Major snowstorm may threaten DC to NYC Friday into Saturday

The potential exists for a major snowstorm to affect more than 50 million across the eastern United States at the end of the week.
Areas from near Washington, D.C., to Philadelphia and around New York City are among other areas that could receive heavy snow from the storm.

The exact track of the storm will hold the key as to which areas in mid-Atlantic and New England are hit with heavy snow, dangerous highway travel and scores of flight delays and cancelllations
llations during Friday into Saturday.
Unlike most storms so far this winter, this system will have sufficient enough cold air to produce snow and disruptions to daily activities in some areas of the East that have seen little thus far.

need that storm to trickle down here a bit...a solid 10" will get us a week off :please:

So far, the GFS model is setting up for a nice storm to come through. Still too far out to determine the exact nature of this system, but considering that the cold air is in place, we might see something significant if the GFS model, as well as others, stays consistent.

As for folks in NC, they need to pay special attention because it looks like we are caught on the freezing as usual. This means we have that potential for ice which is our biggest concern. I'll put some graphics up and keep this thread bumped throughout the week.

I'm truly amazed at the overall model agreement and consistency with this though. Especially 4-5 days out. The GFS out performed the Euro this weekend, but the Euro has been tips for months. What's your gut call?

They told us we're expecting something in Richmond. I'll be staying home. These cats here think because they have a jacked up 4wd pickup, they can go anywhere. They be the first ones in the ditch.

Yep. It's funny, because most of the people that ditch out down here are from the mid west or up north, and they all say the same thing: "I'm used to driving in the snow! I didn't count on the ice!" No shit.

Wood y'all don't put down rock salt that's why you have all that ice. Using sand and other bullshit. Cold weather aka that Great Lakes snow I'm use to it.
