I hope Bomani doesn't lose his job!

Dude. Knock it off. Just because I find Bomani grating I have to be white? I agree with dude on a lot of things, but like I said, his delivery leaves a lot to be desired. I'm not into intellectual, sermon barbershop deliveries with his odd accent (to this NYer). Bomani is that dude in your crew who will talk over everyone. I'm good. I prefer more of a straight talker.

To white people nothing is together or tied in unless it benefits them.
Everything is compartmentalized.

So Bomani and this shirt is a completely different issue than the native American issue and we're going to handle that first. They're not going to hear any comparisons or anything until we handle their issue first.

Then we can talk about everything after which will be when they say it's old news let's put all of this behind us and move on its a time for forgiveness

And native Americans nerd to step up or stay

This is the most attention their issue has had in forever and a black person brought it

Get behind him and do what you always do which is piggyback off something we do

If they don't get behind then we can officially wash our hands of anything they pretend to be going through

btw

I would just like to mention

I have heard ZERO Native Americans co sign Bomani...

ZERO

We as black people need to let that settle in...

and comport ourselves accordingly from this day forward if we have not already done so.
Thats a two fold issue.... 1) their willing silence 2) the fact that cac's fucking exterminated them to the point where the numbers just arent there to have that vocal presence

Yea ok... Your "heavy worded" and "over enunciating" accusations raised an eyebrow. Not to mention some questionable shit ive seen you post in the past pertaining to race. Whatever tho.

wow...

I completely disagree.

I think because I have followed him for so many years he is like a friend and I am used to his mannerisms.

I KNOW that voice its the southern that Texas but very educated with a strong East Coast influence

and trust homeboy is NOT fake deep...we can EASILY name those dudes.

He is actually EXTREMELY intelligent excelled academically at a young age and his parents are very pro-black academics

he is very very introspective and self-critical

He can come off as defensive guarded arrogant and over confident on his views but I think that works

he doesn't suffer fools lightly.

because he reminds me a lot of Ralph Wiley but he just isn't as smooth polished and cool.

He isn't full of shit no coon doesn't say things for shock value very thoughtful and is unrepentantly Black on all sides.

And he is has a very sarcastic condensing sense of humor...

and I think its that almost Tupac like (they are nothing alike) balance of cool confident nerd pimp that gives him such a loyal fan base.

To me he is the hip hop intellectual that is truly a product of the culture that I feel represents me.

But ALL that being said I completely understand your viewpoint and wont even attempt to change your mind.

great post, and very well said
I feel the exact same way...I just recently discovered this dude while surfing the radio while driving to go meet a client a couple months ago.
Now I always try and tune in whenever i can, I'm kinda mad it took me so long to discover the brother
And the Jalen and Jacoby show right after is pretty interesting as well.

Bruh, the big players speak the same language as the white men who stole their homes and pushed them to reservations; CASH MONEY. As long as that casino bread is coming in, uninterrupted, you're not likely to hear too much that might rock the money cart.

I had a few deliveries in Pembroke/Lumberton today. Pembroke is 90% Native. Lumbee I believe... Anyway them being my accounts I showed them the video and they loved him calling it what it was. The older ones were more hyped about it. I'll take my first hand experience as them supporting it behind closed doors like us. All the Lumbee I've met were cool and they got some bad ass women!!!

Didn't know my posts made your radar… :dunno:

"Heavy worded" and "over enunciating" isn't just a black or white thing. I double-majored in English and Communication. I work in the media business. I have a sensitivity to how people communicate especially in broadcast. Personally, I don't find Bomani's delivery palatable. I don't find Chris Berman's either. Or Skip Bayless. SAS is awful. I like Ryan Clark's a lot. Jalen Rose is cool. I rock with Michael Wilbon. Michael Smith is likeable. I like Jon Gruden's way. I think Chauncey Billups needs some more work. Michelle Beadle is annoying. I can go on. It's what you say and how you say it that I pay attention to. Like I said, I'm cool with the substance of Bomani most of the time, my issue is his packaging of it.

Cool but what good is behind closed doors really gonna do lol? Just saying that's good and all but we are always front and center taking the punches while people are behind closed doors opening them and walking through when the coast is clear. Right over our wounded bodies

I understand your point. I'm just speaking on this one issue. What Bo did was give cacs the finger. I think it's hilarious, and while it won't change shit. I still give him props for it. That all.

Yes, i have a Tom detector.

I didnt mean to imply that it was. I found them to be inappropriate descriptors. Not racially provocative. But as you took time to further explain your rationale i see your intent better. Though i still disagree. As Bo runs the gamut between fast paced talking, southern drawl, proper articulation, polysyllabic diatribes and ebonics on any given day.

But they are the main ones that should feel they got nothing to lose they were almost wiped out

you aren't wrong and he will be the FIRST to admit it and its funny you say all that because he has talked about that specifically on his podcast and has been trying hard to improve.

I thought self analysis like that would make you actually LIKE him more.

you nailed it..

and although he (and it seems others) think he needs to change I enjoy it. Its almost like he is doing a a damn one man Broadway show.
He isnt montone or super polished.

Listen Mike Tirico, Costas, James Brown etc are perfect...delivery self editing on the fly ad libs extemporaneous improv they got it all but there is something very middle ground corporate and packed about it.

Bo sound like one of your friends who got a shot...if you can find when Bills was doing the NFL late last season it was very much like that especially near the end...it was a really odd mix very unorthodox but it felt like we were all over his house watching the game and he was the SMART one talking shit during the game.

I feel that is a Bomani, Jalen, Bill Simmons, Mike and Jamelle, Stu Scott (RIP), Van Pelt etc sports style

SAS USED to sound like that and it was funny but the screaming mispronouncing words or using big words just for the sake of using them (and the same ones) got cartoonish and offensive. Especially when it becoame painfully obvious he didnt REALLY know what he was talking about.

You and seemingly every Black dude on BGOL. Always on the hunt for Toms and coons. As soon as anyone voices an opinion that seemingly runs counter whomever deems is the appropriate black delegate response is a sellout. Later for all that. I voiced my thoughts on Bomani and that's it. Nothing more. Nothing less. If you think that my posts reflects a man who panders to the white man, you really have no clue. Not throwing shots or shooting flames at you. In my career, quite often I'm the only black guy in the room and the fuckery I have to deal with as a result of that is insane. I'm working on advertising and media. My work is seen by the masses. When the white creative director wants to put tattoos on the neck of Black Santa Claus, I have to tell that muthafucka that he can't do that shit. I can go on, but this is neither the time nor place. But if you care to discuss the state of affairs in the black community and what roles we play individually, I'm more than down. Shit. I have a startup I'm fundraising for and I realize that in my core team, I don't have one white person. I need to find a token. Hell, I've been trying to hire @playahaitian for over a year, but he keeps fronting. Apologies for the rant and the sidebar.

I don't have time to listen to his show. Too much media as it is.

I realized what my issue with Bomani is – Bomani talks AT you and not TO you. That's my problem with him. It's a nuance thing.

Not on a hunt for anything my man. Just observant and mostly honest. But i hear ya. Point remains tho, your assessments were inaccurate. And thats not a matter of opinion. So when you make such a gross misrepresentation of someone from a seemingly whitewashed perspective, then the response it garners isnt unwarranted. Props on hiring black folk tho. I commend that.

What is most offensive about these team logos. The name or the image?

I think it's the name that is the real problem.
