HELP FIND HER: College student reported missing after Uber pool ride

The family of a missing Georgia State University college student is asking for the public's help in finding her.

Photos of 21-year-old Monique Priester were posted on Instagram, and fliers are circulating around the Georgia State campus in hopes of locating her.

Her mother told Channel 2's Nicole Carr that Priester left her stepfather’s home in Dacula around 1:30 p.m. Friday and headed downtown to GSU for a study group.

Hours later, the 21-year-old called an Uber to go back home.

Her last phone call with her mother was around 6:15 p.m. Her mother said Priester told her that she was using the Uber group ride option and was somewhere in the West End waiting for the last person to get on the ride.

Priester’s mother said she sounded normal over the phone Friday, with no hints of strife from a small argument she had with her stepfather on Thursday.

“I’m panicked. I’m hoping that she’s safe,” Priester’s mother, Jacqueline VanLoo-Al Kush, said.

Uber said it would have to be subpoenaed to give up ride records, and police say they have no reason to suspect foul play.
Uber released a statement, saying: “We are working directly with local law enforcement to provide any assistance or information that could help them locate Ms. Priester and get her safely home.”

Family members don’t believe that Priester, who had only a backpack and laptop with her, just left home.

“Don’t be dismissive just because of her age. Look at the entire circumstance,” VanLoo-Al Kush said.

“That doesn’t sound like Mo. That doesn’t make any sense,” longtime friend Darren Howard said.

Students who are used to seeing Priester on campus said they are concerned.

“I’m pretty sure people have tried to call her. She wouldn’t answer anyone,” Queen Gadson said. “I’m sure she would have seen this all over the Internet. I’ve seen it all over the Internet.”

Friends and family said calls to Priester’s phone are going straight to voicemail.

Her mother said she detected bank activity on her daughter's account. She said there was an ATM withdrawal in Nashville that she asked Gwinnett police to look into.

Priester’s mother said her daughter suffers from depression and anxiety. She is asking anyone with information about her disappearance to contact her or authorities.

I hope they find her alive but going to the West End is where she went wrong.

but her ATM card used (pin number required) in Nashville TN?

1.she and her lesiban lover ranned away.
2. note just had argument with step father (men dont like their daughters being gay, just sayin he told her to get rid of that bitch and stop dressing like that).
3. she has history of depression/anxiety

:smh: thinking about what is going to happen to her organs. She probably got into an uber ride with a white devil. Uber is going to be seriously regulated soon or go out of business. And to think I was going to become an Uber driver to by some more bean pie mix.

yeah, they said police wont say why, but she was safe, and the family is now involved.

ill find the link

Based on the limited info given about her being found safe, I'm thinking this is close to what happened

Happy she is home safe...as a parent.

bgol predicted this sh*t exactly once again...

and I prefer that she gets help and deals with this OUT of the spotlight.

But it seems this wasnt Uber's fault but I still think stories like this really HURT Uber as time moves on.

Hell on Earth huh....Will you still call the West End that next year after the new Georgia Dome is done? Have you any idea what rents and sales will be...how many newcomers to the city with serious income will want to be close to where the Falcons and the new Major League Soccer team will play? Just look at how Krog Street/Ponce City Market area has turned around...lofts there are 2500 for a 2 bedroom. If y'all are smart you'll buy into the West End and English Avenue/Vine City while you still can...in 2 years the major renovations and developments pick back up it'll be too late for the little guy investors.

I'm sure it'll pick up, but this same logic could've been used when the dome was built. It didn't change much of anything over there. And if it does pick up, it'll be because that area gets heavily gentrified. Ponce isn't exactly a great comparison either, the surrounding areas are totally different.

Dacula is 40 miles from GSU - why would she be taking an Uber back and forth to home? Her family must have connects, because this story got worldwide traction on ABC/CBS/CNN and went viral. They tried to suggest an Uber abduction when in reality she is a grown woman who had an argument with her stepfather, went away for the weekend and now wants to be left the fuck alone.

Monique Priester, the 21 year old Georgia State University sophomore reported as missing, has been located. Her mother had contacted police after Monique, who’d taken Uber from Atlanta last Friday, never made it back home to Dacula. According to Jacqueline Van Loo-Al Kush, authorities say that her daughter has been located, and “at this time, she wants to stay where she is.” She says she’s not sure why Monique would refuse to come home, “if she needs time away from home for whatever reason, my only concern is that she’s alive.”

Van Loo-Al Kush adding that she is “blessed, thankful, and grateful” that her daughter is safe.

Missing Georgia College Student Found Safe After She Was Reported Missing, Police Say

A 21-year-old Georgia college student has been found safe, police said today, after her mother told police she hadn't heard from her since Friday and reported her missing. Police say this was not a suspicious disappearance and that Georgia State University student Monique Priester left on her own.

Priester had last been seen Friday at a family member's home in Dacula, Georgia, her mother Jacquelin VanLoo-Al Kush told the Gwinnett County Police Department on Saturday. She said Priester left after an argument with a family member.

VanLoo-Al Kush told police she last spoke to her daughter on the phone later Friday -- at about 6:30 p.m. -- and that Priester told her she was taking an Uber with a few other people to the Georgia State University campus in Atlanta. According to police, Priester’s phone was then turned off and remained off ever since.

But Priester has now been found safe, Cpl. Michele Pihera of the Gwinnett County Police Department said this afternoon.

Police say Priester left on her own. Pihera added, "For confidentiality reasons, her location will not be disclosed."

Police said earlier today there was "no evidence to suggest that Monique’s disappearance was against her will." Police also said earlier that they received information to believe Priester’s ATM card was used at a grocery store ATM in Nashville, Tennessee.

VanLoo-Al Kush told ABC affiliate WSB-TV in Atlanta earlier that she was "panicked." "I’m hoping that she’s safe," she said.

Gwinnett County Police said earlier that "the reporting officer placed Monique on the national database as a missing person," and that representatives with Uber had reached out to help.

An Uber spokesperson told ABC News this morning: "We are working directly with local law enforcement to provide any assistance or information that could help them locate Ms. Priester and get her safely home."

yeah, didnt they say the same thing when the ga dome was built too?

its too much poverty over there, you got kids living with grand parnets with paid off homes..
that means as long as grand mo $1000 ss check can keep paying the city taxes, there is no house note to pay.

that poverty is not going anywhere, anytime soon.

there is arledy some whites and gays moving in, but NOT enought.. vine city is a death trap.

Thinking that things will never change today and tomorrow we get mad that others are taking our communities from us. I feel what you're saying. I'm going to invest further in the area...if I lose money then so be it.

Missing Brooklyn mom found safe, was ‘doing her thing’ on Bushwick street corner
http://www.nydailynews.com/new-york...lyn-mom-found-street-corner-article-1.2617984

The young mother of two who went out for Chinese food and disappeared was found unharmed Thursday, police said.

Destiny Dawson, 21, vanished April 21 after leaving her apartment on Park Ave. in the Marcy Houses in Bedford-Stuyvesant.

Her children, ages 2 and 3, were staying that night at their grandmother’s home in Harlem.

Her boyfriend reported her missing amid concerns she had been the victim of foul play.

Detectives, however, found her on a Bushwick street corner Thursday.

She was not the victim of a crime, police said, though it wasn’t clear where she had been.

“She was doing her thing,” a police source said
