Official ''The Player'' discussion thread (starring Wesley Snipes)

This might turnout to be the best new series this season. Katt shit on it before it even aired. Shit was good had a great pace nice action scenes and everything.

Let me know, when Snipes' character, "Mr Johnson", beats the living shit out of this guy and says, "Always bet on black!"

:lol::lol:

You know it's coming.

I agree that the girl seems to be on some foul shit. Why would Snipes kill the dude that cancelled Stonebridge's wife's Christmas though?

i think snipes did it to help stonebridge. cuase dude was just a goon for hire. i doubt that he really knows what happened.what u think?

Re: Nobody's watching The Player

I can't fuck with this dude speaking without an accent and a haircut.

I couldn't even tell you his name to save my life... that whiteboy is Stonebridge, stop trying to be someone else

edit:
Just checked the ratings, OP's title is correct :smh:

Same with Scott or STD as i've learned to call him on the other show. It's not as good as The Player i think. Not enough action. Stonebridge is in some shit every week.

the accents are hard to digest though.

Re: Nobody's watching The Player

Two years ago, in a presumptuous piece entitled, “How We’d Fix It: NBC,” I wrote the following: “The Blacklist is working? Boom. There’s your brand.” I’m not saying network boss Bob Greenblatt listens to me, but on this one point, we finally did see eye to eye. If you enjoy that show’s signature blend of noisy violence and piping hot nonsense, then boy are you in luck.

To be clear: I am generally pro–hot nonsense! And I will always prefer a show that has a sense of humor about its own limitations to one that hacks and slashes pretentiously through them. The problem with Blindspot and The Player is that neither has the abundance of humor or the scarcity of fucks-given to match James Spader’s gleefully hammy performance on Blacklist. Instead, we have the two stars of Cinemax’s underrated — and blazingly nonsensical! — Strike Back, Philip Winchester and Sullivan Stapleton, toplining passable action hours that each could be so much better.

Of the two, it’s Winchester’s show that is probably the most likely to connect. He’s a charmingly roguish performer, and in The Player he’s well-matched to his character: Alex Kane, a “pain-in-the-ass security consultant.” But as I said above, someone needed to break into the NBC executive suite and lead a group sing-along of the old Jewish hymn “Dayenu,” which roughly translates as “that would have been enough.” Because, as is, The Player is piled perilously high with bullshit. (Remember the stuff I wrote about Wesley Snipes? Did I mention that his implacable, monotone-speaking character refers to himself as “The Pit Boss”?) This is basically a nihilistic version of Person of Interest (surveillance + vigilante heroism + suits) set in a city, Vegas, known for hedonistic, escapist fun, not nihilist gunplay.

‘The Player’ Order Trimmed To 9 Episodes By NBC
http://deadline.com/2015/10/the-player-order-trimmed-cut-9-episodes-nbc-cancelation-1201592495/

NBC has moved in to cut the order to freshman drama The Player from 13 to 9 episodes. The series, from Sony Pictures TV, is currently filming Episode 9, so production will stop when it wraps. The show will continue to air in its Thursday 10 PM slot.

NBC’s decision comes on the heels of The Player posting its first ratings uptick last night, rising a tenth in adults 18-49 from last week in Live+same day to a 0.8 in 18-49 (+4% in total viewers to 4.14 million).

The Player
, a male-skewing action drama starring Philip Winchester and Wesley Snipes, has had a tough time on Thursdays where it faced football on CBS as well as baseball. Thursday Night Football on CBS wraps next week and baseball season is heading into its finale, so the last episodes of The Player will not have sports competition. However, the show’s fate has been sealed before it got to that stage.

The Player,
from the producers of NBC’s The Blacklist, which serves as the newbie’s lead-in on Thursday, opened softly with a 1.2 among adults 18-49 in L+SD for the premiere behind Heroes Reborn. That was followed by a 1.0, 0.9, 0.7 and 0.8. The Player has been a solid DVR gainer, most recently hitting a percentage high of +64% L+3 DVR lift for last week’s episode.

The Player
, which was launched with a modest promotional push, is the second new series this season to see its original order reduced, joining Fox’s Minority Report, which had its run trimmed from 13 to 10 episodes. At NBC, the network has given a full-season order to freshman drama Blindspot.

Damn...

And I liked how starting with the last episode they were showing much more Snipes. That Nino Brown casino scene was great. The needed to just make a version of strike back for NBC and it would have been a smash, there is nothing like it on network tv since the unit and 24. And would get that football audience to dvr the show.

In other words,:itsawrap:

the same probably will happen with JLo's show next year when it gets put in the same timeslot

on the other hand i guess this frees up Snipes for that possible Blade revival on Netflix..maybe he can bring along Winchester to play either Moon Knight or Hannibal King

Snipes puttin in work man.. Im glad to see my man back in action...

I know the network will screw him over ultimately but i hope this opens more doors and gets him more action roles.

This shit makes no sense. I guess it's in comic book world reality?:lol::lol: Looks like glowing hot trash.

I thought it would be a snipes lead run and gun show...not him playing some kind of behind the scenes powerbroker..

I seriously hate getting into network shows anymore - I started watching this and enjoyed the premise and now they are cancelling it...

Well it was interesting to find out that Wesley Character used to be "The Player" and was made Pit Boss - so he is a bad ass -

The stuff regardig kane's wife is boring as fuck and should have been trimmed

The Blindspot is boring as hell and I prefer the Player -

But Strike Back US should have been the next step in the concept - British Intelligence acting on US soil - Fucking with the FBI, Local PD and the CIA and NSA.
