Not only are hippos very large and powerful animals, but I read that they are highly territorial, and extremely aggressive against anything, or anyone, who invades their territory.

In the youtube link, they had a documentary on how the whales would flip the sharks over and then feast. Apparently, if a shark smells the meat of its own kind, they scram.
