Cavaliers aim to feature Kevin Love more prominently this season
INDEPENDENCE, Ohio -- As the Cleveland Cavaliers open Year 2 of their Big Three era, LeBron James is looking to reshuffle the order of the trio by featuring Kevin Love more prominently than the Cavs did last season.

"I just think he's more comfortable in the situation that he's in," James said after practice Wednesday. "He's got a year under his belt; he knows what he expects out of himself and what his teammates expect out of him. I expect big things from him this year with a year up under his belt."

James was expounding upon his statement at Monday's media day that Love's increased presence will allow James to sit back and rest more than he has in years past.

"He will do some of the things he did prior to last year," James continued.

Of course, some of the things included making three All-Star teams from 2011 to 2014, being named the league's Most Improved Player in 2010-11 and averaging a gaudy 26.1 points, 12.5 rebounds and 4.4 assists per game in his final season in Minnesota.

"I think him being out showed even more of what he means to this team, more than him being on the floor for those 3½ games," James said. "It would've been huge for us obviously if he was in the lineup, but it gave him the opportunity to put things in perspective and see what his presence can mean to our team. Sometimes you have to take a step backwards to see how important you are."

Once Love committed to the Cavs long-term, Blatt spent the offseason trying to figure out a way to get more out of his stretch 4.

"No question, this summer we looked for and identified ways that we can take advantage of Kev's unique skill set, and hopefully we'll see that on the floor," Blatt said.

And how does he plan on integrating Love exactly?

"The things that you run, the emphasis you place on certain things, the responsibility that you give him and he takes," Blatt said. "Those are the main ways."

When asked about his role on Tuesday, Love deferred to James the same way James deferred to him.

"I think all of us will be more comfortable with what we're trying to do out there," Love said. "I think that, like I said [Monday], it all starts with the big man, No. 23, and it all kind of trickles down from there. I think if all the pieces fit together as we expect, we'll be a tough team to deal with."

He delivered the message in the same optimistic tone he projected on Monday's media day.

"Most hungry of my career? I think that resets itself every season," Love said. "I think it's a fresh start, a fresh start for everybody here, the coaching staff included. We're going to continue to keep building this thing."

Tyreke Evans Says Pelicans Are ‘Right There’ With the Warriors
“I don’t see why we can’t do it,” Evans said. “We have a great team. I don’t see our team any different from the Warriors. I think we’re right there, even though this is going to be our first year with coach (Alvin) Gentry. If we push each other and work hard, we can make that next step. It’s not going to be easy, but I think we have that chance.”

“We’re a young team. We need to get up and down,” Evans said. “The last game of the season, when we played the Spurs (needing a win to make the playoffs), we played an up tempo game. We came out of the gate getting stops and going for baskets. That’s been our best style. Playing like that is going to be good for us. We have a lot of guys with athleticism.”

Re: NBA team Schedules

Qualifying Offer Is No Longer An Option For Tristan Thompson

The October 1 deadline for Tristan Thompson to sign the Cleveland Cavaliers’ one-year $6.8 million qualifying offer has passed.

This means that the Canadian power forward will remain a restricted free agent and if the Cavs’ practice on Friday commences without a deal between both parties then Thompson will be classified as a hold-out.

Earlier, GM David Griffin has expressed confidence on a positive development for both camps.

“We fully expect that tomorrow he will be here in some form or fashion. We’re hopeful that he wants to move forward with his teammates in the same way that we want to have Tristan here. If we can come to some agreement, then we will.”

We can take this air of confidence as a sign that something is in the works or Griffin is only producing some sort of smokescreen. However, one thing’s for sure and that is Rich Paul has just lost a bit of leverage as it was earlier reported that the player agent stated to the Cavs that if Thompson signs the qualifying offer, it would be his final year in Cleveland.

Now, with the qualifying offer off the table, Thompson has a few options for himself on the table. He can:

A) Sign the Cavs’ 5-year, $80 million offer (if it’s still on the table)
B) Lower his 5-year, $94 million demand closer to the $80 million range
C) Lower his 3-year $53 million offer
D) Hold out and wait until the Cavs offer Thompson a contract that he likes.

In all honestly, LeBron and the Cavs need Thompson on the team. Holding out will not help the team aspect as the Cavs’ time to win is now. Thompson should have already signed the more than generous 5-year, $80 million deal

A new but shorter countdown to Friday’s start of practice has begun.

I'm thinking a deal gets done...
5 year @ $80 million

(One thing I don't get, Dragic only signed on if the Heat were to play faster, this roster don't seem like a run and gun squad)
Season opener: Oct. 28 vs. Charlotte Hornets
Home opener: Same
National TV games: 11
Back to backs: 17
Any 4-game-in-5-night stretches? Dec. 25-29
Longest homestand: 7 games from Nov. 8-23 (Raptors, Lakers, Jazz, Timberwolves, Kings, 76ers, Knicks)
Longest road trip: 6 games from Jan. 8-17 (Suns, Jazz, Warriors, Clippers, Nuggets, Thunder)
Game to circle: Dec. 5 vs. Cavaliers (NBATV). LeBron James returning to Miami still matters.

This all I'm concerned about.. Fuck them other teams

LeBron James Joined Miami Heat Players for #WadeFieldDay
September 21, 201510 Comments By Marcel Mutoni

LeBron James has cut most of his business ties in South Beach, but he remains on very good terms with members of the Heat.

James recently held workouts in Miami with his Cleveland Cavaliers crew ahead of the team’s official training camp next week, and linked up with some former teammates for something dubbed #WadeFieldDay over the weekend.

The Cavs and Heat will meet twice during the NBA regular season’s opening month.

Per the Sun-Sentinel:
In an event tagged as #WadeFieldDay by rookie guard Josh Richardson on an Instagram post, several Heat players (and one well-known former Heat player) gathered Sunday for the bonding session. […] An Instagram post offered by Hassan Whiteside, showed Whiteside alongside Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh, Mario Chalmers and James, along with Wade’s personal photographer.

Earlier, Wade offered an Instagram post that read on large lettering, “Team Wade Field Day 2015,” with a caption of “They don’t want it!!! first of many. #anyonehasfacepaint #teamwade.”

James and the Cavaliers recently have held their own workout sessions in South Florida, with James also working out with former Heat guard Norris Cole at the Miami gym where Wade has been training in advance of the season.

Joakim Noah has taken to going to bed early. "Very underrated," he calls it with a laugh. When he rises bright-eyed in the morning, it is daily yoga that greets him. "Just trying to channel all my energy into basketball right now. I owe that to my teammates," Noah said. "It's definitely part of growing up. "When you play in the NBA at this level, there are a lot of distractions. Not all of them are bad; you just have access to a lot. Some of the things might be important to you. I want to make this everything right now and worry about all the other stuff later."
