Y'all remember when Dubs (20+ inch wheels) were in style? Dudes putting 26" wheels on Expeditions and Tahoes and shit?
Had a neighbor whose son worked for the county and had an Expedition that he put 24" or 26" (I couldn't tell the difference) on it. He had to jack the SUV up to allow space for those big ass rims. Dude used his income tax or something to get the wheels.
Anyway...
The problem was the TIRES. Back then low profile tires that size were upwards of $300 or more. Dude would pay more than $1,000 a set. All was good until about a couple years after he had the wheels put on. I don't know why but those skinny ass tires didn't last for shit. I don't know, maybe the shop fucked up its alignment when they lifted the truck. Every year after tax time he would have a new set of tires. But they would only last 3/4 of the year. By the end of the year he would have to put the stock wheels back on. The problem was that the SUV was jacked up high so it looked retarded with the smaller stock wheels on it.
Anyway, if a person wants a nice set of rims on his car then teach each his own. I see plenty of Porsche and Corvettes with HRE, BBS, or other high performance wheels on them. What trip me out is when somebody buys something like that but can't even afford to own or maintain them.
