Looking for a handgun for home protection mainly but if needed to take to the streets if some shit jumped off it would be good for that too. In Oakland Cali we it's illegal to carry a concealed weapon. I've read 9mm are good for beginners, but want some feedback from brothas on this board that's familiar with arms. Thanks for the 2 responses I'll look more through this thread.

Yeah, man I always recommend going to the range and renting examples of a couple of calibers and models. IMO Ergonomics play a big factor in how well one will shoot. I'd say start with a Glock, see what you like and dislike about them, then choose accordingly.

It is a Tapco stock. Ran about 300 rounds thru today. No problems except the cheek weld. I added a rail and put my Trijicon RMR on it which makes getting a cheek weld awkward. Ran both Tula and Wolf ammo flawlessly. Pretty accurate out to 100. At 200 group opens up quite a bit.
 
I need some info on night vision.

I'm wanting a holo red dot and I thought I could just get an EOTech EXPS3 and mount it, but it says "night vision compatible".... what else do I need?

The NV mode on the EXPS3 allows for the use of NV gear with the RDS. If you want NV, you will need an actual NV scope or goggles.

Hope you got deep pockets. The good stuff gen 3 and 4 cost in the two to six grand range, gen 2 you can a good 50 yard or so in the mid 600 to 800 stay away from the cheapo's gen 1's

Cabelas has a lot of guns but their prices are garbage. The local shops around here undercut the hell out of them on most everything.
 
The Cabelas I go to in Indiana is monster!! Catch them on a low key sale day and u can get some nice steel for the low. I'm talking bout like $250.:yes:

copped a Taurus 9mm (18+1) for $250 (plus they threw in a box of fmj rounds).... and a Bersa .380 (7+1) for $229.
my daughter is going to be taking a gun safety class, and im going to give that .380 to her
to keep in her apartment.

380 is a good caliber for a female. Only thing I would've done different is got a compact one, something like the M&P Shield 380 that she could also carry in her purse. I know people talk about stopping power a lot, but trust me, a well placed shot with a 380 and aint nobody gonna keep coming at you. FYI the caliber that causes the most deaths in the US is 22.

its for my daughter man......needed somethin light enuff for her to handle that recoil.
she's not gonna be carrying it around with her. just to keep in her apartment.
