We should not always be too critical because not every black man is built the same. I have multiple methods of reaching my students. Some students I'm very critical towards and other students I motivate without criticizing. Sometimes telling or showing them truth will make them become self reflective, thus criticism is not necessary. I have studied and experimented with various methods of reaching my students and effective ways of learning and communication. Some adults are so harden that they tend to cause an individual to shutdown when they are too critical.
Im sure if I was teaching your child or anyone else's, you would want me to be mindful of how critical I would be to your child when educating them and speaking truth. You would want me to take the best approach that would help your child learn, build character, and become self aware. If I was to ignore your child's ignorance and be overly critical about something they do not fully grasp or understand, you'd feel a certain way about me as a parent. Again, assessing the individual is important because there is no one method to teaching the black man.
Did he know better at 5? How about at 3? Where is the line drawn of when a black child should know? Is it 7? Maybe 10? Point being is you can't place an age when we are suppose to be aware of certain racist aspects, (I.e, like letting a white boy call you a nigga). Surely your example does not account for the other several hundreds of students I have seen over the years that don't have a clue. I would not trivialize the impact of age.

Took a mugshot, so more than likely he got finger printed as well. They may tell him that his case has been expunged, sealed, cleared etc, but thats only to a certain degree. Once they got your mugshot and prints, both will stay in the fbi criminal database FOREVER; Guilty or not.
Yeah, you can teach a child about racism, the law etc, but when will they fully comprehend it?
Children, or all colors, aint thinking about "the law". Most of them know that things like murder, stealing etc are wrong, but theres always those little laws that takes time for them understand. The court system exploits children during this learning process all the time. They take extreme actions over minor bs, and they mainly do it for revenue.

We didnt have all this technology in the 90's though.....me and my crew had hoes on video tape. And I mean the big ass camcorder that took a full size VHS tape lol.
