SEARCH UNDERWAY FOR MISSING COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY STUDENT NAYLA KIDD

The search is on for a Columbia University student who disappeared more than a week ago.

The school's department of public safety said 19-year-old Nayla Kidd has not been in contact with her family or friends for several days.

They reported her missing Wednesday, and the last time anyone saw her was Thursday May, 5 at about 5 p.m.

Kidd lives off-campus. Here's her physical description, as released by the school:
- Age: 19 years old
- Height: 5-feet, 9 inches
- Weight: 120 pounds
- Eyes: Brown

Police said "there is a coordinated effort to locate this student."

Anyone with information about Kidd is asked to contact Columbia Public Safety at 212-854-5555 or the NYPD 26th Precinct Detective Squad at 212-678-1351.

She's 19. They don't list her classification, but I doubt she's close to graduating. I hope they find her unharmed though.

They are usually older than 19 though......she's 19 and in Columbia.....I don't think that's the case here. Usually it be the 20 year olds who are about to graduate and don't know how to tell their family they not graduating yet. This situation seems different. But I hope she's found safe. I hate these stories.

Your probably right about this. They are starting to place more counseling sessions psychologically in uni. Students stressing themselves out with full loads who don't always do well handling the course work.

Iused to work by Columbia. A lot of those students if they got bad grades would get depressed and kill themsleves. I pray that is not the case with this young lady.

I work at a hospital right? So this week, I had a patient who had a bariatric surgery. She just had a kid and wanted to get back in shape. She was only 157 lbs.

There are many people who believe they should be a certain way. I couldn't imagine the pressure a black person at an Ivy League faces.

Report: Missing Ivy League Sophomore Nayla Kidd Changed Bank Account and Cellphone Numbers Before She Disappeared​

According to media reports, police believe the 19-year-old Columbia University student also deleted her Facebook page before she went missing May 5.

Nayla Kidd, the 19-year-old Columbia University sophomore who has been missing since leaving a May 5 dorm party, is now believed to have taken her Facebook page down and changed her cellphone and bank account numbers before her disappearance, police sources told the New York Daily News.


“This is not Nayla,” her mother, La Creis Kidd, told CBS New York Friday as she handed out fliers with other family members near the Ivy League school.


Nayla Kidd was last seen leaving Columbia’s campus in Manhattan’s Morningside Heights neighborhood. She missed finals, which began later the day she went missing, something her mother said she would never do.


“She prides herself on doing her very best in school,” her mother, a professor at the University of Louisville, told the news station. “For her to be missing right now is very heart-wrenching.”


Nayla Kidd, a sophomore in the School of Engineering and Applied Science, taught a popular belly dancing class at the school and was attending Columbia on a full scholarship.
