996 and it was just business. Why? Because Shaq didn't host a big fucking special in primetime TV. Shaq used the system to his advantage, but didn't make a spectacle of it(although he could have).

Nationwide, folks were told to feel a certain way about the Letter. Very few Cleveland fans agree with that narrative. Funny how both Lebron and Gilbert fucked up their reputations up in 2010. National media still trying to create division over that shit.

Shaq leaving and LeBron leaving were painted under different narratives. The league actually wanted Shaq in LA. Bigger market.

LeBron was an unrestricted free agent. Meaning he didn't owe anybody shit. Especially Cleveland. He had every right to leave and actually showed class by donating the proceeds to charity from the decision. Yet still fans from other teams drank the koolaid and started attacking him as if he played for their team. Why did they do that? Don't just say because of how he went about it. That's hog wash. It's because the media drummed up dislike. Like I said before I understand Cleveland being mad. Hell I'm from Ohio but what the fuck the rest of the teams fans mad about? They got no dog in the fight.

As far as the letter I think he learned and got out front with that letter and didn't allow the media to dictate the narrative this time. Yet die hard haters from other teams still found a way to hate. I guess programming is hard to break when done right.

I agree the media is still trying to find a way to drive a wedge between him and the owner as if those two need any help.

Also the biggest gripe from media talking heads when he left Cleveland was what about the team. Fuck the team in my opinion. The team would say fuck him if he blew out both knees or his back. He would be LeBron James of the Philadelphia 76ers. Players don't owe any one loyalty except their families. Especially when they are unrestricted free agents.

I would appreciate it if you kept my Sixers out of it tho Bruh

He was hated because he had the power and everyone was helpless. They could only wait because they were hostages to the situation and people hate athletes having all the power.

Because The Decision was just as stupid as The Letter. It's easy to dislike someone for that dumb shit. Lebron had every right to leave. Gilbert had every right to write the letter. National media took both cases and ran with them

I'm just glad it all worked out. Shit. Lebron might not like Gilbert for his response to the Decision. Gilbert might not like Lebron for the Decision. The bottom line is they both came together for this title.

You're from Ohio and understand. What cats who indulge in bean pies don't realize is that Gilbert is still hated nationally. Lebron isn't. Gilbert can't live down the Letter. It's only something local folks understand.

Another thing. Look how Gilbert fucked the owners with the small market vs big market play when he had a history of spending. I'd guess Gilbert has more enemies up top than Lebron. I hope these two cats just come together and run shit. Lebron can give hometown discounts for cap reasons while Gilbert just :money: :money: :money: :money:

1st, How can you say Gilbert had every right to write the letter?

I mean come on. He was wrong both morally and factually in writing this letter.

2nd, I havent been paying close attention but what do you mean by he cant live it down?

Im not sure he got any backlash for it at all. I mean, what did it cost him?

When I mentioned the letter I was referring to the one LeBron wrote when he came back. I think the owner was on some fuck shit for what he said in his letter. It wasn't like he was trying to put pieces in place for the man to stay. That letter was uncalled for even more than the decision. More so.

I'm glad he came back because we finally got bragging rights in Ohio and I like watching him play but fuck the owner. He needs to just wright that check and play the background.

1. Lebron hosts a special, the Letter can come. My posts going back before the Decision shows how much 'the Man'(Lebron) ran shit up here. It's no coincidence that Lebron's team didn't get the same thing in South Beach.

2. Dumb ass reporters still try to ask questions about 2010. They aren't on the bean pie shit like some folks started in 2010. They just don't like how Gilbert stood up for a 'loser' city. Lebron is backed to being loved, but Gilbert is only appreciated locally.

I have posts dating way before 2010 about Lebron being called 'the Man' and running shit. I was in the same gym as a cat who recruited for security. This was back when cats had to watch Larry Hughes at the clubs...lol.. That's why I know how much Gilbert put into this shit and why he should have been pissed the way shit went down.

How do you figure?

The special had nothing specifically against the Cavs sub-par roster, the fuckboy owner, the pathetic front office... He chose a another team but he didnt shit on anybody on his way out.

The letter, which came from an owner (who bears a MUCH higher responsibility when it comes to public relations), was written to publicly attack a former employee who had every right to leave, but didnt do it the right way.

I mean, you are trying to push a false equivalency here. LeBron didnt host didnt host a special just to humiliate the Cavs. Dan wrote a letter just to humiliate James. James was a younger man who should have known better. Gilbert the OWNER of a freakin NBA franchise and he did know better but decided he wanted his pound of flesh if he was gonna lose an employee.

Seriously, you should just leave the subject alone. The 'fuckboy' owner opened up the floodgates with money. Front office couldn't get anyone to Cleveland at first because it was fucking Cleveland. After Lebron started to own the league, 'fuckboy' owner couldn't get anyone here because Lebron was hellbent on playing the free agency market. This is not my opinion. It's a fact.

It's one reason why some on this board(ask largebills) questioned why other owners fell for Gilbert's bullshit during the lockout. Gilbert always showed he was willing to spend. Lebron fucked it up by not signing a deal. Who the fuck wants to be stuck here without Lebron? Older cats came here to chase a chip, but what young cat would knowing lebron could bounce? Fuck that.

I'm trying to tell you what went on and you still won't take the information in. Just by calling Gilbert a 'fuckboy' shows you aren't dealing with the facts of the situation. Again, I'm on record BEFORE lebron left talking about the fuckery with not signing a deal and how it hurt the chances for a chip. If I knew the shit and was posting on BGOL, how the fuck you think Gilbert felt when he was willing to spend?

When I told cats on this board how Bron was running Brown behind the scenes, I was a hater. Turns out I was right. If I knew that shit just off a cat Lebron used for security, what the fuck you think Gilbert knew? Damn.

You are avoiding the issue.

James is an employee. Gilbert is an owner. They arent on the same level. They just aint.

Listen, we can end this right quick since you got all this info.

Tell me the entire point of The Decision was to shit on Cleveland, the same way The Letter's entire point was to shit on James, and Ill shut the fuck up.

I'm not avoiding anything. Just the fact you called Gilbert a 'fuckboy' shows you don't know what was going on around here. I don't know which sports teams you ride for, but I damn sure wouldn't tell you the business about your sports teams if you had a history going back YEARS before the event we were discussing. I'd defer to you because you have more than a decade posting about the stuff.

This wasn't nor is it a typical owner and employee relationship. Lebron signs like a normal free agent and there isn't a letter. What's so hard to understand about that?

Even though I don't understand your position on this you make one point I cannot disagree with.
You are much closer to the situation than I am. There is an insight I am not afforded .
Additionally, the Heat benefited. I cannot claim objectivity.

Like I said before, you have an insight I just don't have.
That being said, has an owner ever done what Gilbert has towards a player?

Makes sense to me

It's when black people fall for the shit that I really shake my head.
