A microphone that hadn’t been turned off caught the interaction.

The bizarre exchange came right after Christie had formally endorsed Trump, saying that, “there is no one who is better prepared to provide America with the strong leadership that it needs both at home and around the world.”
The clip of the interaction quickly went viral, prompting Trump’s social media director to clarify the situation.
“@realDonaldTrump told @ChrisChristie to go home (as was planned) to be with family tonight. Being blown out of proportion, BIG LEAGUE!!,” Dan Scavino tweeted.

Christie, on Sunday morning, didn’t appear as fond of the billionaire candidate as he had Friday, saying on ABC’s “This Week” that Trump would definitely “have to give more complete answers” to many of his policy proposals.
Trump, meanwhile, said on NBC’s “Meet the Press” that he welcomed Christie’s endorsement despite Christie’s previous criticism on the campaign trail.
“They were made in smaller locations,” Trump said. “And they never got out very much, so I never really had to go wild. But I did hear a little bit about them. But that’s called welcome to the wonderful world of politics, I think. You know, he’s been a friend of mine, he’s been a really good guy, and a good friend of mine for a long time.”
