I was born in 1971 so I saw what heroin was doing to blacks back in the day and how they treated addicts. Fast forward now they got overdose kits but back in the day if you OD'd you would be hard pressed not to end up in jail AFTER you got out the hospital.
The same way they are moving on heroin they are moving on abortions. If you notice they now got a commercial with a white girl sitting on the steps talking about put your kid up for adoption instead. Why? Because they aint making babies like they used to so now they are having to attack planned parenthood. Back when it was just black girls getting them nobody gave a shit and the government was quick to hand out funds.

Back during the height of the crack epidemic you could claim addiction and get a light sentence and mandatory drug counseling. They quickly shut that avenue down. We know why....
There's always been a drug problem in the suburbs. Always. Anyone who grew up in the suburbs can tell you that shit. Consider the fact that drug use has historically been about the same for all races.
Cacs have been in denial for years about it. They get away with denying it because there isn't nearly as much drug-related violence in the suburbs and dealers don't advertise nearly as much. Dealers so low key, they used to let some people go to the hood to cop because they didn't trust having too many customers.

It's not really that. It's the fact that dealers aren't broadcasting in the suburbs. Sure, there's the same amount of drugs in the suburbs, but where do you cop? Dealers aren't just hanging out in front of stores or in front of apartments.
When we were teens up here, we'd tell these cacs to pay or try their luck at Kerruish Park or 131. Most chose to pay instead of risking fucking DTW.

Yep!!! There and Mass, they are pretty much changing all of the rules associated to this topic... The cops are no longer placing these addicts in jail. They're are dropping them at rehab facilities. They are also changing the law for all cops in the north east region to carry epi pens... {not sure on the spelling}..... and the list goes on and on......
Like many mention.... these changes only occur once it hits home where these kids ODing reminds them of their sons... daughters... nieces... and nephews.... but we've been green lit to get shot down during a traffic stop / violation or pop up dead in a holding cell...

It's funny, because all of these Vietnam vets were coming back strung the fuck out, and they had a smorgasbord of heroin and other drugs in Harlem to pacify them IN HARLEM, so it was all good, and Dwight didn't have any fucks left over. Then when that Kennedy kid got robbed trying to score in Harlem, drugs were an "epidemic" all of a sudden.
Fast forward to the 80s. This neighborhood in Queens was being ruled by this dope crew, and the residents were BEGGING for the cops to do something, but the fucks hadn't come in yet. Then a white cops gets killed in that neighborhood, and afterward, it's an all out assault. Even the Prez gets involved.
Shit's never a priority, until it lands at Dwight's front door.
