They already agreed to the fight. Ward has a three fight deal this year with HBO and the culminating fight of that deal will be the one with Kovalev provided that they're both still undefeated. Ward's first fight is supposed to be in March.
That and it seems they may actually make the Kovalev-Stevenson bout for the summer.
Him winning is best for boxing in the long run. Its the perfect fight for Ward to get him some more shine/fame.
