STACKED SET OF STARTERS IN SOUTH BEACH
The Heat will go into next season with a projected starting lineup that contains three former NBA All-Stars in Dwyane Wade, Luol Deng, and Chris Bosh. Goran Dragic and Hassan Whiteside have the potential to make it five All-Stars in Miami's lineup this season.

Nah i was just fuckin around but in all seriousness i see the Heat falling anywhere from 3-5 seed. Anything outside of that would either be them over achieving or a failure based on talent

Im excited for the season also.

If the team stays reasonably healthy we should have a good year.

Im also hoping Winslow lives up to the hype.

Shit...seem like they're behind the Dubs hype machine tho...not that's a bad thing

Only now, Dubs got shit on for years even during that 07 run. Clippers too. It was only the wack ass Lakers they cared about. Portland etc. No love.

Early Impressions of Rookie Justise Winslow

All you’re really looking for from rookies this time of year is flashes.

Even the draft picks that go on to have Hall of Fame careers aren’t even in the same universe of the player they’ll eventually become as they ramp up to their first professional circuit. There are hints along the way, if you pay close attention. You just can’t always count them.

While Justise Winslow’s 12 points, 10 boards, three assists and two blocks in 35 minutes as Miami’s by-default starting power forward in Orlando on Tuesday is a reasonably-shiny, do-it-all box-score line, it’s not the line that’s so encouraging.

Erik Spoelstra typically doesn’t put much pressure on his young players by hyping them up with the media. He’s been steadfast in sticking to his ‘I don’t want to put him in a box’ line whenever Winslow comes up. Thing is, that’s not just a line. There’s no reason to put Winslow in a box, especially when he looks so good, so calm, in so many situations.

Granted, the jumper will take some time and like any other young player there will be an adjustment to finishing at the rim among the mountains and trees. Everywhere else, whether he’s operating with the ball in his hands or learning from Dwyane Wade after practice, Winslow doesn’t look like a 19-year old. Even at full speed running on the break, he’s working at a pace all his own.

It’s not every rookie who come pre-packaged ready to run change of pace drives late in a game – albeit a preseason game.

It’s not every rookie who can play the passing lanes without getting himself out of position and hurting the team. It’s not every rookie who can play the same game no matter who he’s sharing the floor with. It’s not every rookie who can guard small and rebound big.

Nor is it every rookie who comes out creating corner threes with cross-court, on-the-move passes that plenty of veteran point guards never quite develop.

Those are easy enough plays to shrug off when the shots aren’t falling, but they’re the plays that signal a sense of awareness which so often goes undervalued. As the league puts a higher and higher premium on shooting with each offseason, and with defense always the apple in every coach’s eye, it’s passing that should continue to separate the best from the rest.

That’s what helped make the Warriors, Spurs and HEAT the Warriors, Spurs and HEAT.

No matter how good rookies are, it’s tough for them to have an overall positive court impact – at least by the numbers. There’s just too much to learn and it’s too long of a season. Winslow seems to have as good a chance at coming out of the year a plus as any, especially on a team with enough talent to give him time to grow. The shooting and efficient scoring should come, eventually, but all the other check marks are there.

And if you remain preoccupied with putting Winslow in a box so early in his career, at least make it a big one. Just don’t expect it to hold. Talent will roam.

Im expecting big things from Bosh, now that he finally has someone who allows him to play his game as opposed to forcing him to bang with the big centers..

Well I don't kno what to expect, he's still shooting many 3's and LBJ ain't there so....it might be what it is!!!

HEAT Takes From Red, White & Pink Game

The Miami HEAT hosted the Red, White & Pink Game Presented by Baptist Health Breast Center at Miami Cancer Institute Thursday night at AmericanAirlines Arena. Below are some takeaways from the action.

1. Hassan Whiteside Returns

After missing all of Training Camp and the first four games of the preseason, Whiteside made his return to action on Thursday night. It was great to see the big man back on the floor with his teammates. As usual, Whiteside did most of his damage in the post and had some nice finishes inside. He also fought hard on the glass. In all, Whiteside totaled 15 points and nine boards.

2. Gerald Green with the Green Light

We all know Green likes to get out in transition and throw down. So far in his short time as a member of the HEAT, Green has treated the fans to a few breakaway jams. Early on in the Red, White & Pink game, Mario Chalmers threaded the needle with a great pass to Green in transition, which the former Sun slammed home with one hand.

That wasn’t all Green did on the night though. Throughout the scrimmage, Green knocked down a number of tough mid-range jumpers in addition to three 3-pointers. The eight-year vet led the team with 23 points on 9-of-12 shooting.

3. Josh Richardson Turns on the Jets…Again

Richardson has been very impressive throughout the preseason and the scrimmage was no different. Almost all of the rookie’s points on Thursday came in transition, thanks to some great feeds from Goran Dragic. Richardson had a few nifty reverse layups in traffic and finished with 13 points on 60 percent shooting. Besides all that, the most encouraging thing about the young man is that he’s built off each game and shown improvement.

Other Takeaways:

-Miami’s two leaders, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh, were very sharp on Thursday night. Wade mixed it up with some aggressive drives to the hoop and turnaround mid-range jumpers. Bosh, meanwhile, did a majority of his work from downtown. Wade had 18 points, while Bosh tallied 15 points, including three 3-pointers.

-While Dragic didn’t score all that much, he setup his teammates very well with some excellent feeds. Hopefully he can keep it up this weekend against the Rockets and Hawks.

Game Note: Chris Andersen and Udonis Haslem both didn’t play due to illness. Josh McRoberts also sat out.

Well I don't kno what to expect, he's still shooting many 3's and LBJ ain't there so....it might be what it is!!!

I think he is better at that mid range, occasionally driving to the hoop, and basically taking what the defense gives him as opposed to him being forced to be more of a hyped up roll player..
His problems is on defense and trying to grab the boards, vs certain teams he can be out muscled but with Whiteside being a rebounding shot blocking machine this allows Bosh to conserve his energy allowing him to save it more on offense..

Hassan Whiteside’s return gives Heat a tantalizing taste of what could be

This is what you would term a tease. It lasted just three minutes and 22 seconds, in the opening quarter of an open scrimmage with a running clock, a scrimmage significant mostly for the cause — breast cancer research and awareness. But this small slice of time, resulting in just four points, still represented the most promising stretch of the Heat’s preseason thus far.

That’s because it was the first time Miami’s projected starters were on the floor together in a competitive setting — Chris Bosh, Dwyane Wade, Luol Deng, Goran Dragic and now, center Hassan Whiteside, who, after rehabbing a calf injury for roughly three weeks, had been cleared after completing the morning practice.

This is the group Pat Riley envisioned since February, when he acquired Dragic, only to see Bosh’s season officially end that same day. Then, after a harrowing summer, in which Miami sweated Bosh’s recovery, Deng’s opt-in decision and Dragic and Wade’s contract negotiations, Whiteside’s injury delayed the process again.

Now Whiteside is back.

The Heat can finally move forward.

“I was encouraged,” Erik Spoelstra said after the scrimmage, in which Whiteside recorded 15 points, nine rebounds and a block, while playing with several different combinations, though never the four other starters after those opening minutes. “You see how he just changes the game in the paint. You can’t scheme for that.”

The Heat cannot replicate it with anyone else, even as it has its deepest stable of frontcourt players in years. This is why many cite Whiteside’s maturity and consistency as defining variables of this Heat season.

Whiteside played 40 games with Deng, 36 with Wade, 21 with Dragic and just 18 with Bosh, enough for all to understand how he can ease their burdens.

Bosh, after playing out of position at center in recent seasons, spoke Thursday morning of how he will be in fewer screen-and-rolls on defense. He should be freed up more to float around offensive sets too, serving as a stretch-four to a true low-post option.

“I really feel we complement each other well, because our games are so different,” Whiteside said.

Whiteside helps Dragic too, because as the point guard said, “when we get rebounds, we can run” — Whiteside gets the former, and Dragic desperately wants to do the latter.

How does Whiteside help Wade? The 11-time All-Star, who relies on guile as much as athleticism these days, called it “huge” that Whiteside’s presence can unclog the halfcourt.

“Everyone has (written) about it, I’m sure,” Wade said. “We don’t have Kyle Korver, Mike Miller, we don’t have those guys. We have to find a way with our talent to be able to create space. One, with our body movement. Two, with our talent individually, to be able to draw two (defenders) and to be able to give someone an open look. It’s good to have multiple guys who can do that.”

Whiteside should be one. After admitting in the morning that his calf was still a little tight, he played loose. He was active and persistent, and got stronger as the game went on. That made this a good start for him, as the part of what the Heat hopes will be a great starting lineup.

Whiteside lost weight and added muscle.. He's going to be a problem around that rim

Re: Miami Heat 2015-2016 - We Loaded Now

Top 4 in the East, Whiteside will be a beast this year if he stays healthy and control his temper :yes:.

Oh what could've been

3 seed, with a possible 2 seed; Very solid team; Have a solid bench as well; and if D Wade stays healthy they will challenge Cavs; Dont think they can beat Cavs but they will play better than people think....

Say whaaaaaaaaaat?
