Marvel Just Screened Captain America: Civil War, and the Initial Reviews Are Great

Just back from seeing it. Good movie. Black Panther was the shit. Spidey was good. Ant Man....meh but not bad. Great action scenes. Love the upgraded Falcon. Black Widow kicked some major ass. It's worth paying to go see.

First off...

The CA trilogy on its worst day is still better than DN on its worst day. I'd watch the 1st CA over DNR...piecemeal bullshit that was.

But something bothering me and sorry if it's been said before...

...who funded Zemo? I mean...even if he knew how to build the bomb, where did he get the mask to look like Bucky? How did he get to the psychiatrist? Dude was making moves that an officer without a government shouldn't be making. We had a cameo of a Ten Rings tattoo in Ant Man...was this the Ten Rings? Hydra? I know yall not gonna over look this...

Movie was great. I love a good story with action. That is all.

to me he had so much KNOWLEDGE of Hydra and their tech?

He had ties to them which automatically means resources and money...

and the Russo brothers love the long game so all will be revealed....

Remember Sokovia was a Hydra stronghold...so that whole damn COUNTRY could have been funded by Hydra money since WW II

man DC is gonna be crying in the car:

'Captain America: Civil War' Opens with $181.8 Million; Global Cume Climbs Over $675M
by Brad Brevet

May 8, 2016

Captain America: Civil War scorched the weekend box office, bringing in the fifth largest opening weekend of all-time. The massive debut contributed to Disney bringing in over $200 million this weekend as the studio became the fastest to cross the $1 billion mark in domestic earnings in just 128 days, decimating the 165 day record set by Universal just last year. And while Disney was setting records, the weekend also saw a stellar comeback for Open Road's Mother's Day as it took advantage of its holiday namesake.

With an estimated $181.79 million opening weekend, Civil War not only scored the fifth largest opening of all-time, it is the third largest opening for a film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). In fact, compared to the other standalone franchises in the MCU, the Captain America franchise continues to show the greatest film-over-film growth as Civil War's opening is a 91.3% increase over the opening for Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Also note, Disney under-estimated the opening weekend for Avengers: Age of Ultron last year by $3.6 million and some rival studios suggest Civil War may have brought in as much as $186 million this weekend.

Of course, heading into the weekend, expectations were undoubtedly high as Civil War looked as if it may be able to become only the fourth film to top $200 million in its first three days. The film's reported, $250 million budget is on par with the budget for Avengers: Age of Ultron and, given the film's sheer size and scope, Civil War plays much more like an Avengers film than your typical Marvel, standalone character feature. Added to that, Civil Warsaw great reviews heading into the weekend (91% on RottenTomatoes), record Fandango pre-sales for a superhero film, more premium ticket options and 3-D theaters than Ultron and the premiere of two new superheroes. Yet, don't for a second think of the film's opening as a disappointment.

Civil War scored an "A" CinemaScore, and solid holds over its first three days in release suggest a stellar domestic run is in the offing. Should it play out on par with the likes of The Winter Soldier it will likely pass $300 million domestically by next Sunday (if not sooner) and could surpass $450 million overall depending on how it holds on once X-Men: Apocalypse hits theaters on May 20.

Globally the film's total is now up to $678 million after launching internationally last weekend and bringing in an estimated $220 million from overseas markets this weekend. In fact, with $496.6 million internationally after just two weeks, it has already surpassed the lifetime international cumes of Captain America ($194M), Iron Man($267M), Thor ($268M), Iron Man 2 ($312M), Ant-Man ($339M), Thor: The Dark World ($438M), Guardians of the Galaxy ($440M) and Captain America: The Winter Soldier ($455M).

Also remember we STILL don't know everything about the organization behind the Mandarin....

And the effect of all that info Black Widow had released on the Internet in Winter Soldier...which helped Zemo find that SPECIFIC DATE.

The solo black widow film will definitely have to address that.

Just sharing for those interested decent convo about the movie

The Geekscape 'Captain America: Civil War' Special!

http://www.cosmicbooknews.com/conte...der-man-homecoming-avengers-infinity-war-more

A batch of rumors regarding the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe have hit the net, which includes Spider-Man: Homecoming, Avengers: Infinity War, Thor: Ragnaork, Doctor Strange, Captain Marvel, Black Panther and more.

I took a quick glace, and some of them are news already known or speculated about, but it's still fun to check out.

I think these come from 4chan (via reddit):

Mads Mikkelsen is playing Dr. Anthony Druid in DOCTOR STRANGE. He’s the main villain. Amy Landecker and Scott Adkins are playing his followers. Michael Stuhlbarg is playing a LHC scientist who assists Doctor Druid. Dormammu is referenced.

Kurt Russell is playing Stakar in GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2. He’s Star-Lord’s father and the main villain. Secondary villains include Tullk and Taserface. Ego, the Living Planet, will appear, and they’re scouting high-profile actors to voice him.

Sylvester Stallone, Sharon Stone and Christopher Lloyd have minor roles in GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2.

The main villains of SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING are Norman Osborn and the Vulture, with appearances by Spencer Smythe and Miles Warren.

Michael Keaton was approached to play Osborn, but declined because he didn’t want to commit to a multi-picture contract. Other actors are now being approached, including Jason Clarke and Dougray Scott.

Mark Rylance has been approached about playing the Vulture and Gary Oldman is in negotiations to play Smythe. Andrew McCarthy is in early talks to play Warren.

Peter won’t have a prominent love interest in the first movie, although he will have a crush on Liz Allan, who is being played by Laura Harrier. Flash Thompson will also appear, with Blake Jenner in talks to play him. Daniel Zovatto and Charlie Rowe are in talks to play Harry Osborn.

THOR: RAGNAROK will feature Cate Blanchett as Hela and Surtur will be unleashed in the third actor. Josh Brolin will have an appearance as Thanos that leads directly into AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR.

Tessa Thompson is indeed playing Broomhilde, the warrior valkyrie. She is Thor’s new romantic interest. It will be established Thor and Jane Foster’s relationship ended on amicable terms due to his responsabilities as the guardian of the Nine Realms preventing them from committing to a life together.

Villains of BLACK PANTHER are High Priest Achebe, Ulysses Klaue and M'Baku. Andy Serkis will reprise his role as Klaw. Martin Freeman is also reprising his role as Everett Ross.

Black Panther’s love interest will be Monica Lynne, reinvented as a political envoy employed by Ross. Other supporting characters are Shuri, T'Challa’s sister; N'Gassi, the royal advisor; Okoye, the leader of the Dora Milaje; Adenbi, Achebe’s loyal follower; and Jack Truman, Lynne’s handler.

Casting is still in early stages, but Marvel has already named Michael Jai White as one of the frontrunners for M'Baku, and had meetings with Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Nicole Beharie, Yaya DaCosta and Sharol Leal for the lead female roles, either Lynne or Shuri or both.

Carol Danvers will appear in AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR before CAPTAIN MARVEL, and Emily Blunt is lined up to play her. Emily Carmichel in talks to direct.

AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR - PART 1 will be renamed. First draft has recently been delivered. Apparently set on Earth and centered on the assembly of the Infinity Gauntlet.

CAPTAIN MARVEL will feature the Kree as villains. Not much is set.

ANT-MAN & THE WASP will feature the return of Janet Van Dyne and Scott Lang and Hope Van Dyne fighting an old enemy of Hank Pym’s past familiar with the Quantum Realm, but his identity hasn’t yet been determined.

AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR - PART 2 will be set in Space and feature the final battle against Thanos.

INHUMANS will most likely be scrapped.

Chris Evans is expected to renew his contract for more CAPTAIN AMERICA movies in Phase 4. Robert Downey Jr., however, is not. although there’s renewed interest in IRON MAN 4 lately.

Sequels for GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY, DOCTOR STRANGE, BLACK PANTHER and SPIDER-MAN already in discussions. They’re being optimistic, but more reserved with CAPTAIN MARVEL.

SECRET INVASION and SIEGE are popular storylines that are being considered as overarching storylines of Phase 4 and beyond.

There is a plan for the potential return of the Fantastic Four to the MCU. However, there are no contigencies for the X-Men, which are unlikely to ever return. There is interest in Namor, too.

There is interest in the Sentry, Spider-Woman, Hercules, Photon, Nova. the Young Avengers and the Thunderbolts for Phase 4 and beyond.

Blade, Moon Knight and Ghost Rider are being lined-up for Netflix shows.

BLACK WIDOW is actually of interest, but likely won’t happen in phase 3. Likewise, there’s been debate about a standalone WINTER SOLDIER movie.

There’s a running gag about producing a Supreme Squadron movie, but chances of it actually happening are virtually zero.

Smart move, if true

In regard to spiderman, glad they went with Vulture, not thrilled about seeing another version of Osborn

I believe in this scene Falcon said, "Ohh, it's just that simple... We gonna be friends now."

I took that as a subliminal jab on Batman v Superman. The whole our mothers have the same last name we are friends scene. I don't know if that's possible to make a change so quick.

Reshoots typically occur a few months before the film is released

Norman Osborn is a linchpin in Spidey's mythos, they have to eventually establish his presence, although not necessarily as the Green Goblin.

I love the inclusion of Allister Smythe and the Jackal! Spider-Slayers will be dope to see, and I wonder if we'll get a better version of the maximum cloneage arc? If you keep Peter Parker as the original Spider-man and keep Ben Riley as the clone Scarlett Spider that would be dope.

Black Widow, Scarlet Witch, and Agent 13 are all super badass in Captain America: Civil War. But the most badass woman of all in the new Marvel movie is the one who didn’t dole out a single kick or punch.

The full badassery of this character will hopefully be on display in a future MCU movie, but we know from comic book history that this woman has some serious fighting skills.

I’m talking about the Dora Milaje.

The Dora Milaje are the Wakandan women who serve as Black Panther’s bodyguards, and we got a brief glimpse at one in Civil War.

This woman with some undeniable swagger struts out with T’Challa to the Wakandan king’s car, where Black Widow is waiting for them, standing in front of the car door. “Move or you will be moved,” this woman says to Black Widow. Oh, man would that have been a fun showdown to watch. T’Challa clearly thinks so too: “As entertaining as that would be…” he says.

Now, there are a few possibilities for who this could be — Shuri, T’Challa’s sister (who has her own tenure as Black Panther in the comics) is one — but this woman certainly looks like she’d fit into the Dora Milaje. They’re recognizable for their often shaved heads and gold earrings. Sometimes they wear high heels and slinky dresses like the woman in this scene does, and sometimes they wear traditional Wakandan garb. The actress who shares this brief scene with Scarlett Johansson and Chadwick Boseman is Uganda-born actress Florence Kasumba, credited as “Security Chief.”

Ryan Coogler’s Black Panther film is set for a February 2018 release. We can hope to see more of the Dora Milaje in that movie — I’d bet even the Dora Milaje in action.

But until then, here are some things to know about the Dora Milaje a.k.a. the Adored Ones:

The Dora Milaje first appeared in the Black Panther comics in 1998, about three decades after Black Panther’s first comic book appearance, in a 1966 issue of Fantastic Four.

They come from all over Wakanda, an all-female guard established to create harmony among rival tribes. Though the (fictional) country Wakanda, located in equatorial Africa, has a tribal government, it is one of the most technologically advanced nations in the world, in part because of its use of its valuable natural resource, Vibranium.

The Dora Milaje use a combination of various martial arts, plus fighting styles native to Wakanda, making them formidable foes to even well-trained soldiers and ninja.

They are trained to use swords, spears, and nunchaku.

Historically, the Dora Milaje are potential queens and wives-in-training for an unmarried king.

Among the prominent Dora Milaje are Nakia and Okoye. Despite the tradition of Dora Milaje as wives-in-training, T’Challa viewed these two teenaged bodyguards as daughters. But Nakia developed romantic feelings for her king.

Another of the Dora Milaje, Chanté Giovanni Brown, was born in Wakanda but raised in Chicago after her parents’ death. As a teen, she became an activist of sorts in the Windy City, calling herself Queen Divine Justice until Black Panther came to Chicago and informed her of her true heritage, daughter of the chieftain of the Jabari tribe.

Also noteworthy: Aneka, the combat instructor for the Dora Milaje. She trained them in techniques that could combat robots in anticipation of Doomwar.

In the Civil War storyline in the comics, Black Panther is anti-registration, at odds with pro-registration Tony Stark. In the midst of all this controversy about the Superhero Registration Act, while T’Challa’s at the White House, a riot breaks out, and this incident leads the Dora Milaje to battle War Machine and his Sentinels.

After a costly fight with Doctor Doom when he attempted to invade Wakanda, T’Challa assembled a special team of select Dora Milaje to fight him called the Midnight Angels. They were specially trained to fight Doom’s robots and magic.

Thinking back, there was one thing I didn't like, maybe someone can explain it if I missed it. Ant Man and Hawkeye easily joined up with Caps team. Bucky, Falcon, Scarlett all had their reasons, but Ant Man and Hawkeye just did it with no explanation.

Ant Man turning into Giant Man was the shit.

Falcon recruited Ant Man, remember the scene where they had buckys arm trapped that was also a post credit scene in Ant man when Falcon said "I know a guy".

And Hawkeye said he just wanted to help his friends, Cap and Scarlett Witch

Hawkeye was there for scarlet witch.......he feels guilty about quick silver.

Antman is there out admiration for cap. If you've seen antman movie they had set this up already. Plus in general he's kinda anti authority m.

Ok, but why would Ant just side with them?
And I would think that Hawk is closer to Widow, seeing that she is his kids good mother.

Ahhhh, that explains Ant Man, I'll buy that.

At the end
Starks talked about partial paralysis
then in the end you had rhodes doing rehab learning to walk with the cyborg legs
Ahhhhhh, I just read up on that. I wasn't too familiar with it. Good catch.

The comic book nerds are putting out some good reviews.

I folded on Deadpool and Batman vs SM. I never went to go see them. Havent seen them online either. Quickly lost interest after I read reviews, saw clips etc etc.

Im still trying to go see something at the theater, for the first time in over two years, before I go see X men in a few weeks. I think this may be my moment!!!! :hmm:

Nigga, shut up. :hmm:

I saw that but he isn't a Terminator like they made him in the comics. He had walking apparatus and the fact that he has Starks help worse case senario he walks with a cane or something. Not a cyborg or half machine at all.

warmachine becomes more machine over time, so I expect it might happen over several movies,
but the fact that starks was talking about adding shock absorbers to the legs leads me to believe that it was permanent.
If Starks had the ability to cure paralysis, he would not have been so upset over the situation in the first place.

It's not gonna happen. Even in the comics they transferred his consciousness into a clone body. Not only is that a dumb idea for both the comics and movies but they don't want to confuse the audience with that other cyborg negro in a movie that shall not be named. All things are possible with the infinity gems. He'd become Iron Patriot or take over as Iron Man for Tony before that.

Ant-Man also sided with cap because his mentor Hank Pym firmly expressed his disdain for Howard Stark and Tony Stark. In the ant man film he down played the iron man tech by saying "This isnt some cute technology like the iron man suit." and he said "I will never leave my tech in the hands of a stark" So also ant man joined cap out of loyalty to his mentor and a cap fanboy. In the prison scene when stark checked in on everybody Ant man even said "Hank Pym was right, Never trust a stark"

Just got back from watching it. The opening scene, the chase when we finally see Black Panther in action, the airport fight...amazing fucking settings and no Bruckheimer horseshit destruction.

I dont think it was touched on
but the one thing I loved was them actually making war machine, half man /half robot
just ike the books

well that is a new development. when i collected war machine back in the day he was fully human.
