It's really interesting. A black man in community college is dangerous. He's not doing it for the social media likes, he's not doing it to please his upper middle class parents, he's not doing it to do the synchronized dances while wearing fancy symbols. He could be doing 10,000 different things other than going to school. But there he is. In class. Those schools are so messed up, they honestly can't do anything about the abundance of kids. It's probably because they don't have recruiters.
no he's not. community college is 13th grade. if u can fog a mirror with your breath, you can get in.It's really interesting. A black man in community college is dangerous. That's a scary dude. Young enough to sell dope, but old enough to know better.
And that is the majority. But the allure of community colleges and for profit schools is that they eliminate the bullshit and cater to the bottom line. They market jobs and immediate employability. 4 year spots market some amorphous mix of legacy and privilege. To have a young person realize that difference is incredible. As the bible says, the first shall be last, and the last shall be first.no he's not. community college is 13th grade. if u can fog a mirror with your breath, you can get in.

Drugs... she got turned outPeace,
She needs to get the fuck outta here with this brain dead rationale. She should have at least had the decency to notify her parents, or a trusted friend. That shit was foul.

I want to continue my modeling career
my gut feeling and her pictures - leads me to think that chick is on heroin - I just hope she doesn't become an all out junkiefuck society. she needs to do what makes her happy.
Imagine if every 19 year old was encouraged and allowed to do that stupid shit. Foh..fuck society. she needs to do what makes her happy.
One of many reasons white supremacy and racial bias continue to reign supreme is that there are never a shortage of dumbass assimilating gooks such as yourself standing in line for the chance to suck on the white mans dick and play devils advocate for a seat at the table..here's the key thing. she's a double dipper for diversity purposes (black and female). she took that Columbia University spot that non-diversity people (with less resources) fight for.
nah its happened before and will again - the moms sent her girl to school - she couldn't protect the girl from feeling like a fish out of water in NYC or stop a young kid from experimenting and developing an addiction to HImagine if every 19 year old was encouraged and allowed to do that stupid shit. Foh..
Her and her mom need they ass beat..
Not if that passion entails quitting school to become an unemployed "model". She showed she is utterly incapable and too immature to make such a life altering decision by the way she handled making said decision in the first place.. You need to cut the idealistic bullshit. Ive seen far too much of it from you lately.. And imo, you're smarter than that.if every black teen was encouraged to find & follow their passions, we'd be in a much better place.
Because my gig pays more and needs black representation just as much if not more... Not sure how thats applicable here tho.for all that shit yall talking, y didn't u bust ur ass and become an engineer?
Moms response was shit. Irresponsibility should not be coddled and encouraged.. Not with stakes as high as these.nah its happened before and will again - the moms sent her girl to school - she couldn't protect the girl from feeling like a fish out of water in NYC or stop a young kid from experimenting and developing an addiction to H
WTF is moms going to say to an addict that chooses to stay in NYC?... ain't nothing to be said to the girl until she hits bottom....Not if that passion entails quitting school to become an unemployed "model".
Moms response was shit. Irresponsibility should not be coddled and encouraged.. Not with stakes as high as these.
More than "no explanation needed.. i understand... if you a stripper you gonna be the best stripper ever..".WTF is moms going to say to an addict that chooses to stay in NYC?...
that lady was scared to death her kid was dead - but when she found her she might have wished the girl died and was embarrassed as hellMore than "no explanation needed.. i understand... if you a stripper you gonna be the best stripper ever..".
If you cant muster anything more compelling than that then kill yourself.
Well if thats the best support, advice, and admonishment you gonna give your child under those circumstances, then maybe they both would be better off dead.that was lady was scared to death her kid was dead - but when she found her she might have wished the girl died and was embarrassed as hell
She didnt quit school. She disengaged from life. BIG difference. Maybe you missed the part where emptied accounts, withdraw, changed numbers, ignored family friends and didnt call her mom on mothers day and there after... And Malcolm X circumstance, environment, opportunity and options largely dictated his decisions and predicament at that stage in life... Stop forcing stupid analogies bro.she's a kid. she quit school. big fucking deal. when malcolm x was her age he was getting indicted for breaking in white ppls homes.
Id rather she drop out too.. But blowing her brains isnt the only option. And my point is you cant trust her to "do what she wants" if she already displays a total inability to make reasonable and rationale adult decisions... Ive actually been to college, grad and professional schoool.. and muthafuckas drop out everyday... rarely do they handle it as poorly as this fool. Thats my point (one of them atleast)..i'd rather her dropout than blowing her brains out. shit gets rough but life goes on. hopefully she figures that out. if her parents put any sense in her, she'll find her way. she's not the first or last college kid to drop out on some dumb shit.
Yea nigga.. my gig pays more.. and black representation is as if not more fucking important.. Dont inject my fucking profession and challenge me in any way and then act offended when i respond. And her mom being supportive and educated isnt fucking pressure. Certainly not to the point of cuasing the reaction she had... If she thinks so she needs some fucking perspective and a kick in the ass along with a course on real pressure situations for a teenage child..your gig pays more. ok. i wont even venture into a bgol pissing contest. i'm sure you make millions. the point i was making is that it's easy to armchair quarterback this. you have no idea what the chick may be going through. her mom got her masters from hopkins and doctorate from mit. that alone is enough pressure to cause a kid to crack.
"Love and figuring the rest out later" are NEVER the response to depression and drugs.. Again, more idealistic bullshit.. Hugging her, telling her to be the best stripper possible and accepting this shit is awful parenting. And advising 19 year old kids to quit school and do whatever "they want" is equally atrocious advice....and when she canceled her social media and went off the grid for weeks, i'm sure her mom was at the point where she's wondering if she'll ever see her daughter again. shit gotta be terrifying. whatever the kid is going through (depression, drugs...) is some real shit. you counter that with love & figure the rest out later.
go forbid - and heaven help you if one of your kids becomes an addict.... I've seen more than one parent completely broken when they are smacked in the face with surprise /horror of a kid thats a junkie...Well if thats the best support, advice, and admonishment you gonna give your child under those circumstances, then maybe they both would be better off dead.
Never said it was easy.. But watching in agreement as your kid throws her future away is never a good option or adequate means of addressing this kinda shit.go forbid - and heaven help you if one of your kids becomes an addict.... I've seen more than one parent completely broken when they are smacked in the face with surprise /horror of a kid thats a junkie...
they are both in for a long journey....
there is no addressing a junkie -Never said it was easy.. But watching in agreement as your kid throws her future away is never a good option or adequate means of addressing this kinda shit.
What didnt make sense is her handling of the withdrawal from school and her moms response to the entire ordeal..yes she disengaged. it's a sign that something very wrong is going on.. which means "her and her mom need their ass beat" makes no sense as a response.
the point about malcolm x is really simple. you understood it. the dumb shit you do as a teenager does not have to determine your future.
u call her a fool. i'm calling her a chick w/ some serious mental and emotional challenges. whatever works for u... she's going through some real shit, whatever it is...
ur gig pays more than what? she's 19 yrs old and didn't even have a career yet. ur sounding like a new lawyer, super happy that ur gonna go make some bread. when u get in the endzone, act like u been there before man... lol "my gig pays more". ur in ur 60's comparing yourself to a teenager.
im not going to fault a mother trying to comfort a daughter that she probably thought was gone forever. it definitely wasn't the shit i would say to her but again, i think she was trying to show love and awkwardly tell her kid that she accepts her, regardless of what she is choosing to do. probably feels guilty for pushing the girl so hard to follow in her footsteps.
anyway, hope the girl gets her life together and finds what makes her happy.
Well moms didnt do that either... But you're making assumptions. Nothing i read or saw says "junkie". She absolutely may be headed that way tho... Moms response and advice sure as fuck wont help.there is no addressing a junkie -
you cut em off $$ and try to get them in a 12 step program and rehab... but that only help when the addict is ready
Indeed. These liberal ivy league institutions are not in the business of flunking kids out. Help is there if you want it. She admits the academics wernt as big an issue as her interest was... Well quess what? Change your fucking major, minor or pick up a major in something that does interest you.. The options on that campus are limitless... as is the networking opportunities..This is madness... She was a "star student" in Ojai at Thatcher, but found herself as just a number at Columbia.... That's what happens the first 2 years... It's called the "weed out" period for a reason. It sucks finally since most of those classes don't mean shit in the grand scheme of things, but they want to weed out the nobody's vs the really dedicated, hard working or in a lot of cases brainwashed.... She couldn't cut it, but instead of just telling her mom she tried to drop off the grid... Man GTFOH, Columbia is no where near the size of OSU, she had resources and options... Either she didn't know or didn't want to. Hopefully it's not drugs..and this whole modeling shit is ridiculous.
She could have just transferred to this? http://arts.columbia.edu/sound-artsIndeed. These liberal ivy league institutions are not in the business of flunking kids out. Help is there if you want it. She thinks she had pressure before... wait until that struggling artist shtick goes from cute to fucking loser once she hits 28 or so and shes washed up as far as the modeling industry is concerned. She'll be begging Colombia to let her back in.... or scheming to kill her dumbass moms in order to cash in on the life insurance policy.
yes she disengaged. it's a sign that something very wrong is going on.. which means "her and her mom need their ass beat" makes no sense as a response.
