I think Jax had that gun in his hand when he swung on Jury, maybe tried to hit him with it, then Jury falls, felt/saw the gun get loose, went for it and Jax ventilates him.
I wasn't sure, but as they replay that scene over & over I see it making sense.... and here is why:
A riff within the patch would not only undo him and his ranks, but would thwart his efforts that he has already put into motion. Also, Jury told him he had proof that they had killed his son because the shotgun found at the scene was the same one he had used earlier that day. At that point it didn't matter if Jury had ratted them out to Lin, Jax had to off him and do it fast before he had a chance to share that intel, because the club & other charters would have to hold him accountable for his actions against other charter members.
Also, pay close attention to how Jax says something very conspicuous & blatant right before swinging on Jury, as to draw attention and make sure witnesses knew his intentions (which was really just a deflection).
I think Jury was telling the truth. He had no reason to lie. If he had put Lin onto them, he had good reason for doing so then admitting it to Jax's face. But I don't think he did.
Jury's knowledge of Jax's transgression against him/his son > Jax's suspicion of Jury being a rat with only hearsay & circumstantial evidence.
Jury's secret was way more damning
