Floyd Mayweather Sr won't say that his son can't beat Gennady Golovkin, but he doesn't believe the fight makes sense.

Mayweather vs Golovkin? To Floyd Mayweather Sr, it's an absurd idea, with simply too much actual size difference even if Gennady Golovkin were able to make a 154-pound limit for the possible fight.
Here's what Floyd said in the video from Jeff Mayweather's ProBoxingInsider.com:
"I would say something about this GGG. GGG, hey, if GGG can make weight, that would be different, but -- no, no, we not fixin' to fight no damn giant. I'm gonna tell you like this right here. He comes down, he be at 154, by the time he eats and fight that night, maybe 180, you just don't know, man. People can eat up stuff, man, and hey. He don't need to fight nobody like that, man. Now they say that Floyd won't beat him, but I'm just telling you because, the guy is probably just so big and strong, man. Floyd probably, all he would be doing is, he'd take a lot of punches. He'd come in, Floyd would run the stuff off of him. But the whole thing is, it'd be a struggle, but Floyd probably could beat him. I can't say that he can't beat him."
On my end, I think Mayweather Sr is right that it's just too much to ask of Mayweather to fight a destructive middleweight who would have an enormous size advantage on him. Mayweather has fought three fights at 154 pounds in his career, with Oscar De La Hoya, Miguel Cotto, and Canelo Alvarez. He's 3-0 in those fights, but it was also clear that he was really pushing his physical limits.
While challenge and risk are great to see in boxing, weight classes exist for a reason, and Mayweather is not a junior middleweight. That he's had success at that weight against top fighters is a testament to his skill, but it's really unfair to ask Mayweather to take that type of risks. Take risks against good fighters in his weight class, yes, but out of it? That's another story.

GGG is just too big. And like Sr said, no telling what he might come into the ring weighing. It's just insane what people ask middleweights to do sometimes. People are just looking for anyone, no matter their normal weight class, to fight Floyd cuz they wanna see him lose. Shit, some heavyweights would starve themselves down to 154 just for the payday, but after they rehydrate and eat, that motherfucker could turn into Volton as he enters the ring. Fuck that. Floyd is too far into his career to start taking senseless fight because haters want him too. Look at Leonard and others slurring their damn words and blinking rapidly from all the punishment they took.

Floyd need to fight kell brook that's a fair fight both are undefeated.

Why would he fight Kelly Brook when Keith Thurman is around?

Out of the young up and comers Thurman IMO has earned that shot the most and is the most intriguing.

As far as GGG May weather Sr. is right he's way too big for Floyd. Pacquiao actually came in the ring bigger than Floyd and he's 3 inched shorter so imagine the advantage Golovkin will have on fight night.

GGG and his people need to stop worrying about the lower weight classes and start really trying to make a fight with Ward instead if just talking about it. Ward pressed GGG's promoter about that shit a couple if weeks back.

Pacquiao actually came in the ring bigger than Floyd and he's 3 inched shorter OH REALLY?Prove it cuz last I checked floyd hid his numbers on the night of the fight while Manny showed his.:hmm:

The point is Pacquiao came in a lot heavier than expected on fight night. So, just imagine how much heavier GGG could be. Even Canelo came in much bigger than Mayweather, but Canelo made the catch weight his own team suggested.

That would be stupid for anyone to expect Floyd to fight GGG. Floyd could actually get hurt in that fight. A big motherfucker like that who hits like a horse? Anybody even pulling for that fight is just desperate to see Floyd lose. Brook/Thurman are the only fighters I want to see Floyd in the ring with. Fuck Cotto, Alvarez, etc. already beat those jokers easily, no need for the damn remix. Same goes for Mannys choking ass... :hmm:

I'd watch it, but Mayweather would get hurt, Ali style even though he would win. GGG is far too big.

Why doesn't GGG fight Ward or b Cotto

What about Terrence Crawford?

Go to the fight thread, there's a Fight Hype video where they say Pac weighed in at 152 & Floyd 149 on fight night.

They don't want K.Thurman to get that. One Time got the adjustments on stand by at his camp for this fight. It would be good for Floyd though because he aint no slouch, no tomato can, a true boxer with brawling skill as well. It would be better than watch Amir Khan bitch ass swing at air, float around fast as Floyd, then walk into a KO by Money's damaged hands. His bitch ass need to fight AB bitch ass.

You notice how all the Floyd haters want Floyd to go up 2 divisions to fight the middleweight champ GGG. But no one is asking why GGG goes up one division to fight Andre Ward?

GGG can't find someone to fight him, he's too good. But he can't go up one weight class to get a fight?

SMH :smh:

everybody knows that's bullshit.... Floyd looked like he was twice the size of Pac

there is a reason he did announce his weight before the fight

funny his dad is saying he won't fight a giant but Pac just did.

No matter who it is,it's going to be a cakewalk for Floyd.
I know people think it would be Thurman and it probably should be but 1 Time
struggled against Guerrero and Floyd made The Ghost look like he had never boxed
before in his life.

Peace

nah Floyd good where he at. eventho he beat a bigger fighter in Canelo......tryin to move up or have GGG move down to fight him is just ridiculous.
these CACs ready to throw any and everything at Floyd to get him to lose.

This. I really want Floyd to go 50-0 and don't fault him one bit to fight two easy fights to get there.Dude has fought the best for well over a decade and there will always be "one more" guy he "has" to fight until he finally loses.Have that GGG dude fight Ward. Have Pacquiao fight Canelo.

Floyd is more muscular up top than Manny and that's what you see but most of Manny's weight is lower body his legs are bigger than Floyd's. Floyd is also an inch taller. Manny ain't fight no Giants ever everyone he's fought has been his weight or smaller. Look at the weight when Floyd fought Canelo and Oscar he was outweighed by 6 and 14 pounds in those fights.

Brook has a bigger fan base and they could easily well out Wimbledon, but I don't think Mayweather would want his "last" fight to be on foreign soil. Thurman is very media savvy and obviously a credible threat in the ring, I'm not sure he has enough of a name or base to really generate big numbers. Between the two, Brook would be the way I'd go... or Danny Garcia if he moved up.

Agreed. He's also 2.5 inches taller

Haters want to see Mayweathr lose so bad they don't care about it being unfair or mismatched asking as he beats Mayweather.

Don't mind people wondering how he would do against GGG based of his greatness and dominance of the era ...demanding it as if he has something to prove against GGG is a problem....especially with Cotto now and Sergio Martinez before openly ducking GGG without any great public pressure to fight him...also with no great public pressure for GGG to go up in weight and fight Ward...the way Robert Garcia said it is cool with me..."Floyd's the best...nothing to prove...he could do something crazy and fight GGG"...no one who knows boxing would be surprised if Floyd beats GGG...but not fighting GGG does not diminish his legacy at all...Floyd fought who he needed to fight a week ago

Triple G, has the best body punches ive seen since Mike Tyson.. Check out Triple G knockouts on youtube.. While watching his video, I was grabbing my sides!!!:yes:

I'm still not sold on GGG. In every fight, he gets his opponent on the ropes and then beats them like a punching bag. Whenever he exchanges in the middle of the ring he gets hit.

I'm not ready to say that he's overhyped. But he's definitely not as good as his reputation would lead you to believe.

That's his style though...he is going to get hit...KO artists are always a little overrated...when they lose they become underrated...the first slick fighter with a good chin that he fights is probably going to beat him up...its on that fighter to step up though...as of now GGG is doing what he is supposed to do (with the small exception of calling out Ward while not really looking to fight him)...he is knocking out everyone in his division while the other champs at 160 run like bitches

The thing is. Why won't he fight Ward and why isn't he accused of ducking an picking less skilled fighters.

Andre Ward has been M.I.A. for almost two years. Who do you believe he's ducked?

That just changed. J.Prince got ward out of that succa ass contract where he couldn't grab a fight to save his life. He's now RocNation and his camp can make good fights happen.

Legally, Roc Nation can not manage Andre Ward since he already has a manager, J Prince. Therefore, Roc Nation will serve as the official promotional powerhouse for the WBA super middleweight champion. Ward is Olympic Gold Medalist status and boxing record of 27-0, 14KOs. With Jay Z’s star power, celebrity friends and marketing expertise, the buzz surrounding Ward should blossom tremendously in no time.

Andre Ward was previously working with Goossen Promotions.

Throne Boxing will air two additional events on Fox Sports 1 as part of Roc Nation’s three-fight deal.

This mothafucka right here booooooooy :smh:
He needs to stop ducking Ward first. Then talk.

Shit, Floyd be making everybody so much money...its a wonder Deontay Wilder aint call him out yet...smart move by Golovkin but Floyd aint gonna fight him (no need)...his best bet is for Canelo to beat Cotto because Canelo will fight him...word is they sparred a lot and Canelo more than held his own...thats his best money fight...he needs to stay far from Ward until after the Canelo - Cotto fight (providing Cotto beats Geale)...Ward will beat him and he won't even make that much money fighting Andre
