Superman prequel Krypton to get green light from Syfy

Syfy is ready to go back to the Man of Steel’s home planet. The cable network is nearing a deal to order the long-gestating Superman prequel Krypton to pilot, EW has learned.

Damian Kindler (Sleepy Hollow) will serve as showrunner and executive producer on the project, and Colm McCarthy (Peaky Blinders) will direct the pilot.


Set two generations before the destruction of the titular planet, Krypton will follow Superman’s grandfather — whose House of El has been ostracized and shamed — as he tries to redeem his family’s name and save his world.

Executive producer David S. Goyer, who wrote Man of Steel and co-wrote Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, has been developingKrypton since 2014. He penned the pilot with Ian Goldberg.

Look at the shows that they came out with in the last two years. They got a new head of programming two years ago and they have worked to rebrand themselves because they finally woke up and noticed that all these genre shows are popping up on other channels. Now they have the magicians, dark matter, kill joys, the expanse and can't forget 12 monkeys. And all of these shows were renewed... I'm telling you. It's a different network. You might not get 6 year seasons but at at least they will give you 3-4.

Have the house of El as descendants of old war hero scientist who saved krypton in the Great War days. Then Jor'El brings news of the planets inevitable doom but the elites of Krypton ruin his rep to keep him silent make him appear crazy even if he does tell the public truth.

They can have kryptonians fight with alien invaders and show the origin of Kryptonite or something that leads into why the planet is dying.

Or maybe they are trying to mine away all the kryptonite to some other planet for profit and reach the center of their planet and cause it to die.

Exactly... It's a world that as comic book fans we know nothing about. Kats aren't even thinking about the fact that in some versions Jor'El knew that Clark would have powers because of Earths son. How would he know that? This show could explain it. So that opens up the possibility of them discovering that under certain conditions their people would have super powers. Which might go to explain part of the conspiracy....
Why fight to prevent your people from knowing the truth of the worlds destruction, because telling them could unleash an entire world of super powered beings unto the universe. Would the universe be worse off because they would basically be Gods. Would they be corrupted by power. Hell they could even bring in Darksied shit if they wanted too... As long as they don't do it like Caprica. I need some conspiracy shit.

My uncle burned me all the Stargates,around 2012 and saw SG-1 and Atlantis,but didn't get to see Universe,because it didn't look good to me.When I had nothing else to do,I started watching Universe, in 2014 and it was good.

They was going to make a third season for it,until it got cancelled,hell they was going to wrap up Atlantis by doing a movie.While in the process of continuing doing more SG-1 movies,but the parent company cancelled it and doing a complete reboot of the original Stargate


They could of made Stargate similar to the Simpsons,because I think they could of went in alot of directions to with for all three franchises.

Dude I respect your imagination but on this one....who cares??

This is the fundamental problem with superman..hes so BLAND and vanilla that even krypton is lame.. I mean theres a reason why we've only seen the brief moments leading up to kryptons destruction. Its the same reason the Terminator movies are only interesting in time we first see Sarah Connor and only see glimpses of the future. In both cases watching how things came to be isn't really the interesting part. Mainly because we KNOW what happens..we know whatever conflicts jor el has with zod and the elder kryptonians doesn't mean anything because the planet blows up. Just like we know that skynet takes over and starts to hunt down mankind in Terminator so any show or movie giving details about it isn't going to be very juicy because no matter what they do they can't stop skynet.

So what will we learn that zod was brilliant person...okay doesn't matter he dies in MOS (thanx zack snyder)
Ursela and Non did this other thing...meh they end up in the negative zone and ultimately defeated by superman anyway.
Kandor and brainiac did something else...kinda cool maybe but its not going to be used in the films and probably not even supergirl or the CW shows so its kinda pointless and standalone.
