Ravens running back and former Towson University standout Terrance West is suing a South Florida hotel after he says he was robbed twice there during a stay in February.
In a suit filed Wednesday, West claimed that the Metropole South Beach Hotel was negligent in providing access to his suite, in which he was eventually robbed of money, two Rolex watches and designer shoes.
West, who was staying at the hotel with a male friend, is seeking $53,129 in damages. According to the lawsuit, two females, who met the running back earlier in the night, were given a room key to West’s suite escorted by a hotel bellman. While in the room, they allegedly stole the two watches.
West discovered the lost watches when he returned to the room and filed a police report, according to the lawsuit. Nearly an hour later, West opened the door to his suite to what he thought were police officers investigating the theft, the lawsuit says. However, he was then threatened by an assailant who West believed was carrying a gun.
The assailant made away with $5,000 in cash from West and his friend, Christian Louboutin shoes and other items. Fearing for his safety, according to the suit, West complied with the assailant’s demands.
