Philippa Okoye claims in a suit filed Monday in Manhattan Federal Court that Benjamin Alderson, the CEO of deVere Group in Manhattan, ran an out of control “Wolf of Wall Street”-style office.
Okoye is the wife of 49ers practice squad player Lawrence Okoye, who has yet to record a statistic in an NFL game.
The Brit says she was the only woman in an office of around 21 employees when she started her gig as a senior investment advisor in Oct. 2013.
She quickly became a target among co-workers who mocked her for dating a black man pursuing his football career on the other side of the country, papers charge. “How many times has big Lawrence cheated on you?” Alderson allegedly asked her.
“So Philippa, how many cheerleaders has your boyfriend f----- today?" Alderson allegedly said, among many other vulgar, racist insults.
At the time she had yet to marry Lawrence Okoye, who is also an elite discus tosser.
After Okoye complained and was demoted, Alderson continued mocking her for her Christian faith, calling her a “Bible basher” and singing hymns when he walked by her desk, court papers charge.

Unless she divulges "many other vulgar, racist insults" that was said and which are not stated in the story, I don't know if any racism really exists here. Nothing "racist" was said about the boyfriend other than questioning if he scr3wed a lot of cheerleaders and how many times. (Although I can see the stigma of race in that Black men allegedly cheat a lot - which any real woman knows is not true because men of ALL races can be a serial cheater.) The "bible bashing" comment is just a taunt towards her religious beliefs. Which is typical and usual from some people who fear others beliefs and faiths. And if they were not hitting on her and calling her "sexy" names or feeling her up, I don't see anything in the sexual harassment. Not saying that she is wrong in her accusations, but she may have a hard time proving it. That being said, this Alderson guy looks like a freaking jerk, who would have the ignorance to walk by someone who is religious and hum a hymn. And for this, nothing Good will happen for this guy.

what is it about white guys that makes this kind of conduct in a professional environment somehow acceptable. I have a few idiots like this in my office. The entire filter process that helps a person to discriminate between what is acceptable at work vs what is acceptable period is just broken. I have had to let decent workers go because of their conduct towards women in the office, the comments and the jokes that they think are hilarious that everyone else are aghast at. here's a guideline. If a person comes to HR to complain about conduct and its confirmed, I am going to fire that individual. the logic is simple. the lawsuit is more expensive than replacing the troublesome employee. This is your place of work, not a frat house. Not a bar. not your man cave. And this conduct is expressing addressed in our conduct policies that every reads and signs.
the only people I see who can't seem to grasp this concept are some of our white male employees. I have to take them aside and remind them that this is a professional environment. That shouldn't be necessary. We like to keep it loose but not unprofessional. It is what is.
