NFL Free Agency 2016....

After years of Chip Kelly doing dumb shit and blowing up our fucking team, this right up makes me feel REAL GOOD about what Howie is doing and to finally be on the positive end of a fleecing for once!!!

Worst Value
"The Miami Dolphins took on two descending players and dropped out of the draft's top 10 in a trade that will take some time to understand -- if indeed the reasoning ever becomes clear. Playing with the Philadelphia Eagles last season, Byron Maxwell proved that he doesn't like to tackle and that he is nowhere close to a shutdown corner. Linebacker Kiko Alonso, meanwhile, did nothing to dissuade the notion that he is an injury risk. He has now missed 21 games in the past two seasons. How did this trade do anything but leave the Dolphins with two discards and diminished draft position?"

:giggle:

Some observations from Day One:

1. The Broncos are obviously going to get RGIII or Kaepernick.....And be right back in the AFC Championship.

2. Sure the Giants probably overpaid for Vernon but shit at least Jerry Reese is trying, and he is smart enough to also pick up Janoris Jenkins on the back end and big DT from the Jets will make it so he doesn't have to do all the work for himself. I expect the Giants defense to be decent.

3.Brock Oswiler is the best Quarterback the Texans have ever had. That is all.

4. The Jets might end up with whoever the Broncos don't get and still make a playoff push. Kudos to the front office for not overpaying for a backup QB like the Eagles or potentially the Texans have.

I agree with #3

#4 is a bit iffy because the money these QB's were given is middle of the road pay for the position.

Block Osweiler is Matt Schäuble 2.0

If we can get a QB in the draft worth a damn I'll take Osweiler being schaub 2.0

Schaub put up good numbers for a 2-3 year span before his arm turned into a ramen noodle.

Draft a QB (likely Hakenberg) let him sit and develop for a couple years, cut bait on Osweiler and bring in the heir apparent.

Son Schäub turned into Mr. Pick 6 for Houston and Oakland. Didn't y'all down in the H start naming sandwiches after that bum. You don't want that.

Again, read what i said.

Schaub had 2-3 good years. One year he led the league in total passing yards. He wasn't a bum his whole time here....

Jerry Reese...:smh:

Okay, well, it may not be that bad. He's 1 for 2. He'd better sign a good slot receiver and another good LB or DB. I'll tell ya man, this OV signing has got me worried about the draft. I hope he doesn't do some stupid shit.

So you're OK with 2-3 Decent years and going nowhere? Shaub didn't take yall anywhere. NO superbowls .

Lions get WR Marvin Jones from Bengals. I hope he can be serviceable for us cause we need some receivers to replace Megatron.

Okay! I've been watching OV play since college and certainly every games he's played as a Dolphins. Sooo... Yeah! If you think he got that kind skill then..yeah!

I don't think he has that type of skill at all

Just saying he had a good game vs the Cowboys.

That's really it

Olivier Vernon is a good player...but not that good.

Imho......he about to do the Giants like Ndamukong Suh did the Dolphins; Half-assing it while he enjoys living in a popular location.

Also.....the Lions and Stafford about to take a major step back without Megatron. Anyone thinking any of these free agent WR's are gonna give the Lions half of what a healthy Megatron gave them is crazy. Good news for my Bears. One less team to compete with in the division.

Spoken like a true outsider....

back then we had NNNOOOOOOO DEFENSE WHATSOEVER

I don't even know if JJ was here or not yet but we couldn't stop anyone. We could score points all day long but we'd also give up a lot of points.

If Schaub, when he was at his best (2008-2011), had this defense we've had the last few years we'd have made it to a conference championship game at minimum.

They bout to have to give that nigga 60 million guaranteed
A major fuck up by Elway. He shoulda got the deal done ASAP! And tagged the QB if anyone.. Now he gonna have to pay more AND he lost his QB (not to mention the other free agents that bounced). Bad GM'ing...

Peyton somewhere laughing his big water head ass off.

We'll see! If anyone knows anything about football then they know that being offseason champs(Dolphin fans know this) doesn't normally translate into shit! I for one I'm very happy with our FA selection and the 3rd round pick we got for OV.

What team do you rep IIWII? I wanna remember this!

Not being funny here but how was/is CJ speed declining? Ol boy is 25 and as most of us know wasn't a starter in the league until what 2 years ago?

No way! No how! No matter! Should OV and SUH EVER EVER EVER EVER be in the same sentence together when it comes to the football field. I'm not even going to waste the space clearing up their on the field work. Shame on you sir! Ban yourself from any FB threads in the future.

Fam...I have no idea! Ol boy is getting more guaranteed than JJ Watt! I'm lost what kinda player do the Giants think they are getting exactly?

Where are the Giants fans on the board? Speak up!

What, exactly, is so hard to process about Olivier Vernon getting paid all that money?

He got lucky being a free agent in a year where 1) Teams had massive cap space. 2) No market at all for a pass rusher in free agency.

The Cowboys also made calls for Vernon, you don't think if they had any cap space they would've tried to sign him and give him similar money? They have only something like 40 sacks in 2 YEARS.

Did the Giants overpay for OV? Probably, but it's free agency.. you always overpay.

And most of Olivier Vernon's production came AFTER Cameron Wake got injured.

Now that we've addressed major holes in our defense, I'm hoping we go after Laquon Treadwell in the draft to be our #2 receiver.

I'm a Giants fan and I hope to goodness that the new Dline does well or its curtains for Spags.

Of course Vernon's deal is a huge red flag. I believe he was signed because he had a league high hits on QBs although he didn't register the sacks.

Spags 4-3 defense is predicated on blitzes that make QBs uncomfortable in the pocket. Vernon on the edge will likely get doubled but then finally Hankins will rumble through the middle. This opens up JPP and makes it easier on the secondary.

We had the money but we better see results in two years or we'll be in a bad situation.

Must be a Giants fan! Cool and enjoy! Rationalize make it all make sense.

Hilarious OV has damn near NEVER been double teamed while playing FB. Suh got double and sometimes tripled team on almost every play and Wake got double on alot of plays. You know what OV got the majority of times? 1 on 1.

What's further hilarious is JPP with one hand is still a much more impactful player than OV!

Okay if you say so! I guess he's about to dominate that division. Yep! Game plan for OV..
He did have a great game against Tyron, but Tyron had a down year and i guarantee that won't happen again. If the NYG win at least 1 SB then it was worth it, if they don't then they've fucked up their team for the foreseeable future on 2 never been to a pro bowl players:roflmao:

Man Vernon deal was a panick move by Reese.. Spaggs and Reese gonna get that work if those dudes don't pan out of course Reese will be shown the door and rightfully so

So... You read my post and need to ask this question? The currently bum ass Eagles!

I want you to remember this but one thing i will say.... Alonzo is injury prone but he does have skills. If hes healthy he could be a good pick up. Maxwell, unless he restructures he will NOT give you the play to support his contract. He was hidden real well in Seattle so you will need to put people around him, he cannot be you #1.

The gap in talent from 8 to 13 in addition to off loading those bad contracts?! Unless we fuck up that pick yall got roasted on this deal Dude...

Elway was not going to pay 17 million dollar to a quarterback, who has 7 starts in his career...While,it would of been nice to keep Oz,he wasn't worth that much money. On top of that, while Brock showed flashes,he couldn't put points on the board, that's the main reason, why he got benched in the last game in the second half....Let's not forget that Brock had 3 of the 5 turnovers in that game. The Broncos needed that win to get homefield, since the Patriots loss earlier that day to the Dolphins.

No way,the Broncos win the Superbowl,if we had to go to Foxboro in the AFC Championship

Also, the reason, why Elway didn't tagged Brock is because he tagged Von,since they were much closer to making deal than he was with Brock....The Broncos only loss three important players on the team,so far...you make it seemed like the Broncos loss half of the team, when Trevathan,Brock and Malik are the only ones that left,so far....

They resigned Wolfe at the beginning of the playoffs, resigned Brandon Marshall, for a one year deal just a few days ago, and Ware and Clady restructured their contracts.

The people I'm worried about losing is Darian Stewart,Omar Bolden,CJ and David Bruton other than that,I'm not really worried about losing Malik Jackson and Brock

My man, it was a bad move by Elway... no matter how you slice it. Why tag Von when you're gonna have to pay him regardless. You're only delaying the inevitable. And now he will cost even more after the Giants overpaid Vernon. And considering the importance of the position and market that was set by Bradford... tagging Brock would have been the option to take. And Elway WAS gonna pay the 17.. but Houston offered more. And im not sure he will pan out as a player.. but the rate is the rate. And 18 for mediocre QBs is the price this summer.

So,you're gonna let someone like Von test the free agency knowing you're close to a deal, while knowing Brock would of left, because he felt slighted by the coach for pulling him in the last game of the season

Get Von done and stop bullshitting. Knowing that the cap is high and teams have a shitload of money to spend which will cause his price to go up as lesser players are overpaid. Thats where they went wrong there. Why bullshit with him? Suh got $60 last year and everyone knew teams would be overpaying this year. First order of business should have been to pay him. Then either negotiate a best offer take it or leave it deal with Os or tag him.

Now you have neither. Von will cost more than he would have a week ago, and you lost free agents. Elway gets an F so far this offseason.

And again, im not fan of Os, but the price is the price. And overall its about the strategy of tagging Von and leaving Os free to field offers... considering they actually wanted him back and will have to pay Von regardless. It was a stupid move is my point.

This is the same nonsense people said when we let Julius Thomas go last offseason,JT wasn't worth what he was asking for and look what happened to him in Jacksonville....I will guaranteed you that Brock won't be shit in Houston....

Elway knows what he's doing,he's not a dummy
