REMINDER: Black Panthers Documentary Airs TONIGHT on PBS

She an agent Geronimo Pratt broke it down. She was a stripper who was tucking a white FBI agent who recruited her. They gave her a crash course on the subject matter. She gave the white dude credit for teaching her about her blackness.
The sad thing is she run around fronting like a hero. 99 percent of folks don't know this truth. People who were actual Panthers know it and most of the leaders were killed. She now runs around fooling people.

I will post links and the whole story eventually it's a lot of info.
I heard this shit some time back. I also read that she instigated a lot of the inner conflict in the party.

the panthers were so heavily infiltrated youll never really know

Exactly. Some infiltrators still haven't been brought to light. But that's nothing new. It's been done to every single Black unity movement in history. What we need to do is remember it, plan for it and not let it fracture us. Sadly, it's a fact of life that sellouts are our biggest enemies, dating back to ancient Afrika.

preach

hell fred hamptons body guard was a damn agent

fucking fbi cheered his death like they won a football game

whites are some evil mofos...ill never understand how niggas lust after white pussy smh

When people think, talk or write about the civil rights movement of the 60s, rarely do they include the person who by far had the most damaging and lasting effect: j edgar hoover. The evil of that man is beyond description. The history of the Panthers is inextricably linked with him because the fbi was there practically from day one. They approached Huey in college! One of embedded fbi assets jobs was to make the organization more martial. And they did. It was an easy way to declare open season as well as turn public opinion against the Panthers. The whole truth of the Panthers would take two weeks of documentaries. At least.

When people understand who was the 1st black fbi agent and why he was hired

They would re-evaluate the role they currently play in propping up racism and oppression of our people

Got to make sure you are not inadvertently contributing to the problem

Outside of Bobby Seale, anyone who wasn't an agent is either dead, in jail, or living in exile. I have wondered why Bobby isn't in one of those categories though.
Speaking of Bobby Seale I wonder why he wasnt in this doc

he's still alive

She is salty because she wasn't the focus of the documentary.
There is so much venom that gets spewed in the Black community from our people over...well, everything that I don't know if someone is hating because they are jealous of this, that or the other thing or whether they have legitimate gripes.

For example, I didn't used to like Usher because I thought that I could sing so fuck that dude, I should have some shine. I was on some shit, but my ego was on some nonsense my brain wouldn't let me accept was bullshit. But now that I look back on it, I was on some shit. Usher is a talented cat, and my gripe wasn't legitimate.

It's hard to tell anymore with us and what comes from us. All of the Cornell West's and Tavis Smiley's against President Obama is an example of my Usher beef.

I wanted to hear about the killing at UCLA.. I know they had a division LA (which started the bloods and crips..baby cribs).. didn't bunchy Carter get killed by a traitor or something like that.. I wanted to know or hear them speak on what eventually destroyed the BBparty which was the crack epidemic brought to you by you know who...

Not quite sure what you mean here. The fbi had all sorts of black CIs and such before the first black agent.

Documentary is Suspect.....

If you could elaborate please....

I haven't seen yet, but I already know it's going to be suspect because these PBS documentaries are always soft and never give ALL of the information.

Mainly about the infiltration with FBI/CIA
The viciousness of the American gov.
How much money was used into COINTELPRO
How the gov. recruited black people with prior criminal records and blackmailed them

There should be a separate doc. about COINTELPRO and the Panthers mostly focusing on the government

Bunchy Carter and John Huggins were killed by members of Ron Karenga (another snitch for the FBI!!!)'s US (United Slaves) Organization.

Good documentary, demonstrated how conditioned our "black" minds are to serve white agendas. The programming is so thorough that once you deprogram yourself you become too "different" for anyone to ally with you.

When the brotha said "he finally felt free...I making my own rules" when he was shooting at the police ..great insight.

I agree Brother Kaya. They are focusing more on the conflict between the Panthers and the Police / FBI. It was briefly mentioned in the documentary that Brother Huey set up a Sickle Cell Anemia Research program when het got out. I would have loved to hear more about that.

An OG told me last week that the Panthers were the first to do many ground breaking things that the United States government later adopted or emulated. He said that the idea for Pre-K programs came from them.

I'll give you one issue, they don't give you the full context of how the Black Panthers began, it began with the inspiration from Lownes county:

peep it:

The Lowndes County Freedom Organization (LCFO), also known as the Black Panther Party, was started in 1965 under the direction of Student Non-Violent Coordinating Committee (SNCC) activist Stokely Carmichael. In 1965, Lowndes County in Alabama was 80% black but not a single black citizen was registered to vote. Carmichael arrived in the county to organize a voter registration project and from this came the LCFO. Party members adopted the black panther as their symbol for their independent political organization.

More than half of the African American population in Lowndes County lived below the poverty line. Moreover, white supremacists had a long history of extreme violence towards anyone who attempted to vote or otherwise challenge all-white rule. Lowndes County Freedom Organization members didn’t simply want to vote to place other white candidates in office. Instead they wanted to be able to vote for their own candidates.

White voters in Lowndes County reacted strongly to the LCFO. In many instances, whites evicted their sharecroppers, leaving many blacks homeless and unemployed. Whites also refused to serve known LCFO members in stores and restaurants. Small riots broke out with the local police often firing only on blacks during these confrontations. However, the LCFO pushed forward and continued to organize and register voters. In 1966, several LFCO candidates ran for office in the general election but failed to win. While their attempt was unsuccessful, the LCFO continued to fight and their goal and motto of “black power” spread outside of Alabama.

The movement spread all over the nation. Two black Californians, Huey P. Newton and Bobby Seale, asked for permission to use the black panther emblem that the Lowndes County Freedom Organization had adopted, for their newly formed Black Panther Party. The Oakland-based Black Panther Party became a much more prominent organization than the LCFO. Thus few people remember the origins of this powerful symbol with impoverished African Americans in a central Alabama County.

Just got through watching it,it was okay...Maybe,because I was expecting more,I knew they wasn't going to talk about the agent that sold Fred Hampton out,but still I was expecting more.

Anyone can recommend me books about the Black Panthers,I would really appreciate it.

Wow

Those pics brought back memories.

Actually met Kwame Toure when I was younger and eh dropped some knowledge on me.

RIP brother

I watched this bullshit today... cant no one tell me a particular few sold out. You can see it in how they interviewed....

the ones who are still alive sold out..bottomline

come on man... they killed everyone else

i know for a fact they didn't

they targeted the most vocal
and splintered some of the rest.

some just didn't have the numbers and weren't the charismatic leaders thus not the face BUT did their part and remained down to deaf ears

they just split it open and flooded the drugs in the community which ruins any community you put them in

PBS is suspect.

Does anyone know who put up the funding? Couldn't find it anywhere.
I donated to it.It was on kickstarter.
It didn't go deep on Huey except to make him the villan.

Update #42

Feb 16 2016

Watch and Tweet the #BlackPanthersPBS broadcast premiere at 9pm EST!

Today is the day that The Black Panthers: Vanguard of Revolution reaches millions of homes across the U.S.!
We are overwhelmed by the support for the film. The call to tune-in has come from a diverse spectrum of artists, thinkers and organizers - from Questlove and MC Hammer, Sally Kohn and Tim Wise, Deray McKesson to Alicia Garza.

The film could not have arrived at a more auspicious time, where debates about the Panthers are so often heated and polarized. Let’s use this moment to examine our past, wrestle with the questions the Black Panthers raised fifty years ago, and collectively envision a new way forward.

We're watching this film as one big family tonight, join us with your questions and comments on Twitter. You must use #BlackPanthersPBS in every tweet to participate in the conversation.
