Damon Dash Breakfastclub interview

He refuses to address start up capital.....as a result the foundation of everything that Dame is saying is on hold......

and his bullshit about a job is lazy gets thrown out the window....

hell most kickstarters are funded by folks donating who HAVE JOBS.....

Not to mention he wanted to link up with Spike Lee who does movies with studios all the time.

:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

I like how Dame is being compared to Malcolm know.... all aboard the hyperbole train!

Not to mention he wanted to link up with Spike Lee who does movies with studios all the time.

exactly Spike who is on record saying that he has zero problems doing commercials.....now he has his own 40 acres and a mule production....but he still signs contracts to work for others a lot....

I know that you want to be your own boss....but there is a process

No secure & straight man needs to say pause... "He knows he can have it. Pause." Half a dozen times in 5-6 minutes. Dash has been somebody's bitch before.

Why the hell is Envy asking him how he met Jay-Z though? I was as annoyed as he was. I remember he was talking to Fredro Star and he asked him how much did Wu-Tang influence Onyx? Or something like that. I was like, "how is this dude associated with hip-hop, in any way, and he didn't know Onyx came out before Wu-Tang?"

Dame is gonna be associated with Jay forever, and because of that association, he's gonna be asked questions about Jay Z and their history/relationship for as long as he's a public figure and probably until the day he dies. Sometimes whether good or bad, things become a part of your legacy and no matter what, people are gonna ask the same questions about it. I found it funny that Dame screamed about not wanting to talk about Jay but he constantly pulled from recollections and scenarios that involved Jay during the interview.

I'm done with this shit... Listened to 80% of part one and I can't believe nobody called that fool out with his obsessiveness over what is a man and his total lack of security.

The Spike Lee thing was kinda sad.

We're always quick to judge. I'm sure Harvey Weinstein doesn't shut out his fellow jews asking for advise in Hollywood.

Blacks are always on some civil/cold war shit. I guess divide and rule thing really worked on us.

What's the time stamp for Spike Lee? I want to hear that part but can't listen to that insecure prag yell for 20 min to get to it.

Blacks who take pride in working for Jews and whites will be offended by this like they were offended by Dame's comments. A black man cant be successful unless he got a jew or white person telling him what to do or cutting him a check (Jordan, Jay-Z, Obama, Kevin Hart, etc).

Dude you are reaching with Dame. Don't be shocked if a company offers him a reality show and he pounces on it.

And he will unabashedly accept their checks as their employee, while claiming he's the boss.

It's real easy to turn your back on a nonexistent job and check. Were they to suddenly appear, Dame would be more than happy to turn around. And after he does, he'll flip it into some mumbo jumbo nonsense about how a "boss" recognizes an opportunity, and his water carriers will simply ignore the hypocrisy.

Dame was on instagram yesterday whining because he can't see his kids

Previously out of the blue he called a lawyer a culture vulture, why, because his ex is suing him for child support...and he's blaming the lawyer :hmm:

https://instagram.com/p/0gkGJhQy0X/?taken-by=duskopoppington

And he's playing victim like he doesn't know why he can't see his daughters and taking family business to social media

But yet you guys want to follow Dame Dash's path to financial success...in Harlem we flip, we don't save money :hmm:

Boss

If you pull out a few statements from a 70min interview then it would make it seem as if it was a direct attack @ social media. Dame's attack wasnt against social media "per se"....it was more so about the folks who ALWAYS use that lane as their MAIN source of information. And the "chatty patty" shit was more so about dudes gossiping about rumors on social media... but not putting out names.

Malcolm X worked for Elijah Muhammad. According to Dame he's not a man.

No.. according to Dame Malcolm was a student and partner of Elijah.

This video will make some people emotional, mad, dumbfounded or push people to want more.

Yeah....
But judging by most of the comments in this thread it made most of the people emotional & mad; Maybe because it spoke to their personal struggles, their Fathers struggles or their inabilities to break away from the norms of society. But keeping it 100...the interview was actually great!!! ....if you have thick enough skin and respect people who are honest and true to their nature.

The mass majority of what Dame was talking about...even when he was going at Envy... pertained to folks WILLINGLY getting into bs comfort zones....getting comfortable about being told what to do... and never trying to evolve to the next level. Never settle...cause the world is rarely at a stand still....keep shit in a constant rotation. SIMPLE AS THAT!!!

I dont know if Dame practices what he preaches or not....really dont care. I just feel like most of what he said made a lot of sense. When he said what he said about Spike Lee's perception of him..it made me go back to the reason why Kanye said he stuck with Jay and stopped messing with Dame. The way Dame expresses himself rubs a lot of folks the wrong way. His "persona" makes folks not want to do business with him. Whereas I think Spike and Dame could probably partner up and do good business...Dames persona makes Spike want to keep his distance...instead of getting to know Dame ON A BUSINESS LEVEL and make something happen.

I think a lot of you misconstrued the point he was making when he was talking about having a job. I also think a lot of you got overly emotional when Dame was talking to DJ Envy about how his children viewed him. Maybe what he said made you all think about how your children viewed u; cause maybe you all have been great EMPLOYEE'S for most of your lives, hence his comments made u feel like a failure. Or maybe it made u reflect on how you viewed your own fathers. Or maybe your paychecks prevent u from understanding. But bottom line is once u take out all the emotions...and peep whats real...then youll realize that a lot of what he said made sense....IMHO.

Anyways....based off a lot of your emotional comments...i can tell that a lot of you are used to having shit sugar coated before its presented to you. GL with that as you move through life!!!

100% Truth

Btw....
He also made a good point about our access to knowledge. Back in the days you had to go to other folks...read 100 books etc etc to learn this and that...but now ah days you can basically teach yourself all sorts of things..and get shit started on your own with just the click of a mouse.

Also....networking and learning from other folks aint the same as working for their company.
Partner...student...employee....these three words have gotten mixed up a lot in this thread.

100% Truth

When u start bringing folks children into the conversation...thats when u start to strikes nerves. Thats when shit gets real! Thats why Envy disrespected Dame and called him stupid. But sometimes you need to take it to that level to get folks to wake up.

YOU may feel as if youre setting a good example for your child.
YOU may feel as if you did things the right way because you did things in the same manner as everyone else or in a manner in which you were told to do them. But a lot of times our STUBBORN ways thinking prevent us from growing.

I hope DJ Envy takes heed to what Dame told him and starts something of his own. Cause the truth is the powers of this World aint working for other people....theyre either working WITH other people or working for themselves.

Think self sufficiency...not employment.

What the fuck?

You do realize being a DJ means you're self employed right? He can get booked at clubs all across the world to DJ.

He's more of his own businessman than Dame.

How do you think he got started with mixtapes and getting songs?

So if that's the case, why is he working for iheartradio when he could do his own online radio show?

You mean like Dame's bullshit online radio that he just uses to gossip and talk about himself like his youtube channel that nobody listens too?

Why is Dame the boss a small partner in a club?

Why was he a front man for Pro Keds and Armadale and claim he owned them?

And let me see, if I were a DJ...would I put out mixtapes(which there's no money in), put out albums or appear on the radio to spread my fuckin name in 50 different national markets, while making six figures doing it?

BTW dude also had his own sneaker store in Jersey amongst other things

The slave is doing pretty well for himself

Lol you guys are ridiculous.

He called envy stupid and got it back. Meanwhile me self sufficient is 2 mil in debt while Envy is up.

He touched a nerve with Envy by overstepping- claiming to know shit about Envy he doesn't know then getting mad at Charlemagne for Doing the same.

This is that broke nigga talk. Attributing shit to what this fool is saying that he didn't even say. Giving Dame undue credit.

The fact that you have to explain to this guy that a DJ gets booked and the job itself is an independent venture and that his job on the radio only makes his brand worth even more for that venture lets us know who we're talking to on this board.

And let's remind them all again that al Dame does on his YouTube channel is gossip and talk shit in a barber chair. Btw he doesn't own YouTube not Vimeo where he posts his rants and movies so guess who cuts him a check for his views? And guess who can kick him off those channels if someone so much as hits a button saying he has material on there that he doesn't have the rights to?

He could host those videos on his own or even start his own DAMEtube like when he attempted to make a social network years ago and have even less views.

You didn't answer my question, but that's cool.

I'm not saying Envy working for the radio is a bad thing. But what Dame said still rings true. That six figure check can be taken away at a moments notice. Also, envy gotta do what the radio tells him to do.

Now for most people, this is a cushy position that pays extremely well and you can provide for your family and all. Nothing wrong with that.

But what Dame was saying is that he's not comfortable with someone telling him what to do at a job everyday in addition to having no control in his financial future.

I'm saying Dame made a good point. Now does that mean I think Envy is an uncle tom or a slave for being a radio DJ, no I personally do not.

However, as a community that is in dire need of businesses right now in this economic climate, I find it interesting that many of the high tier employed blacks do not branch out on their own to gather a larger slice of the pie in their respected fields.

DJ Envy, Yee, and Charlamagne could definitely start their own radio show because they have a strong brand. The money they are paid is pennies on the dollar considering the strength of their brand.

Start up capital........no one agreeing with this muthafucka has yet to address it.

:smh:

EVERYTHING ELSE IS BULLSHIT.....if you don t address start up capital.....period.

Bringing this up would mean someone else cutting you a check, and that flies in the face of "bossness".
