Aries Spears on Key & Peele Not Being Chosen by the Black Community

Aries Spears comes off as a hater at times. Why is he shitting on other black men in public anyway?
Especially to that Vlad dude.

Shitting on successful black men at that. They are comedians, they aren't that faggot, cocksucking, dickface, shit eating Sheriff Clarke that goes on Fox news and trashing black people so he can get a pat on the head from some cacs.

Lol I hear you bro....

That mo money skit is authentic as fuck... with comedic embellishment of course.

The key and peele joint was cool, it sounds like they are trying to sound like xyz, which to me comes across as either terrible acting lol or pandering to the "white" perspective of how brothers sound.
i don't see a difference.. you could make that same description for the wayans considering they were VERY popular with cacs

I'm not saying they weren't popular with cacs, I'm just saying that one seems more authentic with verbal and body language as far as these skits are concerned.

Using the two videos you shared, the mo money skit was very real as far as what I have seen and experienced in "urban" lol communities.

Not EVERY single individual of course.
NYC, Cali, DC, Chicago, ATL and more all have very distinct ways they communicate and Key and Peele have not translated who they are exactly emulating. This is why they're skit remind me of how cacs try to act like us. Nothing authentic or culturally reminiscent of a particular area, group, or region.

They just sound like " yo, I be like hey what it do son whoday play boi doggy son... nigga"

Respect to them and their grind. No hate.

By that logic stop using U.S. currency because in essence that is white supremacy!!!
No.

I will use it because there is no other form of exchange within the economic system. There is nothing that i can compensate it with while living in Amerikkka. But this ... Of course, yes!

I am not talking about their currency I am talking about the economic system as a whole... This system is at the heart of white supremacy, and if you are to take them down another system would have to be replaced in order to keep the world as it is... This is what gives them power, due to their enemies being afraid to live with out this system...

I have to say, he's 100% on point. I don't know any black people who watch their show. I was notified of them when they appeared on Fargo through white people.

From Eddie to Chris Tucker to Dave to Kevin Hart

has a black comedian ever come from them?

There are plenty of blacks who watch them, your core sample is just way too small...

I don't know where the hate is from but K&P are funny as hell.

here's the issue with this assessment that bugs me. Its arbitrary. Its an exaggeration of how young black males are perceived to act like. A caricature is a caricature what does authenticity have to do with it?

And then there's the faux supportive statements: Respect to them and their grind. No hate. Aries and Russell makes similar statements then turns around and literally calls them fake black men and that their success is due to white support not black (as if they speak for all blacks) which is not a good thing culturally speaking and that's contradictory to the "respect" they supposedly give and that translates to hate. That's why people can say about Aries assessment thats its hate because they can sniff out the contradiction in it.

A black man saying another black man is fake in his blackness is the epitome of disrespect.

I hear you. I said respect to them and their grind because I have no reason not appreciate them for their talent and success as brothers in general. If I felt a real way about them in regards to not being real black men, I would express that with no hesitation.

There are all types of black people who differ in culture, so I don't expect them or anyone to be the same.

I'm saying that the American black characters Key and Peele play on their show, are not authentic to what I see in American black culture. It's very watered down and it reminds me of how cacs impersonate us. Key and Peele have the right to speak and look and whatever else they want to do and be. I'm saying, their acting when it comes to a particular characterisation of a black person, it's terrible.

Again, respect to their grind and ability to be successful in what they do and what they like to do... no HATE.

I've never seen any of their shit. I need to hit youtube to see what the noise is all about.
The funniest skit I've seen is an episode where dude was laughing hard as shit, but no sound was coming out of his mouth. Mouth closed laughing, jumping around n shit lol. His friends were like... wtf. I would link it here if I knew how to.

I dislike the term "Real Niggas" but I feel what he said. Key and Peele,Hannibal Buress and others have a silly humor whose target audience is White People.

Key & Peele is an American sketch comedy television series created by Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele for Comedy Central. Both Key and Peele previously worked on MADtv.[4]

Each episode of the show consists mainly of several pre-taped sketches starring the two actors. The sketches cover a variety of societal topics, often with a focus on American popular culture, ethnic stereotypes, and race relations.[5] Key & Peele premiered on January 31, 2012[6] and ended on September 9, 2015, with a total of 53 episodes, over the course of five seasons. A special entitled "Key & Peele's Super Bowl Special" aired on January 30, 2015.

Key & Peele won a Peabody Award[7] and has been nominated for various other awards, including Writers Guild Award,[8] NAACP Image Award and several Primetime Emmy Awards.

It's because their comedy isn't for us, it's for white people.

comedy isn't geared towards race, it's geared towards experiences. not all black people have the same experiences. no racial group does. your comment would've made more sense had you said 'it's for broke people' or 'it's for older people' or 'it's for rich people'.

you're gonna deny yourself a lot of different experiences in life because you'll limit yourself by saying 'oh, that's for white people. can't try it/do it/experience it' and 'oh, that's for Asian people' or 'oh, that's for Mexican people', etc.

Never saw nothing from them, ever but Arie seems to come off more like a hater and a has been. Angry or mad he didn't get no burn or shine. If they eating off corn balling so what? Kevin Hart ain't funny really but I like his movies. Arie needs to get in his grind

You're reaching and drawing too many conclusions from my comment. My comment is speaking specifically on their type of comedy, not about any other aspect of life.

Some of their skits are funny. Let's just say white people will generally laugh more at their comedy than Black people, and that's for a reason.

I'm not saying they specifically make comedy for white people, I'm just saying they're type of comedy is funnier to white people.

Arie has always been a hater because he never like, made it as far as he could have, or would have like too, it seems. He is talented with the voices and can be funny but he sounds burnt on their success.

I like some of these guys stuff and I agree with the brother that I don't think they cater toward white or black its experience. Some of their comedy is funny as hell universally, some is more 'blackish' and some is more 'whitish', partially because I haven't had some of the experiences.

That substitute joint is hilarious, the Luther Barack joint? crazy. That biitttttttttch skit?

Im not sure why brothers don't like these cats but I think their brand of funny is not for everybody but its rather important.

Its also telling that we are pushing the stereotype that Brothers have to be like this way or that way to be 'real' or 'down', definitely a limited way to see it.

I got a couple of brothers I grew up with that will still murder you and they 40 and change, but I went to school with some cats who are smarter then me 10x over. I look at them both equally as 'real' or 'down' they just different.

Peace

Like most things that happened in entertainment post-1999, I am late to the party. I just watched a couple of their skits, and these motherfuckers got me crying.

I watched the slave auction skit and Neil Degrasse.

Good luck to those who are entering for the complete series dvd set contest a few replies up.
