I dont know, it makes me feel funny seeing Lebron on there.. I dont believe he is up there, or at least not yet. I still have a rough time ranking him over prime Shaq, Olajuwon, Magic and Bird.. 1 more Finals MVP IMO and he will leap frog at least 2 of these folks I just mentioned possibly.

NBA playoff games:

Individual NBA Playoff Records:

Michael Jordan: 42
Bill Russell: 14
Wilt Chamberlain: 13
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar: 5
LeBron James: 0

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NBA_post-season_records

sidenote:

MJ has more than double the Playoff records than the other 3 in that picture combined.

LeBron aint there yet. And at this point in his career I don't know if he could. I don't have a problem with the other three.

Bron over Kobe? I'm a Kobe hater, but Bron isn't over him at this point of his career.

NBA.com is doing what the football polls do. They're trying to start a debate. Why else would you put 'Bron over Kobe, Russell, and Magic?

^^^Agreed. But I'm not a Kobe hater (or Stan) either.

However, if LBJ ever wins a title in Cleveland... I could see him up there whenever his NBA career is done. Sure.

(They would just have to put 5 faces up there-n slide Bron over to make room for Kobe or Oscar also, imo)

Bron don't belong.

We all agree on that.

So who takes his place? Kobe? Magic? The Big O? Bird?

I'm just here so I don't get fined

agreed

cause you KNOW they wanted to put Bird on there.

At this point in Lebrons career, he has accomplished more than Kobe has as an individual player and much more efficiently... Lebron is a better player than Kobe is all time..

I've watched Kobes entire career as a Laker fan.

Lebron is definitely top 10, arguably top 5.

Kobe is definitely top 15, arguably top 10.

Definitely Not Kobe.

Magic

then Bird.

Russell, Olajuwon, Shaq.

Lebron is on par w/ the likes of Duncan All time.

Just Above players like Oscar, West, Kobe and both Malone's..

Big O is overrated.. couldnt take his team to the playoffs in his prime (from 28yo to 32yo)... GOATs dont miss the playoffs all throughout their primes... the pace of the game in the early 60's buffed up his numbers.

He's Still one of the very best to ever do it tho.

Although On the Real, With Basketball You Almost Have to Have Two Lists....One For Centers and One For Everybody Else, Because Centers Are Such Their Own Individual Animal From Every Other Position on the Court....#$0.02

How Bill Russell isn;t up there is beyond me. But it seems like the people who make up lists of top black athletes or entertainers for these magazines/sites are always white.

I dont think they need to be separated from an All time list.
thats unfair.

Why should we take off centers? so maybe THEN Lebron (or a player of your liking) can have a shot at a Mt. Rushmore list? FOH

We should just move MJ off the All time list.. because he was such an individual animal...:hmm:

thats lame thinking...

I hate when people say shit like that

True. True. :lol::

But I wouldn't be mad at them for including Bird. :smh:

That guy had enough GAME to be included in the convo..

:D

that's the point the did this deliberately just to get social media going...
its like the entirety of sports journalism now is a joke
they just say sh*t for attention.

No Magic No Bird No Russel?C'mon...

And different era rules number of teams playoff rounds etc
this aint even good barbershop convo.
they lost ALL credibility when they left Dominique off the top 50 player list.

No Its Because Most Every Other Position On the Floor Is More Interchangeable.....And Jordan Wasn't Such An Individual Animal He Just an All World Guard That If Matched Up Against Anyone Else One on One Would Dominate, You Could Say the Same For Kobe....But If You Think In a One on One Jordan or Kobe Is Gonna Dominate Shaq or Wilt In Their Prime......

Whos to say that tho?

I've seen Rodman (who was 6'6 210) guard Shaq in his prime Successfully..better than anyone I've ever seen.

you are overstating centers... youre also overstating 1 on 1 matchups.. whos to say Prime Jordan wouldnt torch any all time center one on one? take them outside and never miss a shot..
Jordan used to love to get matched up w/ centers.. blow by them and even dunked on 7 footers like nothing.

miss me w/ that argument.

4 G.O.A.T.S?

Jordan. Kareem. Magic. Wilt.

In my opinion, the best four basketball players ever.

One thing you have to admit about LeBron is that he has dominated his era, hands down.. The only two people who can be mentioned in the same breath, in his era is Kobe and Durant but when you compare his head to head record against them and the MVP won you can clearly see how he dominated his era..
As good as Kobe is he really was the best player on the planet for around two years, Kobe greatness is sandwiched between LeBron, Shaq and a little Jordan.. Meanwhile LeBron is on a 7 year stretch of dominance the only other players that had a run like this is Jordan (Magic shared with Bird, Chamblin had Russel and like Kobe Doc career was also sandwiched).

Lebron and Kobe have glaring deficiencies that I feel prevented them from having better careers.

They, to me, could never be more than second-tier legends along with Shaq, Duncan, Bird, West, Olajuwon, etc.

How many years was Duncan, Bird, West and Olajuwon considered the best player on the planet... I give Shaq at least 4..

Dominated his era? If he dominated his Era (like Jordan), he wouldnt have lost to the Mavericks in 2011 allowing himself to be the 4th best player on the court at best.

Or lose to the Spurs last year while having HCA..

Or lose to a Magic teams while having HCA throughout the playoffs in 2009.

He dominated, but certain things he allowed his teams to do in the playoffs that bring his "domination" down 2 for 5 in the Finals is hardly dominating.

Peep this tho:

Although I disagree w/ the way he dominated, I do like the point you brought to the table about him dominating his era for a stretch.... thats true.

Still doesnt make him top 4, anyway you cut it.

I don't judge it by that. Thats always opinionated. Almost always circumstantial.

I look at the overall body of work. I look at circumstances. I look at strengths and weaknesses.

Lebron is similar to Shaq that their physical gifts make them seem like a lock for 'best ever', but in both cases, something was missing.

Most of the second-tier legends, I feel, have first tier abilities/attributes, but whether through circumstances within or beyond their control, they didn't ascend to that level.
